yo it worked,. after searching for so many ways to clean and fix the stuck trackball i found some videos where some niggas was just rubbing that shit on a piece of paper but that didnt do shit for me,. but this worked, had to do it a few times but it worked and i could see the paper pull out nasty crud and shit.. i call this the heavy duty trackball cleaning solution, for those days you be texting and eating KFC at the same time and shit go down..

After knowing it was just a dust problem, I washed the trackball with an Electronics Contact Cleaner spray, used to clean computer equipment. That did it :)

Hi1 I just wanna say thank you so much. I've had problems moving my BB 9630 trackball downwards (which is a big problem since scrolling down is needed for it to function) and I came across your vid. Just followed what you did and yes! my trackball is now working fine.

I was not able to have the paper go through all the way but I think just persevering to clean at least the edges of the trackball did the trick. Some dirt was really stuck.

Thanks Zee! I use this phone for work a LOT and this worked like a charm. To those trying this at home, use one hand to roll the trackball to feed the paper, and the other to hold the strip back over the ball in the direction your rolling to help it feed.

Good video. I couldn't get the paper all the way under like you did, but after just fooling around with it, getting a little bit out @ a time. Also try rubbing your phone on a sheet of paper in between strips.

Protip: Once you get the paper through (a bit trickier than he makes it look in the vid) you can actually pop the trackball right out of the casing without having to take it all apart. I used a pressurized air duster to get all the crud out and now it works perfect.  Before I did this, I couldn't move my trackball to the left, but this 100% fixed it.

FYI: you can buy these trackballs online or if you have Sprint they can replace it with an 83xx white trackball its very simple to change and all trackballs are interchangable.

What if piece of paper rips inside? Then your really screwed, considering when you present to verizon saying you were trying out a tutorial off youtube. Listen, refer to you BB owners manual, what does is say about CLEANING your trackball? Use a q tip and r.alcohol. Reply for instructions. My track ball wouldn't go down or right. Zee! This worked perfectly. Thank you. I would suggest that the best paper to use is a thin strip cut from a dollar bill or some other monetary note. If you use an American dollar, cut right to the edge of the printing and then cut that strip in half. Works perfectly and is the strongest paper you're going to find with properties like cloth so it really cleans well.

This is a great video, and I have something helpful to add. If you use a larger strip (2mm larger than what is pictured) you can get the strip down into the ball cavity using the method shown. Don't try to push it all the way through as it will wear out the paper, just get as much in as you can and then slowly and gently pull it out by holding onto the paper. I was able to do it on multiple Tour's and it will roll the ball right out of the socket.
