  • OMFG LEGACI AUDITIONED FOR SM?!!?!?!??!?!?!?!

  • And well if you do actually make it, it doesn't mean you are about to ba a star they will keep training you and if you get bad they release you

  • They actually only accept Asians it even says on their site not to be rasicst or anything but they were like Koreans, Chinese, Thai etc Check it at smtown.com

  • Since most people who actually got in SM have to train for at least a couple of years, wouldn't they accept more people who are younger? I'm thinking about SNSD, BoA, Shinee, and how most members started when they were 12 or 13 years old.

  • its not like they WANT to reject non-asians. most of them have more talent than us koreans. but its the fans that dont like it. my cousin said so but... yeah, amber, ukiss members, 2pm, miss A, they all have foreign members. (:

  • Is the Sm audition still going on?

  • I was thinking about going but every one says they only take asians and just reject anyone else even if the try out and since I have caramel skin i guess I have no chance.....

  • @sorakairimeanslove if they only took asians they wouldn't hold auditions in LA.

  • Does SME still hold auditions in L.A?

  • @mitchiepineda

    yeh~of course

the recent audition was just over

  • @WenSNSDslh101013 When was the last one? and how will you know if there is one? THANKS! :)

  • Souu that means if you are NOT korean you can't enter?

    Hmm~

  • @GabiStar78 you can but you're most likely gonna get rejected, but you might possibly be lucky and get accepted.

  • @TrueColors33 oh thanks ^^

  • O.O

  • whats the song at :02? ._.

  • @Flytothesky8595 :D if u auditioned and i worked at SM i would let u in XD Mexico is aweosome XD and im not as racisit as sm XD

  • @Flytothesky8595 lol ur qulaified! :D :D

  • omg....i totally ahve a chance! :D :D lol

  • omg xD

  • Korea isn't known to be a "melting pot" like the US. To tell the truth, when i see a person audition, who knows they have NO chance, it pisses me off a little, because that's just a waste of the judge's time.

  • i like the dancing group. :3

  • i thought you have to sing songs in korean ???

  • for this video. i only the band group audition.

  • wait, so you HAVE to be asian to be accepted? or are they planning on letting different races debut? caause I'm white, and I really want to be a singer in Korea, but if they're not accepting non-asians, then what's the point in auditioning??

  • @gdragonsuperjunior They say all nationality, that's bull. Look at this, in china, there are chinese singers. in america, you see american singers. so what about korea? Obviously korean or asain! It's harsh, but it's the truth. now you would feel how we asains feel when WE try to audition in america and get rejected. :/

  • @xxmilkixx I know, I think it's BS. Even the most talented Singer caould be in front of them and they'll reject bacause of race. It's the most stupid thing ever

  • @gdragonsuperjunior thank you for understanding and not bashing. :D I've told others that SM or any korean/chinese/asain companies want asains, and they bashed on me. :(

  • @xxmilkixx yeah, some people are blind to what's going on, which is ridiculous -_-

  • @xxmilkixx but there are lots of different singers in america not exactly always just americans. i think if you try hard and do your best you could make it. sounds corny i know but it's the truth. i mean yeah if you were auditioning for sm ent and were a latina you probably wouldn't get accepted but there's a small chance you could be accepted IF you're good enough.

  • @TrueColors33 I think you should be replying this comment to gdragonsuperjunior, not me. I know about this LONG ago.

  • @xxmilkixx There are asian singers in america :p

  • @GabiStar78

though there is , how many reach , for example, lady gaga popularity ?

  • i know what SM Entertainment is and I'm Mexican...i was going to audition..but now I'm feeling like I shouldn't do it b/c I'm not Asian....well....idk....it's SM Entertainment USA so I feel they will or at least should be more diverse in choosing their trainees even if they don't pick me.....w/e

  • SM also bases things on their looks... But... If you see Tiffany Hwang's predebut pics, she was pretty dark skinned... And once you get accepted and become trainee they'd probably bring you to a dermatologist and such to make your skinn pretty and white :D

  • oh my.... tht asian guy rapping... HAHAHAHAH

  • i wish they come around england :(

  • Do you have to be light-skinned ?

if yes, then i fail . lol .

  • everyone in these vids are the ones that don't make it.

  • 1:19 looks like JYP! XD

  • The group in the beginning looked like they were trying really hard to get picked up. But honestly, just but looking at them I don't think they did.

  • did anyone from here actually become a idol in sm?

  • Comment removed

  • .maybe if you're REALLY good and they think you'll make money, then maybe you'll get in, whatever nationality. but if you don't have the bloodline, and you're nothing special then i doubt you'll get in. SME is biased like that. =3=

  • ahhh i don't think they let non asians go in, u be lucky if u looked asian but not and u get in,....just don't tell anyone xD

  • there is no different of man in white shirt when he's close or open his eyes

  • is that del from legaci in the first group singing?

  • if they dont like non-asians why dont they make an audition in asia?

  • @YoonArOx

They do have auditions in Asia. But there are other talented Asians outside of Asia that's what they're looking for.

  • Did you guy notice that most of the auditioners in his audition clip isnt all korean? its mix of full of asian.

  • Comment removed

  • does filipino count?

  • Im chinese, filipino and american but im more chinese american...is that allowed?

  • @sagenxandra Im sure everyone is allow to audition. The girl who audition for SF in the white is a traniee and she full thai.

  • people in this vid made it into sm trainees? or not?

  • its still a form of racism if they ONLY accept asians... im not complaining but what if like really good foreigner auditions and doest get jack lol

  • so u have to be korean? to audition?

  • WAS THAT LEGACI?!

  • @Mellerzx3Taengoo

i think, that was legacy, their faces were so familiar

  • that girl and boy r bad at singing especially the boy.

  • AHAHAHAH!!!! THESE AUDITION TAPES ARE HELLA FUNNY!!! but at 2:15 they have LOTS OF POTENTIAL!! hope they get in!

  • who was that rock band in the beginning?

  • @ 1:00

LOL the white guy looks so funnny

  • ZOMG~! 0:39 thats legaci! i didnt know they auditioned for SM!

  • sm entertianment (: is into looks mostly but if you have talent thats a plus, and i think you have to speak some korean.

  • @kimmaeztar

no, they look at your talent and potential first (acting, singing, dancing, mc-ing, stage performance, etc.), and then before you audition, you go through an extreme make-over (plastic surgery, make-up, facial massage/exercise, etc.). just look at most of the idols pre-debut photos. can you honestly say that most were pretty/good-looking? no offense, but half of them were ugly or just average. people tend to think that sm judges mostly on looks, but that is not true at all...

  • @busaaan Thats tru. JYP is more of a company based on looks outta the three or four bigger companies(SM, YG, JYP, some say Cube)

  • @busaaan actually, NOW they start to accept those with better appearance. that was because before, they have people do surgery, and now, they can't, so their pickings have to be already beautiful or pretty.

so SM is now looking for looks first then talent.

  • @xxmilkixx what kinda looks sm wants, asian look, hansome look, etc.. help pls

  • @SlayerGod999 Well, definitely, AND sadly, they want someone who is either Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. OR, someone who looks Korean and the other followings. Not to mention, they want someone who is idol-worthy, not afraid to show and must have thick skin in order to perform. Meaning, if you were told to sing in front of a full audience, you MUST do it without any second thoughts, AND you must do it perfectly. Basically, someone who can withstand pressure and with strong charisma.

  • @SlayerGod999 ALSO, if you had talent AND looks, it doesn't mean you'll actually get in, although the chances are lightly higher and are taken in considerations by the judges. So don't get too confident and cocky, Entertainment companies dislikes cocky people, and they usually are the first to cross off the list.

  • @SlayerGod999 they dont rlly care but u have to b 18 or older cause u have to fly to seoul and b a trainee tht takes more than1 year

  • @kawaiipanda2246 can you choose to be an icon

  • i wish i was Oriental..

  • is SM more interested in dancing or singing??

    cause i can't sing lol

  • @pinkmercy123456789 most likely singing, but if you dance, you could probably still join a group and they would teach you to sing but u just might have less lines but you could end up being the main dancer of the group

  • if they only want japanese, chinese and koreans they should say that on the poster and commercial things....instead of ppl embarrassing them self thats non asian

  • @xYONGxYONGx but tats 2 racist

  • @funkytownful well its better than ruining ppls dreams...

  • @xYONGxYONGx but a company needs an image 2

  • @funkytownful mmmmm

  • who is the girl at 0:20??? the one who touched her chin. I think shes an actress from Millionaire's first love and Hello Schoolgirl. Did she audition for SM entertainment and thats how she became an actress?

  • You're right :)) her name is Lee Yeon hee

and yes she did an audition for SM too.. but first she was going to be a member of SNSD but I dont know how.. SM made her became an actress finally.

  • @Pang1116, oh really? i think she's a really good actress, really pretty too. i think shes better off as an actress though cuz she's more quiet and sweet-looking

  • @Pang1116 Lee Yeon Hee personally decided that she wanted to concentrate on an acting career more than she wanted to pursue singing.

  • is iit really possibel to audition more than one person!?

  • the first group was acapella amazing!

  • what dance and song is that 2:12

  • These ppl are muy brave.

  • could non koreans or japanese or chinese audition and if they were good they could actually join the company i'm very curious (im viet)

  • @angelfrheaven yea,anyone could go,thats y its called global.(im viet to)

  • @ lilangel31525 lmao wow your comment just made me feel hecka slow in a funny way lol but for them to actually let you join dont you have to be fluent in korean

  • LOL well how do u explain hankyung oppa joining super junior? ;D

  • @ lilangel31525 lol yeh but idk cuz i think it would be super miracle if i could actually audition n they will let me join sm but only probablem is i cant speak korean i mean i can always learn but still

  • LOL yea,i want that miracle to happen to xD

  • @ LilAngel31525

im dnt want to be cocky or anything i but have faith in my skills but there is just that one obstacle i really do like k-pop

  • i dont understand if people (I2iku) have nothing good to say why bother saying it and why bother thumbing down my compliment to ppl, keep your nastiness to yourself thank you very much

  • the guy at 1:45 was really gooddd lol

  • no he wasn't....

  • they're only scouting for Koreans. =.=

  • no they're not...=.= there are lots of peeps in SM that are not korean. The best example would be Amber from f(x) she's chinese and she got in sm through one of the auditions in the U.S. although, it IS recommended that you know Korean since you are going to be working there...

  • If not Koreans, Asians...and Amber isn't fluent in Korean, so explain that.

    You need:

    1. The looks

    2. The skin (no racist remark intended)

    3. and the talent (singing, dancing, etc)

  • Well, there was one foreigner that was in SM before.. I don't think she is of any asian decent at all. Her stage name was Kim Isak but her real name is Ida Dene Simmons. She was in a duo called Isak and Jiyeon under SM. She's now the host of one of Arirang's shows.

  • Comment removed

  • well ok you've got me there. But I'm pretty sure that SM doesn't confine themselves to auditioning just asians. Plus, i think that most foreigners audition more for shows like American Idol instead...

  • If they aren't secluded, or 'racist' (for lack of a better term), then why isn't there anyone of another ethnicity, more specifically; why isn't there anyone NON-asian, debuting, or making an appearance from their company?

  • Um, I don't think many foreigners or NON-asians know what SM ent is.....

  • then explain the white guy in the duo with the asian girl...

  • They can just be friends ya know. or are u asking y didn't THEY make it? well if thats the case then, they were pretty bad at the audition....she even forgot some lines and started laughing...

  • well, the foreigners shown here don't represent ALL of the foreigners or non asians as a whole, you know... >.>

  • though that's besides the point. and i'll be damned if I ever see a "non-asian" debut in Korea under SM...

  • dude, stfu, you're probably just tired of getting rejected every year...

  • @youmantubes

they really don't accept non asians. asian mixed, chinese, yes. but no caucasians or blacks have been accepted. it's just to prevent any racism-based conflict with fans.

  • @theMilkz are indians included in the asian group?

  • @poka1dot1cherries by 'asian' i meant 'oriental'. korean, chinese, japanese, thai, etc. whatever races you've seen so far in the company, then you know they accept. otherwise.. don't hope for too much.

  • @theMilkz ahh makes sense -nods-

  • @theMilkz Hey is it possible for me?i'm currently 12 XD n still training and makin myself prettier.i wanna try out auditionin in a few yrs time XD i'm asian from Singapore. And u know..ppl livin there can be tanned due to NO winter n i'm tanned!OMG!but not rly dark.so is it possible for me,an asian but TANNED to join?

  • @littlemisswai what you need to ask yourself 1st is if you can even afford to attend the casting calls for auditioning. their base is in seoul, but it would be better if you got yourself signed under a training agent beforehand. no one can train themselves. SG has a few music agents, msia has HALO company. you need your parents to fully support you as well, esp with money.

  • @theMilkz Oh,well i'm gonna start a singing class nxt yr after i graduate from my primary school(we called dat for SG ppl) but i dunno how to find a singin class,so basically, there's music agents..do u have any idea who's the few music agents in SG? n btw,plz ans my question bout me bein tanned!XD lol,n wat's the estimate amount of mny needed?

  • @littlemisswai i'm not familiar with music agents in singapore, sorry. snsd yuri is slightly tanned, but she's pretty much the only exception i've noticed so far. my cousins(trainees) mentioned they saw a few girls get rejected the moment they walked into the same SM audition(not publicized, conducted every 3-4 months) because of their looks. so you have to try your luck. but you really need an agent first as your temporary manager. not sure about the expenses, not familiar with exchange rates.

  • @theMilkz - Huh ? They dont accept NON-ASIANS ?

and they donT also accept BLACKS? -_-

  • @jesanm it's a korean music company. and SM has no plans to branch into the international market yet, so don't expect them to debut any black r&b group any time soon.

  • @theMilkz They say on their website that they "are planning to make international entertainers for the future." So it's on their agenda, apparently.

  • @realtimeturbo my trainee cousin says there are no non-asian trainees at the training HQ. as for their agenda, he still says it's just to keep hopes up and PR purposes.

  • @jesanm I know this is a semi-serious comment, but it made me laugh a bit (i'm black) Ne. Black is NON-ASIAN.

  • @theMilkz, Actually there have been, just not as main people but back up people and trainers ect. in reference to non Asian folk.

  • @SeizeTheMoment1000 my cousin is a trainee. they don't hold auditions for backup dancers or trainers. trainers are hired separately and have their own reputation already.

  • @theMilkz , Hmm... I said what I said because an aquaintance's bestfriend is a trainee as well and said that non asian foreigners are not being hired as main people, but as backup dancers and trainers(something about preserving the countries image/heritage), however that was just from one source. I assumed that they knew what they were talking about because their friend is in the business. Then again it could be that they hire foreigners separately or something.

  • @KenshinSensei Thatss a Liee! - - No Offense....

  • @sodafeen have u tried audtioning? if not, then you can't rly prove me wrong...

  • @KenshinSensei and the ones that do councidently dont have talent lol

  • @KenshinSensei not everyone I'm a foreigner and a non asian and I know about SM,JYP;YG,CUBE and other entertainments as well as singers, droups ^^

  • @XoXoMalenaaXoXo um i didn't say that EVERY foreigner doesn't know what SM ent is. I said that NOT MANY foreigners know

  • @KenshinSensei haha .. im completely non asian and i live in canada.. and i know and listen to sm entertainment (: but maybe im just different?

  • @KenshinSensei Hey !, i know ´bout sm ¬¬ , and im chilean xD

  • @emeler52 uh...I didn't say that ALL FOREIGNERS didn't know about sm, I said MOST. there's a difference >.>

  • @KenshinSensei hahaha , it was just a comment xD, dont take it to deep ^^

  • @emeler52 oh!! heh..sry if I sounded a little mean. xD I didn't mean to. lolz. :D

  • @KenshinSensei im SOUTH asian. does that count?

  • @randomnessgurl46 it does. ^^

  • @KenshinSensei kk cauz my friend told me that u have to have a light skin tone.

  • @KenshinSensei That's a joke right? K-Pop is an international phenomenon. That means NON-Asians too.

  • @realtimeturbo i know that it IS an international phenomenon. Even though there are millions or billions of foreigners who do listen to kpop, THERE'S STILL A LOT OF OTHER FOREIGNERS WHO DON'T LISTEN TO KPOP OR ASIAN MUSIC AT ALL.

  • DId the four girls who dance made the audition?

  • the white guy and that asian girl doing the duet. sucked the most

  • Did the four girls who dance pass the audition?

  • too bad they dont do this anymore not that i know of...they shouldve came to hawaii...

  • SM is idol company

If you are gd at singing but don't have looks, you'd better search other company

  • It's a shame they more or less ONLY want Asians...but I understand, it is an Asian label.

But SME have like a lot of fans who aren't Asian ¬¬

if they ever had a global audition in the UK I'm going to look hah

  • SME's motto is "Stars of Asia are the next Global stars." Do you get it now why they only accept Asians?

  • Well, i understand what you're saying. It makes a lot of sense. But the only thing is, with that attitude, Asian stars can never be the next global stars. That's the problem. To be a global star, you have to get closer to other races, especially the Black and White professionals in the industry. Being close-minded will not produce any real global stars.

  • Asian stars are not close-minded, neither are Asian entertainment companies. The more they want to bring their stars out there, the more they want to use only THEIR people. They would definitely like to communicate with outsiders, but again, Asians are Asians, lol, they can't use others.

  • That's fine. But I'm just stating the facts: with that attitude they will get nowhere fast. Other people are not "outsiders", that is an exclusivist and bad attitude. Which will lead to little success.

  • is age an important factor? 'coz i don't see anyone got casted in if they are over 20 or 23 =.=

  • yeah they expect younger singers/dancers

but park bom was accepted at an older age

probably because she's soo good at singing.

  • They don't want us Black or White people in their companies but when they debut Korean aritsts in the USA or elsewhere, they expect our support.

  • i think it's because the US is a diverse country..

and you dont see alot of blacks and whites in Korea.

  • Yes, that's fine. But isn't it stupid for Koreans to expect us to support their artists when they debut in the US? If Koreans don't want Black/White people in their entertainment industry, then why do they expect us to want them? LOL

  • once again, the US is a diverse country..

there arent only whites and blacks in the US.

that's why they say there may be more

immigrants than whites in the US.

  • What does that have to do with Korea? And their attitude of imitating US music but not accepting the people who made that music?

  • @sparklingemeralds I agree =) I'm a big fan of many korean artists, but sparklingemeralds hit it on the nail.

  • I think you are getting it wrong. It's not like Korean companies don't like blacks or whites, it's because what they want to do is promote Asian-pop, so of course, the performers have to be Asian. Asia is not like all the other places in the world, it's not as diverse, since Asia has been isolated for the longest time.

  • thank you.

  • Its not being close minded, they want people to represent our pride as Asians. U.S. is an integrated country; Asian countries have gone way back in history. I don't see many Asian people have it big time in the U.S. And if you watched enough korean shows, you would see many foreigners on tv shows who like countries like korea and companies work with americans in music and uh, there are so many american artists who are already so popular in asia and american artists make so much more $.

  • and by the way, only a handful, less than my ten fingers, korean singers have actually debuted in the U.S. and tose debuts were only notcied by those who like the artists before/ any other people who actually pays attention to talent...We don't get any light here, and all i hear is gibberish racist shit here whenever i go out with my friends, and you think we're being baised and close minded, we americans are so full of it sometimes... (I'm asian american by the way)

  • Hey, I'm not an American, so don't throw me on the bandwagon. Not all Black and White people were born in the US. If you say you face a lot of racism when you go out, I can believe that and I am sorry about it, but people just don't show that much respect
