The only problem I have is the loud CLUNK that you hear when you walk around on the carpet. Otherwise, it looks pretty good!

It will really help if you tweak the window a bit, turned the walking sounds down, and added some low breathing noise - To make it seem cold.

Try take a look at games like: Penumbra or Amnesia.

You can't render shadows with any version. The indie version can display lightmaps/shadows you've prerendered in another package. Unity 3.0 comes with a lightmapper which makes the process easier, it's due out soon.

Objects can cast shadows onto each other and onto parts of themselves ("self shadowing"). All types of Lights - Directional, Spot and Point - support shadows. '
