How strange this vid was uploaded July 8th, and then 3 years layer a man was killed on the ride the sane day.
I do feel, however, the man's family is treating this matter quite well, and I hope the ride re-opens before the summer ends so I can ride it over and over with my boyfriend again.
This roller coaster is filled with so many happy memories!

1. The lapbar, which holds people in at the middle of the body was infective for Mr. Hackemer.
2. His post-amputation body may have been not to tall enough (54in) to ride.
Sorry, but I can´t understand why the peopel there let ride a man without feet there! You seem to have so much Airtime and negative G-forces on that ride, for a man without feet the safty-belt cannot work.
just got home from this 3 hours ago..didn't ride this...it was broken down (not a surprize) but i did ride the viper, AND the predator...and the only un-friendly people i saw were the people at subway...thank you for trashing darien lake for where ever the hell you work @trint2004

this park was by far the most unfriendly park ive ever been too, want good service and smiling faces come to kings island, where we make sure you leave in a great mood. I will never go back to Darien Lake

I actually went on this for the first time today. My cousin was practically begging me to go on it and said that you'd regret it if you didn't because it's so fun. I'm not a HUGE rollercoaster fan, but i don't mind them, I was scared out of my mind going up the hill and getting into the carts, but as soon as we went down the hill i got a huge adrenalin rush. So anybody whos scared of this coaster, yes it seems intimidating but youll have so much fun youll completely forget about your worries.

this isn't scarey AT ALL. the worst part is going up the hill and not knowing what to expect, but as soon as you come off of that hill you have to give in and put your hands up. you'd be missing something if you went to darien and didn't ride this (:
you really should ride it!!!! its fun!!!! the scariest part is the first drop but then you get used to it and the other parts arent scary but fun!!!!! then once you go on it again youll wanna put your hands up on the first drop!!!! so basicly the only scary part is the first drop not knowing what to expect lol. It literally feels like your falling and your gunna die and 90 degree drop. (sry to scare you lol) but like i said try it just for me! and then tell me how it went!!!!!
Just sounds weird calling it "Ride Of Steel", like part of the name is missing! I know the reason why - Six Flags ended the franchise but the park still runs.
I have the "luxury" of living in CT - which puts me less than 2 hours from New England's steroidal version, but I still want to ride Darien Lake's or SFA's just for the nostalgia.
steroidal version? haha, not really, theres about a 10 foot difference, but the sfne one edfinatley has a better layout. But i still will always have Millennium Force as my number one :)
