have you seen a REAL wild lion fight? a wild lion will NEVER attack in full force an unknown opponent (other lions mainly in real situations)... is survival instinct that will prevent him to do that. the first impression a tiger will give to any lion when a fight starts will be intimidation. tiger is cunning and fearless... has the win -win attitude in 100% situation... even when loosing.

The thing that cracks me up about the bear is that it clearly did not want to fight. It had no reason too. It threw the mountain lion off like it was nothing and didn't try to take a swipe at the mountain lion.
Also in the 1800's they fought a grizzly vs a lion and every time the Grizzly won. Basically if that was an older bear in late season no chance cause it would have fought.

No they didn't, there are only 2 recorded fights of lion vs bear in the california gold rush ending in a draw. Often misquoted by Bear magazines.

1200 lb grizzly bear is a specimen 50% larger than usual this bear is a good 800 lbs, and weight is of little consequence when you consider fat percentage and other advantages such as speed, agression, agility and so on.
The bear was scared and confused which is why he ran away, an aloof bear would carry on forward or walk away. It is theorised animals can sense each others killing intent which looks evident here.

I think the only match for the grizzly/kodiak/polar, is the siberian tiger, the biggest of the breed. Believe it or not, their weight is very close.

the problem is the overall attitude... grizzly will not engage in a fight just like that in all situations... the tiger will and the grizzly will get lost... the only way you might be right is when the bear is already raged (cubs, pissed off etc)

@Canadadry7 To be fair, it is not a fair match. On one side is a desperate mom trying to protect her cub; the other side is a 'not so hungry' grizzly just trying to steal some snacks. IMO, if both sides have the same determinations to win a duel, I'd bet on the grizzly. Or, if the mother has no cub to protect, you won't see this confrontation at all, because the cat will disappear as soon as the grizzly appears.
