  • LOL, TOOTHPASTE. first off USE baking soda. People you need to be more creative and think outside the box to by things that would be used in many different ways. AND TOOTHPASTE HAS FLUORIDE IN IT. PURE POISON.

  • Totally agree man. As much as I want to buy up every slick looking AR I see, if there is only 3 people to shoot 20 guns, a lot of them are going to sit there collecting dust. I like the idea of having at least a pistol for every common caliber (.380, 9, .40, .45, and .38/.375). I'd like to have 2 for each, but it's not economical for me. I was given a Mosin-Nagant as a gift last year. That thing is a powerhouse, and for $200 you can get the rifle and 440 rounds (spamcan). Best deal ever.

  • AMAP... as much as possible.

  • Good video. So many seem to forget, if you're engaged in a firefight in a SHTF scenario, you're either gonna get owned or win, if you win, you just got another weapon and what ammo the dirtbag was carrying. But ALWAYS remember, the fallen may be covered by another shooter. I suggest for tactics and something a lot dont consider, go to youtube and type in "Monsters of Anarchy" You have to think people. Again, thanks for the post.

  • Hey Dave, this is a good, practical post. I like the part about your enemy saying "hey its only a FMJ and not a hollow point." You're right because I'm sure it will hurt getting shot. I think people feel that way about .22 ammo. Sure it's not as powerful but if I have to fire on an intruder, it would just be one round I'm sending their way. I go by this: If anyone is worth shooting once, they're worth shooting a lot. Thanks again!

    SrA. Leo

  • I didn't know Denny Hamlin was a dooms day prepper ! ! !

  • And as a pyro: 3:24 "20K of ammo+fire"=Hell of a show!

  • Never gave too much thought to these deferent situations so thanks, I think.

  • 5000 rounds.

  • I would believe all ammo is self defence ammo...............just saying..

  • Budget Idea: Steel plates that are sold as body armor are typically A500 steel, which is 470 - 550 Brinell hardness. The typical metal shop wont have more than A400 steel, which is 350 - 470 Brinell. The plates need to be 470 to provide LIII protection. A400 is used for cowboy action shooting targets, which are a LIIIA threat, but we're after stopping a double tap, not repeated impacts. Also, the A500 is stand alone. A surplus kevlar panel behind the A400 10"x12" should bring the protection up.

  • Forgot to mention, a metal shop quoted me $50 for two 10'' x 12'' A400 .25" plates, I also bought two surplus PASGT era Kevlar panels at a surplus store. The idea is to do the project yourself and save money.

    My sources, can't post links:

    - Bulletproofme, look under plates, then steel.

    - artzentargets, look under steel types.

  • Atomic bombs are good for prepping

  • sounds like a reasonable amount of ammo , and if ya can aford more its a bonus ! thanks for sharing .

  • If you've got 20,000 rounds of ammo, go rob someone for what you need!

  • as usual, excellent vid, thanks for the insight!

  • Thanks for the vid, very informative...now how many magazines should we have for each rifle/pistol?

  • the guy who scares me is someone who is professionally trained to carry, shoot and operate all of his sam-saw's.....like me.

Training is key. Get out and find the perimeters of ALL your firearms, because your life may someday depend on it.

  • I took my mosin out to the range today. I have taken the rear sight mount off in order to mount a weaver adapter on the hidden dovetail rail. That is currently my only rear sight. I was hitting a 12 inch steel plate at 300 yards consistently with my surplus spam can rounds. The guy next to me had an AR-15, which he told me he had put over $1500 into, including a very nice leupold scope. He was about 50% accurate at the same plate. Id rather take cheap and easy over a pricey safe queen any day.

  • Great Video and solid advice I have to constantly stay on family members to stop buying more guns and ammo I am the only one who has bought Hygene products I bought a pallet of toilet paper at sams just one trip because they fail to get message. Would like to also remind everyone if you catch a cold like the strain going around right now that settles in your chest and you have no decongestant stored like guafenisin you can die in 48hours so spend some money on mucinex

  • Buying ammo created a file for my law abiding mother.

  • @wwe107 we have all got files on us. Unless she has ever been fingerprinted, I wouldn't worry.

  • Please tell me, What is WROL?

  • @Rialto57 without rule of law or shtf or crap has hit the fan.

  • What are your thoughts on using dogs as alarm systems as well as protection of home and farm? Right now, I just have two border collies, great for herding, but not great at alerting to danger. I just wanted your thoughts as I appreciate your approach to most things. If you had to pick between german shep, rottie or pit, which way would you go? Thanks and I enjoy your videos.

  • @craig79792000 Germans bark at everything, rotts seldom bark, but they will sneak...pits are attackers too. Dobermanns are good for both.

  • @pillowbugg Do they co-exist with other dogs well? The two I have are very territorial and get along well. They tolerate other dogs as long as they are willing to be beta's. In their minds they are large and in charge and I don't want to burst that bubble. It is good when a dog has confidence, I just dont want to introduce a new member that might dominate or challange for alpha. Too much time and effort invested in training them to risk breaking their spirit.

  • As always, I learn a ton from your videos. Thanks for sharing your heart and mind with us. Is there a negative with storing ammo in magazines for immediate use in an attack scenario? Will it damage either the ammo or the magazines?

  • @CinnaNym Usually no. Some specific older plastic types had a problem of cracking at the top/back. The plastic mags made today are of better quality. If you use plastic(thermo mold) mags, you might down load them by two rounds to decrease pressue on the feed lips.

    With metal mags, no problem.

Note: Springs wear from cycling action not static pressure.

  • @CinnaNym I keep the majority of my ammo in my gun safe in surplus ammunition boxes. I do, however, keep four magazines fully charged for my Glock .45 and for my Rock River tactical carbine, I have three loaded Mag-pul 30 rounders [ loaded to 28 rounds to avoid putting a ''set'' on the magazine springs] set aside, and a shoulder pouch with six 30 round mags [ loaded with 28 rds for the above stated reason ] next to the AR in my safe.. I swap out the rounds and give the mag a break

  • @CinnaNym Furthermore, if events call for it, I can always load up more mags...not only for my Glock and AR, but for my Taurus 9mm and both of my .22 rifles, but I think that 48 rds of .45 acp and immediate access to 249 rds of .223 ball ammo SHOULD be enough to address any immediate threat...just my opinion...

  • I love my Ar-15, i can buy 500 rounds for little over hundred bucks. Now pistol and shotgun ammo.... geez talk about needing a money tree. I buy a few boxes of each. Considering shotgun ammo is about a buck a shell and pistol ammo is even worse. I purchase .40 ammo for about 30 bucks per 50 rounds. It's just insane.

  • buying ammo is the same as converting currencies. After the collapse there's nothing you can buy with paper.. Its all barter at that point and what light weight, high value, trade-able object will be more sought after than ammo? Another reason to have a suppressor; if you go out in the woods shooting at food you will very likely find yourself being hunted for your ammo.

  • @symbolsandsystems or get a .22 because its pretty quiet even without suppressor

  • @symbolsandsystems Good analogy on ''converting currencies''...IMHO the .22 lr and ANY 12 Gauge ammo will morph into ''ballistic wampum'' in a survival situation. Make damn sure you retain enough for your own needs and utilize the rest as trading stock..Just remember the old axiom ''Amongst the blind, the one-eyed man is KING ''....

  • I stockpile ammo because they could ban it or make it impossible to get in the future. Which would render guns useless.

  • @Kliffton415 Just like water, ammo will NEVER lose it's value..It may very well be the difference between life and death or starving vs having enough to eat...

  • Another great video. Simple, basic, and helpful. That is what is needed.

  • Case of beer, bottle of whiskey and one bullet. I don't want to live in a mad max world.

  • @InspireImages the beauty of america...we each can face a problem and come up with our own plan

  • @southernprepper1 Very informative video! One worth sharing with other people. I agree with you. Take from the information what you will. I never want to shoot anyone! But, I have the right to defend myself with lethal means, if so required. There were many other valuable points, as well.

  • @InspireImages why not? mad max is fuckin awesome.

  • @InspireImages Can I have your gun when you're dead? Let me know what kind it is now so I can get a few boxes of ammo for it before SHTF :)

  • @InspireImages It would probably be better than living in the vile joke of a world you're living in now.

  • @InspireImages If you can't be happy without grocery stores and electricity, you should see a psychologist.

  • @InspireImages I wish politicians had your same plan for dealing with adversity.

  • @InspireImages AHAHAH

You're a funny guy! I'd love to live in one of those because it would be no different to me, i really have nothing to lose

  • No such thing as too much ammo or magazines IMO.

  • I like that statment @ 7:30 " I would rather be judged by a jury (12) than carried by 6 friends. 12/6

  • I would LMAO if I shot someone and he said "that's only a full metal jacket, why aren't you using hollow point?"

  • How much ammo to stock for SHTF or WROL is a variable question. A basic rule of thumb is, as much as you can possibly afford, and like adamslurch71 said, of any caliber, as that becomes barter materials.

But realistically it depends on what you are planning to be facing. If you intend to evade and avoid human contact and interaction in the wilderness, a few hundred to a thousand rounds will do, but if you intend to be in firefights, I would say, no less than 10,000 rnd per weapon, it goes fast

  • If you are going to stock large amounts of soap, shampoo, toothpaste, hand cream etc. you can VERY cheaply make your own. Its not hard at all and you can easily make a lifetime supply.

If you have gas lamps in your house you can make your own producers gas and run them indefinitely on that.

3 extra pair of boots is worth more than the same $ value in ammo.

Buy good leather work gloves by the box (25 to 50 sets).

You are right, only buy quality.

  • One of the best videos on youtube! Thanks!

  • @borderraven I would say buy a brick off 22 5000 rounds 22 are so cheap like 200.00 for 5000 round then another fill ammo can

  • what if i have a double barrel shotgun? between my 870 and my over under 12 gauge, i only have 250 rounds of bird shot stocked. I am going to buy another case of 250 rounds of bird shot after Christmas. Will 500 rounds be good between two shotguns? What is your opinion on this? Also i am going to buy 1000 rounds of .22 in January sometime.

  • @mbrowneproductions throw some .00 and a few slugs to round out the birdshot

  • I lived in the Philippines for 30 days with toilet paper, so tp is psychological addiction you can overcome. The cops sensationalize private gun and ammo inventory through the media. Such popular phrases like "hundreds of guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition" are used to panic the public and make guns and gun owners look "evil". I say a minimum 1,000 rds per gun and caliber, is a good start, but avoid the point where some freak accident invites cops with a search warrant and the media.

  • There are only TWO times when you can have too much ammo... When you are on fire or when you are drowning...

  • @borecleaner1 or when u gotta carry it. i worked at fedex and ammo is HEAVY

  • @borecleaner1

What about when your vest is packed with so many mags ur slow ass gets klipped down?

  • I own 1AR 15, with 1,000 rounds, 1Winchester 1300 with 500 rounds, 2 Kel Tec 9mm a P9 and a P11 with 1,000 rounds, 2 AR7 Winchester Survival Rifles with 2,000 rounds. Its crazy but the way I came up with these numbers is I bought army surplus ammo cans and filed them to the point where I can still carry them to the truck lol All my supplies are in buckets or tots that way I can Truck Bug Out and one of the AR7 is in my BOB with 200 rounds

  • @DavidGummer

nice. i have similar #s and calibers. i use BOB strategy, too.

    ammo, metals, first aid,food, etc

i have no problem manuevering 40lb filled bucket. i keep buckets at 35 pounds or less. i keep them 25 feet away from 8ft bed 4x4, tank always on FULL..

7 gal aquatainers weigh 56 pounds.

5 gal fuel containers weigh 40 lb.

    18 gal roughneck totes.

they ALL fit nicely in a pickup bed.

IF i cant defend my home, im rdy to fall back to plan B, hoping to return to reclaim whats left.

  • @DavidGummer

Bert Gummer would be ashamed of you Bragging about what you have. That is most Definately NOT most critical Need to know information for anyone on this site. All you have done is provide the Ministry of Reich Security a target with exact inventory.

NOT SMART with FEMA Campst coming on line starting mid Feb 2012. Lots of luck there

  • I am not a prepper but for some reason I love watching these vids good work sir and thanks for all the tips and for the funny looks the missus gives me when we go shopping and I keep buying canned goods we dont need. oh shit I think that means I am a prepper oh well.

  • I appreciate SP1 for the things you do and the information you post. Several years ago a balanced approach is precisely what I recommended as well to my friends and family. Today, it is vitally prudent to just concentrate on food, water and self defense for anyone that is just beginning their preparations. I encourage everyone to speak to their friends and family about preparing for very, very hard times.

  • Thank you :-)

  • Dude I so saw you and the history channel recently when they did a show about prep-pers and I am truly amazed at the extent you and your family have taken it. I think you’re right on and you all have covered everything. Combining your talents and your friends engineering talents you all have covered a wide gamete of scenarios. I’m not even close to the level you all are at, but if you ever need an extra gun on the gate just let me know.

  • Very wise words. I believe a lot of people load up on ammo and not other items. Maybe they plan on "Taking" what they want from others, but the best bet is a balance. I also believe in having the barter items: ammo, alcohol, food, etc. to trade with people that were ill prepared for things you may have missed. Really like your videos, keep it up!

  • Great video, good info. I used to be the guy with 30 guns but I realized a few years ago that its better to a few good guns and know how to use them, and less types of ammo you have to have.

  • this is a typical prepper . he IS the stereotype. I don't know how many people I have met who consider themselves prepared because they have a basement full of beans & rice and have 10 guns for every person in the house, but they don't know simple things like which direction do storms comes from, where is their nearest source of water without electricity, what diseases insects in their area carry...they are still expecting someone else to take care of them. typical.

  • @TrinityRewind this guy was on tv you idiot. he has everything. a truck that runs on wood even

  • I LOVE ur channel!!!!!! really GREAT stuff!!!! thanks....

  • Sorry for the vent but FMJ vs non-FMJ is part of the how much should I get arguement. Over all your vids are good, no overly dramatic hyperbole. I'm impressed with your homestead. Looking at doing something similar on my land starting next year. Will be 100% off grid with ~24KW solar :) when complete.

  • I hate the "stopping power" subject simply because the only thing that can stop anyone is an insta kill. EVERY round including the .17HMR has this potential. You put a .380FMJ into someone's pelvis and they will drop in one step. The lowly .22short and LR are tied in the assasins choice. Just look at RFK's assination and Regean's attempted for the effectiveness of the .22. In the Regan instance all but Regan were dropped when shot meaning the .22 had knockdown power.

  • If you an aquaponic system then use the chinampa method which is time tested & time proven for thousands of years. They consistently out produce modern methods by 3 to 4 times, recycles wastes from the water w/c also irrigates them while producing fish protein. Plant also edible cattails to add to the diet & to improve water quality. Add azolla as a nitrogen rich fertilizer & fish food & floating caged water hyacinths to prevent water eutrophication, use vetiver to stabilize the chinampa's sides

  • As for water dig the deepest well w/c is artesian well wherein water flows up on it's own. As for power, use a stirling generator heated by a heat absorbing ceramic material on the roof and insulated by a heat-repelling ceramic and powers a simplified atmospheric water generator(s) and well insulated air wells to produce water from the air. Living Machine-based water filters and disinfectant plants and natural chlorine bearing mineral sands.

  • Make sure to stock up and use only certified GE-FREE and/or GMO-FREE, non-hybrid, traditional heirloon seeds. As much as possible use perennial food crops and survivor crops like maca, sweet cassava, etc. Multi-fuelled stirling brushless generators. Use medicinal grade castor oil mixed wt silicone lubricants for things mechanical. An electrician tool shop and stockpiles for electricals and electronics. Slide rules, mechanical calculators, abacus and archival quality books-based library on them

  • Plant an indoor container garden using three basic plants. The sweet potatoes, the peanuts, and the annual Mexican Marigolds known as TAGETES MINUTA. The sweet potatoes and peanuts combined together provides a complete nutrition and tagetes minuta known as annual mexican marigolds protects them against plants pests and diseases. Use rock powders and charcoal powders liberally for soil fertility maintenance to last many decades to come, especially for medicinal herbal plants container gardens

  • Stockpile on food grade salt. It was brined beef that allowed sailors to travel for years around world, it was sauerkraut and preserved lime juice that allowed Captain Cook and his men survive diseases and malnutrition on their years long journey in the seas. Use food grade diatomaceous earth to preserve grains inside sealed safe containers and add some minerals and trace elements to the diet. Plant a lot of insecticidal plants inside and outside the house for insects spreads diseases.

  • The best of the best is the AK-47, about dozens of them, a machine tool shop for their maintenance and repairs and inspection and cleaning. A lot of ammunition and ammunition making machine tool shop wt a complete hardware stockpile of all kinds of hardware. Use copper jacketed ammo to reduce wear and tear on your rifles. Use high capacity magazines and a modified belt-fed AK-47s. Nano-silver and/or colloidal silver of all kinds. Books on all subjects and knowledge, IT systems breaks down.

  • I would recommend having all (if possible) the same rifles. Meaning all AR's, all AK, all 30-06. Hence you would need only one type of round and just stock up on that one type.

  • i really got to say i got alot of respect! ive been watching nutnfancy and i mean i like his vids but hes alway about running the most tactial and the most expensive and im 18 i make 7.45 a hour and got to pay for living i can't aford a ar-15 with all the fancy stuff i got a cheap ak47 and a 20 gauge shotgun i feel your more about the survival and being prepared.. thank you for the amazing videos i hope to see more

  • Arrl.org is a good place to start. they've got a list of all of the possible test questions on their website...and it's free. They've also got links to online classes and a list of local places who offer the license exam. And yea, it can get as expensive as you want. Or you can dip your toe and be on the air for relatively cheap. Personally, I like the little hand held 2-meter radios for emergency prepping. ($150-$400), + extra batteries. All of the disaster networks in my area are on 2 meters.

  • wat wrol

  • Southernprepper1, I actually came to your channel through my son who had mentioned you. It was nice to see a video on firearms with a sensible approach. I have friends that also feel a possible economic meltdown might occur, there whole peppering is in firearms and just get carried away. On the FMJ ammo, this have been mentioned, buy for target practice and reload with hollow points, just buy the better quality brass.

  • After 500 rounds per shooter mine gets squirreled away in various places off site so I don't lose it all n if I need to EnE or fire/tornado hits. I dont want more on hand than I can carry ,am willing to lose, or more than what I need to retrograde n get to my closest caches. The same goes for food n other preps but I keep more of it close in a cellar. Some lost everything by not doing that bc of tornadoes this spring. Like the saying goes it's best not to put all your eggs in one basket imho

  • thats way to much cuz how r u going to carry it i would rather have a gun then half that stuff

  • @butchybaby2 I hope I dont have to carry anything. I will stay right here.

  • @southernprepper1 are you worried about martial law and possible gun confiscation if you stay put?

  • @southernprepper1 When they pull up with a Striker, Bradly or something else with a 20mm or a Fifty you'll change your mind on that..

  • @southernprepper1 My thoughts exactly. I'm staying home for as long as I can.

  • @butchybaby2 Learn martial arts. Not karate, take up boxing or thai. And just carry a small handgun, and that stuff.

  • @butchybaby2 You can very easily carry over two thousand rounds for a 22 rifle in your pack. It takes no space and doesn't weight that much.

  • Perfect answer to the question. I feel the same way.

  • 25 reloads is a unique concept. you know I have heard everything from 500 to 2000 rounds. My take on it is, depending on if you bugging out or staying in place will determine alot. Humping alot of ammo is out. Basic load of 5.56 is 210 rds 30rdsx7mags. but I like this idea it seems to fill some voids. thanks as always for your post

  • Regarding ammo, I understand that during Vietnam, on average, it took 50,000 rounds of ammo to kill just one enemy soldier. BUT, that ratio was 1.3 rounds of ammo per kill for a sniper. Keep the bad guys far off with an AK and pick them off with a scope.

And regarding multiple rifles in the gun case, there is strength in numbers. Handing a few guns out to your less than prepared neighbors during a WROL situation is one way to avoid the problematic one man vs the hungry mob standoff.

  • you can wipe your ass with you hand if needed they still do it in some places today

or you could use a soft rag and wash it

  • i concur with your analysis pretty much .. i think two long guns/total 500-1000 round and any pistol i prefer a .22 will do you for a lifetime of 'surviving' .. your not going to fend off the marauding hordes thats a fallacy, put your money into other things you will need or your going to be using all those fancy weapons eventually to oppress people .. a .22 rifle and several thousand rounds of ammo for game and/or defense is key in my book . better have sustainable water and a garden + supplies

  • FMJs are good when fighting mobs coming at you. If you want to shoot multiple people in a mob type situation, you want through and through because it may let you get two bad guys with one shot. Hollow points will usually stay in the person you're shooting and are good for ROL and suburban or city carry as you don't want innocents to get hit when you're defending yourself. Yes, hollow points have better stopping power, but FMJs have better penetration, good through wall characteristics.

  • Beautiful vid. thanks for the info

  • i think in a real desperate situation, you can use ammo to get anything alse you need.

And i do have a Mosin Nagant and 440 rds fot 72 bucks.

  • i think in a real desperate situation, you can use ammo to get anything alse you need.

  • As i live in australia, many of the people that i have discussed your lifestyle think that your crazy. however the truth is they dont really think that, they just have an over confidence in the stability of our life and our government. having read much about the threats to the american economy (and world economy) i have come to the conclusion that you and people like you are actually the only sane and sensible ones!Great posts SP, keep it up. i thank you as you have given me lots to think about

  • I like your approach to prepping...balance is good. I noticed your comm gear didn't include a ham radio? You can pick up a good handheld 2m radio for $150-$200 bucks...and it's pretty easy to get your license nowadays, since they did away with the morse code requirement...(just saying). Anyway, I think you're on the right track with what you are doing. One thing I might add is you may want to look into getting some radiation detection equipment. A CDV-717 is $40 on Ebay, and could save your life

  • @zulucowboy Ham is on the list and a few good guys I know are trying to find one that fits into my budget. I have a geiger counter. I keep it in a Faraday box.

  • @zulucowboy

Nice thing is that once a SHTF/WROL situation actually happens the requirement for having a license to operate an Amateur Radio goes out the window at that point. So anyone who doesn't want to purchase a radio because of the requirement to have the license should think again. Once SHTF all rules, laws, etc are gone. Your out to survive at that point and anything you can do to survive you're going to do.

  • @wildbill23c You are correct sir...actually, you don't have to have your ham license to purchase a radio before TSHTF. You just have to have one before you can legally transmit on it. But it's pretty easy to get your Technician level license. You pay your $15 and take a 35 question, multiple choice test. And I believe you have to get 80%. Then you can transmit on many of the frequencies. There is no Morse code requirement anymore. The FCC then issues you a call sign, and it's good for 10 years.

  • @zulucowboy

I've been looking into getting my license and then look at it and say well its going to turn into another rather expensive hobby just like gun collecting LOL. You can certainly get thousands of dollars tied up in amateur radio. I'll probably be getting my license within the next few months as my financial situation straightens out. I've been watching quite a few videos, and a series of videos on youtube for the technician license so I think once I'm done with them I'll be set.

  • you need as much as you can possibly carry/store/get its that plain and simple for me. i just happen to have the money to stock up on everything i want or need lucky me and family. but i know there are many that cant so i also stock a lot of trades stuff such as food gear meds toiletres etc. i plan to mostly give to ppl that seem to be sketchy the type you might get attacked by if you dont trade something also for friends who are willing to at least join forces & work together in community style

  • buy gold... & guns ...but gold first :)

  • @shanemacc without a gun first you cant protect your gold just saying. :)

  • @FixedByDoc Wish I could give this comment a thousand thumbs up!

  • @BPKesq 8)

  • i like your formula for ammo. the one problem is people are thinking that their going to be running around shoot up the place like the wild west. i beleive in haveing weapons for hunting and self defense. im as guilt as anyone about think in a WROL scenero that will be running around dispensing justice like the movies. the fact is i plan on hiding alot! lol! its doesnt add up to be trying to surive and go looking for a gun fight. the guns and ammo are the fun part of prep, not the most important.

  • I live in a region where it is difficult to obtain a gun licience, I plan to invest in a compound bow or compound crossbow, does anyone have any suggestions for other projectile weapons that are readily available

  • I live in a region where it is difficult to obtain a gun licience, I plan to invest in a compound bow or compound crossbow, does anyone have any suggestions for other projectile weapons that are readily available

  • @0infiniteintel0 i have owned both a compound bow and crossbow and for survivalist purposes i would only stick with the compound bow. it is far quicker to load and generally more accurate with greater range. also easier to carry. just an opinion!!

  • Good vid. Reloading is a good way to shoot, train and save money. On a single stage press I can reload 100 rounds in about an hour. With the various weights and powders you can reload a .223 round with the energy of a .22 LR (with Trail Boss powder) perfect for small game or a 'heavy' 75 gr that will take down big game. Speaking of training... people should take a class. Plinking at a flat range is not training. A $2000 AR isn't going to do anybody any good if they don't know how to use it.

  • another great vid,thank you.

  • Good call with the fire extinguishers. Man that would be devastating. Such a simple thing to get...

  • @aussiedog29 Taking a fire extinguisher class should also be part of the plan. Most local fire departments will teach you how. I got mine through the military, thankfully, I was able to put the training to use after an old Mustang of mine caught fire, at a gas station of all places...

  • Great video that is down to earth, and has a wider view than others. Thanks!

  • Well, 25 reloads for my Mosin = 125 and I just bought a tin of 440... good on that!

  • We had a discussion over at Survivalistboards. Conclusion, you can go through 200 rounds in a practice session. Odds are that a non prepped family member has shown up at the door. Five practice sessions can eat through all you have. So, make that at least several thousand rounds per weapon.

On a side note, .22 lr is cheap. Getting over 10k rnds is easy for your Ruger or Marlin 22. Usable for most situations.

  • Love your videos! 1 thing that comes to mind seeing your surgical kit is sterilization. Your kit is nicely packed and CLEAN but, it's not STERILE. A simple staph infection from unsterile instruments can kill. If you have a regular dentist or Dr. that you see, take your kit in with you on your next visit. they will be happy to sterlilize everything up for you. They will stay sterlie as long as they are kept wrapped and dry. Search Dry heat or chemical sterilization for after a WROL situation.

  • You made a very good recommendation that I have also been making for many years. New preppers should start out with a 1 week supply of essentials and slowly increase those supplies as time and money permit. I tell people to begin with these essential categories: 1) food, 2) water, 3) heat (firewood, propane, etc.), 4) light (flashlights, candles, lanterns) and 5) power (batteries, etc.). A list like this is simple and once people start they are motivated to continue.

  • Alittle off topic but on my .223 loading ive been doing lately ive been using sealer on all the bullets and the primers to weather proof them. Anyone had any experience with this? Markron Custom Bullet/Primer Sealer is the name on it i think.

  • As much as you can your hands on... It wont get any cheaper...

  • you can rig up your own hollow points if you drill the bullets

  • My rule on ammo is an odd one to most people, when ever I find cheap ammo no matter the caliber, even if I dont have a firearms that uses said ammo I will buy it. Think about it in a WROL, is money really gonna mean anything to anyone? No but if you have ammo to trade for medicine or food there you go, and if that ammo is something you dont have a firearm for then you dont pull out of your own stockpile. Secondly if you acquire a firearm that uses that ammo your already prepared. Think ahead

  • @adamslurch71 True

  • Ammunition! What value toilet paper if they are shooting your ass off. Simple minimum 500 rounds for each handgun and 1000 rounds for each rifle as you can afford it.

  • great video my feeling is dont have any more than u feel like carrying thats how i feel i dont want to have 2000 rounds of 12 gauge and try to to stroll around

  • That is one of the benefits of the AK 74, the rifle itself can be had for under $500 and surplus ammo can be had at $135 for 1080 rounds.

  • WROL? IS that something like SHTF ?

  • @ForTheRepubl1c Yes about the same. WROL=without rule of law or I have changed it to also mean without regular ordinary life. This could include being laid off, lossing job or when your life is turned upside down and you will probably need to dip into your savings or food and other supplies that you laid back. It doesnt have to be the end of the world it might just be you hit some bad luck and need to use your stockpile to get you thru tough times.

  • @southernprepper1

That's a decent explanation, I've never seen WROL before and actually came across it twice today, so I had to ask.

  • Great video, But out of all the videos leave out one important thing, Where do you live? People in the big citys have 80 percent less chance of survival.I live about 9 hours north of any major city. Any advice for me? I have videos up of some of my gear, just lookin for some suggestions

  • @ProllySmokin Also to think about people in big city's will need more ammo. There will be more threats.

  • I am really impressed with your vid. Keep up the good work and thank you for some good insight... I am one of'em with one rifle and one pistol... with a ton of ammo. ☺

  • hey you shot me with a FMJ not a hollow point . haha big kudos man .

  • How about if someone gets very ill or injured? How about a doctor or hospital? How about medicine? How about a mob of unruly armed people? How about the mob finds out about your cache? Most survivalists are very equipment oriented but light on tactics and strategy. Be careful, survivalists tend to think they have all bases covered because they are stocked out. Prepare for the impossible hope for a miracle.

  • Ya, without soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deoderant... the enemy will be able to smell you from a mile away!! "Your ambush would have been more effective if you bathed more often" hahahaha....

  • Situation dictates what & how much you need. Will things be down a week? 6 months? Indefinetly?

    Adapt and Overcome

  • Great video. A weapon does not do you much good if you starve to death, and food does not do you much good if someone shots you in the head and takes it. You do have to think about everthing you need. I currently have about 3 months of everthing exept water and gasoline. I am currently working on both of those to bring them up to standard.

  • I think reloading can give you more bang for the buck. That's my experience anyway.

  • @1st1shot Also if things get reall bad (lets hope they do not) you still have a source of possible ammo for the future.

  • i am new to prepping, in a couple weeks i have obtained quiet a bit. i bought 3 inexpensive h&r shotguns for $189 a piece just to get started. what are the spare parts i need to repair my guns if they break; i mean what are the most common pieces that break? if anyone could answer that it would be much appreciated.

  • im pretty sure i could survive a LOT longer with no tooth paste than i could with no ammo. lol

  • @ninja5672 Dont tell your dentist this....he will not be happy with you.

  • @ninja5672 until you lose your teeth and cant eat

  • I'm the guy with 2 guns. a marlin 30-30 and an AK.... the 30-30 would be secured during a bug out and the AK has 2 slide rails, one set with a Leatherwood reddot and another with a 4-16x50 Barska scope. That gives me a lot of flexibility, tactical and great stand off capability. 7.62 ammo is cheap, about .17 to .20 cents per round. I plan on buying high grade ammo and shorter 10 round mags for my stand off side, but all the rest is cheap. Lead wall at my finger tip!

  • excellent video. it is easy to get tunnel vision when it comes to stocking up on certain items. i.e. ammo, guns etc.. these are just more "sexy" than say a fire extinguisher, or rope... thanks for the perspective!!

  • Great vid buddy. You have some great ideas.

  • question regarding ammo - I reload my own ammo, but for long term storage would you recommend for instance 5.56 vs. .223 reloads. I know that Mil. ammo has a better crimp and boxed primer...your thoughts

  • you can pick up some gen 1 night vision on ebay for 50 bucks. ammo i just buy whats availbele every week

  • Here is my magic formula,,,5000 rounds per gun x 23 guns = 7,893,267,,lol

  • @Twistedtwin41 well just don't use it then. but at least you will have it at hand. it all depends on the situation.

  • We use 22 LR I buy a 550 box a month better than investing in gold silver. Pistol riffle both run the same stuff. As for cleaning supplies we buy by the gallon when we buy at the store. Toilet paper you need to see "aware patriots" channel smart conservative. See MDI domes for water filtration go to their store cheapest way to filter water. Save your food cans to build stoves get little fans from walmart have AA battery rechargers for both radio and fan for cooking.

  • Is dragon skin armour worth it for all out WROL? It would be nice to/perhaps required to stop 7.62, I welcome any thoughts please.

Ferfal has said that armour that can be worn under clothing is required for a slow collapse and therefore handgun and perhaps shotgun, any brands/models anyone can reccomend? Many thanks.

  • @reefcut Iam a big believer in body armour and plates. This is a big investment but one I think is worth it. But first you need to cover the main items first. Like shelter, water, food, medicine, personal hygenie and a bunch more then work on body armour and night vision. I personally have a vest and plate sfor everyone in family. This is me and what I want to have if it makes me sleep better at night then it was a wish investment for me. Everyone has to answer the armour question for them

  • @southernprepper1

I think armour is important as well, I am no mercenary so I need all the extra help I can get, its easier to win the lottery than get a gun where I am in germany but I know there are plently of hunting rifles that will fall into the wrong hands in a WROL situation. We are also not far from the czech republic which has a lot of guns for sure and a lot of them are ex soviet AK47's. Getting close to it on my list, you are light years ahead of me.Thanks for your great vids.

  • @southernprepper1 In what situations will you put your armour on and how will you know?

  • @MrSizzlingsilver If I was at my retreat I would not be wearing it until a threat was seen. Having it ready and set out would be what I would do. Being able to put it on quickly is what I would be going for.
