Sunny32793 The Bichon breed originated in the Mediterranean ie Spain, Portugal etc..The Romans had them as well! The Bichon had success in France during the Renaissance under Francis I but its popularity skyrocketed in the court of Henry III . The breed also enjoyed considerable success in Spain as a favorite of the Infantas, and painters of the Spanish school often included them in their works. the famous artist, Francisco de Goya, included a Bichon in several of his works.:o)
When I keep her short I take her every 5 weeks. She has a beautiful coat and should be kept long but it is a job! keeping her long I take her every 3 weeks. Can never keep her long in the summer because of the pool! :-) This video shows her in long coat.
Yes they do. I notice you keep his ears short. Our groomer used to leave hers long until I told her I wanted them short and round. It is more like the show cuts because it makes their head more rounded. My breeder said I should keep her in full coat but it is a lot of work She does look beautiful long. Do you ever keep Wallace really long. At one time Chloe's fur was over 4 inches long! Had to brush her every day! :-)
Wallace's fur stays always medium length only because he has an appointment at our groomers every 6 weeks. He really does look alot different when he comes out of there. I call him a Foo Foo dog, lol. His fur is so soft.
Why did you import her from france? DId you want to breed or show her? She's a beautiful bichon, she just isn't in a typical bichon show cut or anything.
I got her from France because Bichons originated in France. Also, I wanted a good health guarantee. I keep her short in the summer and full coat in the winter. I fell in love with her when I went to see her. I just wanted a good Bichon.....never had intentions of showing her.
Your bichon is beautiful!! I watched your video. I clean the sleepers from Chloe's eyes every morning. SHe does not have a tear stain problem but you can buy the cleaning pads. They work good. Her beard stays relatively clean but if it gets discolored the groomer always gets it clean. I take her every 3 or 4 weeks! Good luck with your beautiful baby. I enjoyed her video!
i have a bichon as well. So what is the best bet for them not have the mouth and eye area brown??? her eyes cry a lot and washing them is a lot of work for me..........
Thanks! She eats dry dog food (holistic blue) and sometimes a little people food! If she gets into something her mouth area can get a little discolored but it always comes clean at the groomers. Nice to hear from another Bichon lover!
Word to the wise... if your Bichon comes home from the groomer looking like this, find a new groomer immediately!

How often do you get her groomed? Our's goes in every 6 weeks without fail. The groomer only lives a few doors down from us.

What a sweety. I noticed her face is still all white. What does she eat? My bichon has brown all around his mouth and eyes.
