  • Probably the first modern day player to play against forwards who couldn't skate backwards. That's what made Orr so great. Back then the players didn't work out or train like they do today. In fact they used to play to get in shape at the start of the season.

  • @wovokanarchy They didnt get millions to play

  • Orr's best goal is actually one vs. the Atlanta Flames.

  • wow, something actually insightful and interesting from Don Cherry. I can't believe it.

  • boner

  • My dad always kept telling me about Bobby Orr as a kid. Even in Montreal, where we live, Bobby Orr was worshiped, despite all the hatred towards his team. Thanks to the Youtube magic, I get to see why nowadays. He was the greatest, simply put.

  • I don't like the goon style hockey that is played by the Bruins today...but I love the way Bobby Orr played. He is a true legend. I believe hockey should be played with respect! every player should respect one another and there opponents and I think it would make for better hockey.

  • What can you say ? The most talented athlete ever.Michael Jordan,Babe Ruth,Pele...ORR.. was in that pyramid of greatness.

  • orr rules.

  • What a good goal that Bobby Orr made. Thanks for posting this Bobby I wish you did not have a bad knee. Bobby you should have played more seasons in the NHL.

  • Bobby Just made a mockery of everyone trying to stop him there.

  • How much would he earn each year theses days ?????

  • @A1B1C198 aha u and killjoy are fucking ridin the shit out of orrs dick so shut the fuck up america is a fucking awful country to live in u have a nigger as ur president and ur economy is shit so suck my dixk have fun paying for ur healrth care I love orr he's amazing anyone in the nhl is amazing so someone who scores over 2000 points a fuckin legand so shut the fuck up u dumbasses hiw old are u even?

  • @gakman41,

Shhhhhhhhhh off to bed with you now

  • LMFAO to watch Orr rag the puck at the beginning of this clip.

To me Orr was such a smooth skater he never looked like he was trying hard.

But I can't count the number of times I saw him make defenders look like they belong back in Junior B.

  • BOYCOTT MOORES - DONT SUPPORT A RACIST

  • Both teams gave a standing ovation... OMG

  • "First time in the the history where both sides applauded" oh my gosh...

  • First time in the history of hockey eh Don. Maybe the NHL.

  • @lightningsmokerXx I believe that was what he was trying to say, in his own words. Having watched Don Cherry, all these decades, that is what I believe he meant. Who is to say when it first happened? Could have happened one hundred years ago, on a pond somewhere in Canada.

  • What separates Bobby Orr from other greats -- aside from his speed, grace, class and sportsmanship? Humility! When he scored a goal it was for the entire team; whereas with certain legendary players it seemed to pacify their egos.

Also, Bobby Orr was never attention hound. Overexposure of some legendary players -- well, after a while we got sick of hearing about them and looking at them and flipped the channel.

  • Great Video~ Hey guys,HAVE A LOOK on my awesome Bobby Orr 1973-1974 vintage jersey. youtube.com/watch?v=8fT_02IPoWg

  • Did cherry coach the b's to a cup?

  • @3pppz He didn't, montreal beat boston twice in both final's they got to in 77 and 78.

  • @Oddwuaya Oh... thx... did not know

  • Don Cherry, fluffing his own feathers since 1975.

  • Gretzky was a pussy. Orr was a mans man and could actually hit/take a hit and fight. what a badass. Best player ever

  • Further to my previous post, Gary Smith is in goal for the Seals. Smith’s last season with them was 1970-71....4 years before Cherry coached the Bruins. Yet he makes it sound as if he was behind the bench for that. Think Cherry was around for Orr’s entire career? Think again.

    Orr pre-Cherry. (8 seasons, 1966-1974).

Calder Trophy, 7 Norris Trophies, 3 Harts, 2 Stanley Cups, 2 Conn Smythes, 1 Art Ross.

    Orr with Cherry. (1 season + 10 games, 1974-75)

    1 Art Ross, 1 Norris.

  • Only problem, Don. John McKenzie #19 is on the ice. And you weren’t coaching the Bruins yet.

  • All I've seen from these few videos is that Bobby was head and shoulders above of the players of his time. The defense he played against looked so sloppy, it was like peewee hockey with him just skating around pylons. These guys didn't skate they just flopped around on the ice waving their sticks at him as he skated by. Bunch of damn pylons combined with the goalies of those days having not even half the padding as today's goalies.

  • @heretik21 Yes, goalies of today have so much extra protection..look at their helmets, its like a tank with shields and anti puck missles and GPS..etc.. that's why they are more 'braver'. No body wanted to get in Orr's way nor can they catch him. Scare of him!

  • haha i read this in his book :P

  • It's hard for the human mind to grasp how good Bobby Orr was. Larry Robinson had the highest career PLUS/MINUS in NHL history. It makes some sense because the high-scoring Habs of that era also had puck-stopper extraordinaire Ken Dryden in the net. Orr was the 2nd highest career PLUS/MINUS, then Ray Borque and then Gretzky. The highest single season PLUS/MINUS is Orr. My favorite youtube video of all time is Bobby Orr Highlights-5:53

  • Don Cherry is the same guy who said Doug Gilmour was a better player than Mario Lemieux.

  • @MrLCLM Hahaha no he didn't. He was just saying how Doug deserved the MVP in 1993. Although, that is almost as crazy as saying Dougie is better than Lemieux.

  • @StumpyClark3217 In both "Rock Em Sock Em 5" and on Coach's Corner in the 93 playoffs, Cherry said Gilmour was "the greatest hockey player in the world today." That was during a year when Mario Lemieux scored 69 goals and 91 assists in 60 games. Don't mean to take away from Gilmour's season, simply because I know how his play almost single-handedly carried the Maple Leafs to the Campbell finals. But he was not a better player than Lemieux.

  • @MrLCLM You are right. I forgot about that. It was Rock Em Sock Em 5 too, I have that at home on VHS. Yeah it was "Dougie Gilmour, the greatest hockey player in the world today. Kingston, Ontario" or something

  • @StumpyClark3217 And no, I don't think Doug Gilmour is better than Mario Lemieux, who came back from cancer in '93 and won the scoring title.

  • Talk about amazing. Now dont anyone piss me off.

  • Anybody notice that Oshawa Generals Eric Lindros/Bobby Orr picture behind grapes?

  • If you want to watch a funny funny video about Bobby Orr then check out his Bruins jersey retirement ceremony on here....classic video Bobby had his number retired in Boston when he was still playing with Chicago.

  • holy crap.

  • WOW holy crappp that's crazy

  • We don't see plays like this nowadays.

  • @Lightingbolt008

Huh? this is a great goal but there have been lots of goals scored just like this nowadays.

  • @ACanuckGuy Well, now you know where they learned it from ;))

  • @ACanuckGuy please, do show them

  • @ACanuckGuy really? if it is then they saw this clip and is fan of great Bobby Orr.

  • Cool

  • :D (y)

  • Go Bobby, go Bobby, Score, Score, Score, if anyone can do it, its #4, thats Bobby Orr! thats awesome obviously its Orr is better than Grets tons and tons of respect for Orr. Go Bobby, go Bobby, Score, Score, Score, if anyone can do it, its #4, thats Bobby Orr!

  • @METALLICAhead18 WHO'S NUMBER 4!?!?! BOBBY ORR, SAY NO MORE!

  • between gretzky and orr i couldnt choose cause gretzky had scoring and assist titles and orr was the first defence to score and even get the most goals in a season so ill just say that orr is better

  • points dont make player, gretzky just wait back of the net to pass to a player, orr controlled the game. Orr = hockey

  • @greyfields u kno nothing about hockey

  • @greyfields YESSSS..well said, points don't make hockey..the overall everything about a player does. And Bobby Orr has it ALL!!! He's great and humble too. Gotta love him.

  • @momtotwins07 your right about Orr, but come on you cant say that about Gretzky you know damn well you would love it if he was on your team

  • @momtotwins07 naaaa gretzky is better

  • @momtotwins07 gretzky is also the gretest player in nhl history and holds the most records

  • @Slipknot5301 Its you again? Fucking Ranger bandwagon fans I guess. Gretzky was the most protected shit ever. He may of been great, but he certainly was no Bobby Orr.

  • @IslandersFan25 he was protected cuz he was the best player ever dumbass

  • @Slipknot5301 Thats not the real reason why he was protected...just read your comment over, if you can't find something that looks funny, you're officially 12 years old.

How would anyone know he was the best player ever when he started playing? He was protected because he had talent but no size and strength. Gretzky may have been great and a smart hockey player but I think he shouldn't be #1, BUT DEFF. in the top 10 ever, obv.

  • @Slipknot5301 Bobby Orr changed the game of hockey, he is probably the best player ever, and he only played for 10 years...

  • @Slipknot5301 Most records because he played for a long time and was a forward, they are suppose to score you know.

  • @momtotwins07 who cares if he was a pussy the FACT and it is a FACT that he is the best EVER

  • @YouJussGotCurbed best ever offensive player, true. A complete hockey player has to be able to contribute to the physical aspect of the game.

  • @YouJussGotCurbed I'd take orr before gretzky.

  • @YouJussGotCurbed You mean Gretzky is a pussy right? We are talking about the greatest All Round Player...and that was Orr. He was a defenseman and won the scoring title twice. Scoring lots is what a forward is SUPPOSE to do.

  • @momtotwins07 Exactly. Its like you touch him and you get a penalty. He is just like cindy crysby besides the fact that he was better. Crosby is Buttman's poster boy for the NHL and he makes sure that who ever lays their hands on crosby gets a penalty. Buttman wanted the penguins to win so bad he allowed Malkin to play during that game 7 when he was supposed to be suspended.

  • @momtotwins07 then hed be called the great one wouldnt he?

  • @gakman41,

"The great one" was a moniker given by Gretzky's own handlers. Gretzky was an overhyped, two bit pussy.

  • @momtotwins07 this comment just means u aint know nothn about hockey boy...

  • Orr's career plus-minus per game was the highest in the history of the sport. Many people know this but they don't fully grasp how dominant he actually was. The number two all time career plus-minus per game was more than 50% lower than Orr's rate. Gretzky's rate was about one third that of Orr's.

  • @TomBoston191 Although I agree with you that Orr was probably the best player of all time because of how good all-around he was, Wayne was ridiculously dominant too. People discount 99's achievements because they say he played on a strong team, in a high scoring period, but, he still scored 1000 more points than anyone else including Mark Messier (number 2 all time) who played on the same team and played 400 or so more games.

  • @StumpyClark3217 Well, true but Gretzky is a forward, they are suppose to score.. Orr is a defeneman and he won the scoring title! Unheard of! Orr is fast enough to score and fast enough to get back to defend. That's the amazing thing.

  • @StumpyClark3217

Orr is the supreme master of ALL aspects of the game. Gretzky was a selfish ONE DIMENSIONAL goal scorer. A "floater". He would hang out at the blue line and wait for a pass while others did the grunt work. An over hyped baby, hiding behind overprotective refs when things got rough. You'd spend 5 in the box just for brushing by Gretzky. The league did everything but suck his dick

Don't even mention these two players in the same breath again moron.

  • @killjoy1001001 .."Orr is the supreme master of hockey. Gretzky was a selfish 1 DIMENSIONAL goal scorer. A "floater". He would hang out at the blue line waiting for a pass while others did the grunt work. An over hyped baby, hiding behind overprotective refs when things got rough"

Yes. Take it from a guy who's followed the NHL for 50 yrs. I've seen the great players. In my opinion, nobody ..Nobody .. comes close to Bobby.

The Gretzky worshipers know jack shit about hockey. Makes me laugh

  • @gangster3591,

Absolutely, Orr is King. There's not even a close second.

  • @TomBoston191

Yeeh! Gretzky was great but I don't think he ever broke the +100 mark on a season for plus/minus. Seeing as he had 200 point seasons, thats kinda rough.

  • @TheSlugOfLove ...don't forget Bobby Orr the GREAT was a defenseman and he won the scoring title twice!

  • @Cessnagirl1 Yup and he was the first defencemen ever to win the scoring title.

  • @TomBoston191

And he was that dominant despite the fact that he was injured almost his entire career.

  • That was soo true, with everything else that man could do. He could kill a minute or more of a penalty all by himself. He is the greatest no doubt. What if his knees held up for 15 or 20 years? What kind of records would we be talking about? The greatest EVER! I always wondered why nobody picked up Don Cherry after the Rockies let him go?

  • Heres a rhyme we use to say back in the 70's, "Go Bobby, go Bobby, Score, Score, Score, if anyone can do it, its #4, thats Bobby Orr!". Good times, Good times.

  • ORR WAS THE BEST , PLAYERS OF THE 70s and early 80s were the toughest!!!

  • Not only was Gretzky behind Orr,but also Gordie Howe.

  • and orr was on defense!!! what if he was a foward?? 50 goals a year easy!!

  • gretzky is a pussy.

orr is the real deal and way better than protected pussy gretzky.

  • i watch videos and clips of people talking about gretzky, and he didnt have the heart that orr did.

  • kaye0833, not only that, but there has NEVER been a player even close to Bobby's talents......Gretzky included.....I'd love to see a 21 year old Bobby Orr in today's NHL.....500 points per season??

  • Nothing Better than highlighting one Robert Gordon Orr, than the GREATEST Coach in Boston Bruin History, Don Cherry. Nice move Sinden to fire him. How did Fred Creighton work out for ya??

  • Ovy's got nothin on that shit..

  • actually he does

    theyre both great

  • Bobby is the best NHL player EVER!!! Some people might say Wayne Gretzky is but their wrong. BOBBY ORR IS AWESOME!!!!!

  • Pretty clearly, "opened and closed the door for him" was an attempt at self-deprecating humor. He probably wanted to say, "I coached Bobby Orr, which means, I carried his jockstrap to the game and he did the rest," but he tried to say something a little more family-friendly for tv.

  • lol...not even maybe. What he is saying..is..who was he to think he would be able to teach Orr something..instead, Grapes just stood there and opened the door and ushered Orr on and off the ice.

  • no dummy.

  • Great save one on one by Gary "Suitcase" Smith. Where was the defense to clean up the rebound and take the man???

  • I think it's kinda hard to get a rebound that's in the air unless you're Bobby Orr

  • I'm kidding of course. I'm good friends with Suitcase who confirms Bobby Orr was/is a GREAT guy and the BEST EVER!!

  • He was an unstoppable force, I just love watching Orr skate circles around everyone then make a great pass or shot that ends up in a goal or assist

  • why do people always go on these big epic searches for the best?? the greatest? come on now. Can't we all be happy we have so many to choose from? i mean if there is a debate among people, through Howe, Orr, Gretzky, Mario - isn't that a great thing? and not something to fight over?.. i think i'm right.

  • Stop bashing Cherry. You dicks never had a chance to coach Orr. Cherry did and you probably never did unless you happen to be either Harry Sinden, Tom Johnson, Bep Guidolin or Don Cherry himself. These were coaches Orr had with the Bruins.

  • That was an incredible goal.

  • he is the hockey player of all time no doubt , fuck sidney crosby and gretsky the two faggots of hockey

  • bobby orr is a fukin boss. but don cherry is such a tool

  • What did he say at around 00:10 and 00:12 when he said "It was scored in ____, of all places ______" What's the blank? Oakland???

  • Against the California Golden Seals..brutal uniforms..and skates..lol. Yes He said "Oakland".

  • "it was scored in oakland of all place _open_

shane, he said oakland and open

  • Now this is the greatest goal Bobby Orr ever scored (next to that one that HNIC shows, where he was sliding with his back to the net and shoots and scores). The 1970 OT goal had that famous picture, but that goal was run of the mill, otherwise. This goal totally rocks and Bobby Orr is the greatest player in NHL history, PERIOD!

  • he didnt score he passed the puck to a player who got the goal, when orr was sliding.

  • EXCELLENT!!!

  • Orrfan13,I`m going crazy trying find that too!

  • does anyone know where you can see the ENTIRE penalty kill from start to finish (all 1 min and 30 secs)?????? I would love to get to see the whole thing

  • If you find this one..or the one against the Penguins..PPPllleeeeaaaasssseee let me know. I'd love to see it..especially picking up the glove. In this months SI is the story of that pk..what a chuckle, especially the part about the Seals all cheering..lol.

  • Don Cherry (who was and still is great) said about this goal that nobody knows about. He's wrong. I saw this game and this goal on TV. So I know about it, I saw it "live" on TV.

  • i want to know who is reputed as the best player for all history of canada by most canadians?

  • Probably Gretzky. I think the guys that know say Orr. A lot of people would say Mario Lemieux too - I think he actually had a higher average points per game than Gretzky before his off and on comeback years and he was a better checker. Orr had his knees and Mario got cancer, they both had much shorter careers.

That's leaving out goalies though. I think Terry Sawchuk rates with them too.

  • I would say Orr is the greatest.

  • I would say certainly the most dominant player ever.

  • are you serious ok so orr was a d-fencemen which means less goals. and gretzky was forward and scored how many more goals then bobby NOT MUCH! And lemuex i mean give me a break bobby is way better then lemuex did you watch this video or did you just come down here to insault bruin and orr fans so take your insaulting comments and GL! Ps: GL means GET LOST

  • theres no way you can know who the best not same time equippement and talent the playeur today are have more talent then back there i mean put exemple mike green in those time he would become a legend these no way it can be compared

  • I don't think so, dude! Bobby Orr, as well as Park, Potvin, Robinson, Harvey and all those other great D-Men (from back in the day) had to do so much more than Green does. With guys like Williams/Schultz/Sanderson/Gillies running around, ready to take your head off, Green would be running for the hills, most likely.

  • completely different game, different rules. Please don't waste bandwith with comments like that.

  • of course you can compare them. not on the points but damn did you see orr skate? thats mr hockey

  • It's Orr. You have to be old enough to have seen both play. No doubt it is Orr. Gretzky was tremendous but Orr could take control of a game with his team short a player as easily as if the teams were even. He did all this in spite of 7 serious knee surgeries. If you say Gretzky then you were born after 1970.

  • your stupid cuz ive seen boby orr play and its true he was able to take control of a game alone but with the talent from this time and right now sorry no way you can know im a huge hockey fan and i must say that looking at mike green from caps remind me a little of bob

  • Who in the hell is Mike Green?? Anyone with the audacity to compare him with Orr..oh wow..you can't be even a little serious..next thing you'll want to tell us is that Orr wasn't even the best #4 in the league..oopps, in another post you ranked Orr behind Beliveau..good grief, please learn the game!!

  • Dawn2626: Who the hell is Mike Green? You want to compare some nobody to the greatest hockey player to ever step on the ice? You have got to be kidding!! Bobby Orr was a masterpiece. He played games with injuries that Mike what's his face would stay out for weeks or months.

Orr was, is and shall always be.... THE BEST!!!

  • Comment removed

  • canadian fans by what was orr better than other player? i wanna know. i'm from russia.

  • I dont understand your question.

But people debate who was the best Greztky or Orr.

  • where do i start...i mean the guy was heads and shoulders above anyone else on the ice. he was a defenseman that could get up the ice faster than anyone else and score...or beat u back to save the puck with his face. fight, hit, put up stats..he was the real deal...he finished one year with a +124. to put that into perspective...of the 207 goals scored on the team that year...he was on the ice for only 15...unheard of.

  • youve got your math all wrong, bobby couldve been on the ice for all 207, goals against bring your +/- down, and consider the teams power play goals, which dont count toward it, all you know is he had a very good +/-.

  • i read it on a site, im not completely sure of how credible it was ; but i was blown away when i read it.

  • well, its like this: being +124 means that he was on the ice for 124 more goals scored for than against AT EVEN STRENGTH. Guys dont have a +124 in thier entire career.

But more inportantly, watch the videos. Bis stats are impressive, they have never been equaled by a defenceman ( Paul Coffee was close). But with Orr, you have to see him. He was a man playing with boys. He dominated, not only in stats - like Gretzky - but on the ice too. You couldnt catch him.

  • O i know man....ORR is my fav. player ever, Ive never seen him play live, cause i wasnt born...but he is just incerdible. I live in Oshawa (where he played Jrs) so that makes it a bit better

  • A team of 5 Bobby Orrs would beat a team of 5 Gretzkys or a team of 5 of Anyone Elses. No player of any professional team sport ever CONTROLLED games like Orr did. No other professional team athlete made fools of the opposition to the point where crowds could be heard audibly laughing, both at Boston Garden and on the road. You know you're watching greatness when you're watching something you've never seen before or since. That would be Bobby Orr. END OF STORY.

  • I couldn't agree with you more!! 5 Orrs would beat 5 Gretzkys. There is no question in my mind about it. Gretzky could score and pass incredibly; however, so could Orr. The difference is: Orr could also check, stickhandle like no one else, fight, play incredible defense and skate like the wind. He was the complete hockey player That's where he leaves Gretzky in the dust. Even the greatest Gretzky fans have to admit that Orr could do more. Its a fact. Orr was faster and tougher than Gretzky.

  • I think Gretzky dominated the game in the same way Orr did. For about ten years Gretzky was winning league scoring titles by 50 to 70 points. I don't care how offensive the league was that is complete domination. Orr was a better defensively and could fight (I don't take marks off of Gretzky for not being a good scrapper...not important) but I would have to give the edge offensively to Gretzky in their primes. Overall though at their peaks I think Orr was slightly better.

  • bravo u pretty much nailed it. end of discussion.

  • Ask Gordie Howe, ask Montreal Gazette HOF NHL columnist Red Fisher, and then ask HOFer Milt Schmidt. Between those three guys, they've witnessed NHL hockey from the 1920's to the present, and ALL three of them say Bobby Orr is the best player they ever saw. Compared to them, what exactly the hell do YOU know that they don't? I'll take their word for it, thanks. END OF STORY.

  • Guy Lafleur played against Orr and Gretzky at their best and he says Orr is the greatest.

  • a3her: youre forgetting that Orr's era was more defensive. Of course there were more goals allowed by Smythe Teams. Simply put, there was enormous amount of offences in that division. But you have to remember that the Oilers destroyed (more often that not) non-Smythe teams the same way they did to teams in their own division. 11-3 over the Caps, 7-4 over the Caps in 83-84 are just two instances where the Oil dominated. It wasn't just Gretzky. It was the whole team that was great.

  • My point exactly..Orr's points were harder to earn..even during the expansion era there was major defense in the top 2/3 of the teams averaging in the 200 goals against region..even the best teams (defense)in the gogo 80's wild wild west averaged in the 300 range..wow!! Come on even Fuhr (in 83-84) got 14 points in 45 games..that works out to 25 pts in an 80 game season for a goalie!!!!!

Orr and Lemieux wish they played at this time..in this division.

  • a3her: typo there, I meant the Caps had 3 future HOF's on the blue line (Murphy, Langway and Stevens). There simply was no team in the 80's like the 74-75 Capitals. Other teams of the 70's, mainly the Seals and Scouts didn't a whole lot better than the Caps. The Caps gave up 446 goals in a defensive era. Can you imagine how many they would have surrendered in the offensive 80's? Probably more than 550 or even 600. Gretzky simply did not face the anemic 70's competition. Go back and look.

  • Ok OCT..you bring the Caps and high scoring. In 85-86 Waynes wild wild west allowed 346 goals per team...wow. Orr in 74-75 faced 288 per team (only year Orr played against Seals in division, they had gaa of 316) Washington was awful but in the same div was Montreal and L.A who averaged 205 each that evens it up. In 72 he faced 237 per team in his division. Gretzkys era averaged 30 goals higher than the worst team (Seals) Orr faced. Orr and Lemeiux wish they played in Gretzkys gogo wild wild west

  • a3her: the Oilers still, I repeat still pulverized the good teams more often than not. Go look at 83-84, 11-3 over the Capitals (yeah arguably the best defensive team of the 80's with 34 future hall of famers like Langway, Murphy and Stevens. Beat them later in the season 7-4 in Landover, MD. It doesn't change a thing whether the Oilers were in the offensive talent rich Smythe. Not at all. But can you imagine how bad the Kings really could have been had they been a true expansion team?

  • a3her: one last thing. I think it was in 1997-98 when the hockey news had their giant voting thing saying who was the best player of all time. Gretzky won over Orr, but not by much. This is probably because Gretzky owns most of the records, while Orr doesn't. To make a case out of records is completely false. Who cares if Gretzky has the most records. Doesnt make him the best ever. Watch Orr and Gretzky's very best goals. Theres no comparision. Orr was the best (and always will be).

  • a3her: another thing you (maybe) fail to realize is this. Gretzky's years with the Oilers saw no expansion (if you exclude his NHL rookie year of 79-80). I meant right when Gretzky was shining (1981 thru 1988), there was no expansion whatsoever. The bad teams of the mid 80's were much better than the bad teams of the early to mid 70's. Im not trying to say Orr was better than Gretzky. Orr was better, no doubt. But Gretzky's numbers could have been a lot higher had he faced a team like 74-75 caps

  • Interesting comments Oilers dude. Now, go and check your facts..Gretzky played against the worst defensive teams and the highest goals allowed division in the history of the nhl..go look. Orr and Mario wish..oh how they wished..they could have played against the brutal defense and goal tending of the wild wild west in the go go 80's..I sat in the LA Forum and watched dozens of games..and watched hundreds of others on ktla..worst defense ever..ever..go look, then come back and make another post

  • a3her: for much of Orr's career there was expansion. Not to take anything away from Orr at all, thats to miss the point. The point is Orr probably wouldn't have had 46 goals in 74-75, yeah like 7 or 8 of them against the worst team of all time (74-75 Capitals with 67 losses). Probably wouldn't have had 139 points in 70-71 playing a lot of games against two other horrible teams like the Sabres and Canucks. Its totally hypothetical but theres a good chance Orr's numbers would have been smaller.

  • Orr is the greatest player ever, and will always be! Best plus/minus- 124, best plus/minus over a career 597, he was ahead of his time, and Gretzky had teammattes to protect him over his career, where Orr faught for him self, unlike Gretzky who would cry.

  • The real stat..the one that wins games..the only stat that truly counts is this. While you are on the ice who scores and how much. While on the ice Gretzky has 3520 goals for 2285 against..a game average of .83 (1487 games). Orr has tgf of 1651 and tga of 781 for a 1.46 per game average (596 games, 66/67 n/a). Much of Gretzky's career he was a detriment to his team if there was no power play,Orr's numbers never came close to being inverted..Gretzky was horrid as a 2 way player for over 10 years

  • Don Cherry's mouth has never remained still for more than 5 seconds in his life. Including in his sleep.

  • lol

  • Bobby was killing a 2 man penalty, lost his glove at center ice, ragged the puck for 2 minuted ,retrieved his glove, came in on me ,i got a piece of it ,he had one eye on the clock as the penalties ran out ,he bunted the reboundover my shoulder from behind the net.i played with and against Gretzky,he was great ,but he was no Bobby Orr.Gary Suitcase Smith

  • Thanks. I never noticed that before. The Bruins are TWO men short and they still can't take the puck off of him. And then he scores a goal like that! Unbelievable! Bobby Orr: Without a doubt the greatest hockey player that's ever lived.

  • I'm not so sure about that. I mean I was debating this issue with some boob on another video and.... Wait... your that boob!

  • Maybe he's finally convince domer?

  • Does anybody remember/had Bobby Orr Rally ice skates??

I had mine..... and I was Bobby Orr!

  • Too bad it had to happen in Oakland where nobody cared.

  • Damn, I miss watching him play!!

  • Love it. More please!!
