Assuming that was on the cello's A string, a bassist should be able to do that on his/her A string as well, provided one's hand can stretch far enough on a bass's large intervals.

harmonics is when you press lightly with your finger. the true harmonics are only on one spot in the 'middle' of the string, when the sound is the loudest. they're one guitars, violins, cellos, any string instrument. however, false harmonics, im quite sure, is when you press lightly on the string amd produces a very quiet sound.. please, correct me if i'm wrong.

utsux, artificial harmonics are when you press the string in a certain place and then lightly press the same string with another finger higher, which produces a sound 2 octaves higher than the normal note
