  • Who has a tabs? :D

  • I own a crappy rogue fretless. Wanna trade?

  • ugly hand movement

  • i will never understand how anyone could possibly play a fretless bass.

  • @MrDipeDematteo There are position markers on the side of the fingerboard to make it easier to play.

  • @MrDipeDematteo You really don't know what you're missing. Adds a whole new dimesion to playing bass. But then if you don't play music that needs fretless it won't be for you.

  • @MrDipeDematteo easier than an upright

  • you are shite...

  • Lost of hate for this video but the hysteria lick is tough enough with frets... well done.

  • i prefer the sound of a fretted bass

  • Lolololol the beginning sounded like Hysteria. Was that Hysteria?!?! Lololol I think the first riff was Hysteria, omg Hysteria lol!

    Fuck...

  • lol , you play muse hysteria at the beginging

  • dude muse has nothing to do with fretless, so do slap, please!

  • @noatabriz I play a ton of songs on fretless whether they're originally played on a fretless or not because I like the sound better. There aren't songs specifically for fretless basses and specifically for fretted basses.

  • Not to criticize but probably not the best style to incorporate on a fretless instrument. Not enough feeling.

  • 0:04 - 0:11 is Hysteria :D

    Nice Bass ;D

  • @DeathBass96 Hell yea :D

  • do you play any musein this video?

  • Awesome music! Know any good songs on the Fretless bass?

  • what bass is this?

  • why dislike this guys? he admits that he messin on a fretless :)

  • Man I want a fretless sooooo bad :)

  • it's hysteria by muse?

  • i heard hysteria by muse. ima just saying xD

  • B.C.R???

  • you killed it man. not how a fretless is played at all, there was no soul there. don't take it personally, it's constructive criticism, you need to just slow down your playing and stop showing off technically and just think hard about the groove/feel to a song. that is after all what makes great bassists. theres no need to show off, just get into the feel. ok?

  • ur doin good, but it would help u to keep ur fingers from moving so far from the fretboard like sticking out from ur hand. go for it!

  • hai una mano sinistra di merda, e questo solo perche' non si vede la destra...

  • @frankbassfunk stavo per scrivere la stessa cosa in inglese, affinchè potesse capirlo...

  • Why the fuck does everyone learn hysteria? It's gets kinda old hearing it

  • you played hysteria wayyyyy too damn fast man

  • im hearing muse - hysteria at the very beginning

  • @cgrw1 really awfully played though...

  • this thing just looks fun to mess with..

  • the beginning sounded like hysteria ::P

  • @PeopleOfTomorrow im fairly sure it was XD

  • @PeopleOfTomorrow It is :3

  • Spiderfingers.

  • Ah i could never play a fretless. I don't nearly know the instrument well enough.

  • @martinescu91 There are small side dots on the neck.Just like on the side of your guitar.

  • it's always nice to have a fretless, but certainly that's not the eq for that bass, can't say if thi sis your fault or maybe the camera's capture mic.

  • Твои пальцы отскакивают от струн как сосиски!

  • fudge!!!! ur fingers are like spider legs!!! lmao hahah

  • nice lil hysteria run there in the begining ;D (second riff he plays)

  • lmao i play bass to....so i know u played hysteria...band sucks but....good bass intro lol

  • Its cool to just fuck around sometimes, aint it?

  • @martinescu91 a "Lined Fretless" has inlayed wood or other material where the fret would usually be. There's also "Unlined Fretless" basses that have a blank board on the front and which you guide by the top dot markers. They're harder to start on but some say better to learn on in the long run. Honestly, it's a matter of what suits you the player best - I own a custom lined fretless Spector but because of years of playing could likely play an unlined due to musle memory and the top dots.

  • You did all things that you couldn't do on a fretless bass

  • Comment removed

  • what kind of bass do you use?

  • Good playing Hysteria by Muse!

  • haha i like the muse's hysteria in the begining

  • Ужасная левая рука! Зачем так пальцы оттопыривать?! Смотреть невозможно

  • two things - first, it was good. but its lacking soul i think. i mean, it was played well and seemingly accurately, but i think you could put more energy and feeling into it. second - thank you for responding to the "bassists dont go crazy on stage anyways" comment. that was really ignorant of quade. and thats a beautiful bass by the way. and youre absolutely right about the different sound.

  • Sem sentido!

  • but, dude, sry I saw this vid is over 3 years old..you learnd, I saw other vids of you playing. anyone began..

  • why are you doin´ this moves with your fingers on your left hand?? it´s too much movement..and it looks sick^^..sorry but, this is the perfect moment to say: look at this guy! He thinks he is a good bassplayer cause he can play a fast line..but, dude, there are other things, which are more important than playing fast..having certrainity on the tone of the bass is the most important thing

  • can you specify the brand and model of this guitar, mate? i like it. want to buy it

  • wow.... you manage to fuck up even the simplest of songs like Hysteria? omg... put the bass down and sell it man, its not in you...

  • lol you just played a bunch of songs together really fast.

  • is that a kind of fretless Aria bass?

  • what bass is that? i like the fretboard color :P

  • @HOLYHECKITSPAUL

Just get a bass with a Maple Fretboard, which is a really bad fretless bass wood btw

  • Try to keep your fingers of you left (fretting hand)just sort of hovering over the strings instead of flailing around ...use less movement when fingering... go for economy not big finger movements...it will make your chops cleaner...

  • @trollgoal hahaha......fingering.....

  • @trollgoal buddy im sure he plays the way hes comfortable playing. Mind your own business...

  • you played hysteryia

  • What's with all the hatin' on this?

Cuz did some good licks. Needs work - but who doesn't?

  • sincerely......abd execution and you should to learn to push correctly your finger, study it's good advise for you

  • hysteria !

  • ahahaha........very funny........kill you

  • you fail....

  • no you just need 5 minutes to find your fingerings right

  • fretless looks too hard for me

  • usually they paint the frets so it isnt as hard

  • Well only the dots mostly...

  • sum i saw paint them on

  • Hysteria...

  • Comment removed

  • havent seen alot of maple fingerboards on fretless... looks nice.

  • you should look for a brazilian bass player called Claudio Bertrami,he plays a maple necked precision bass made by the own Leo Fender

  • It depends if the Frets are lined for you. If they're, its not much harder, you just have to pay attention where you put your finger...

  • what is this??)))

  • YES its way harder!!!!!!! but it gives a lot better tone Ohh and lollups in tags put Maple Frettless because this is a more rare fretless

  • maple fretless fretboards, that looks so good!

  • @eminem1022 hahaha lol

  • I like ur tone!

  • nice line

    that neck is radius zero?

  • a fretless has a completely different sound when played properly, i.e. not in this video. It's easier to carry around and to store, this one was cheaper than an upright would have been, you can get fretless acoustics and saying bassists don't go crazy on stage is like saying all guitarists and singers do go nuts...

  • @quade64 upright totally different for totally different style. i have a fretless precision, cudnt replace it with an upright.

  • They go crazy in rock/metal bands!

  • 3000 dollors vs 500 dollors XD

  • @quade64 a good upright will cost you much more than a good fretless and the sound is quite different (you might not hear it on the video though). FS is also easier to carry to rehearsals and to tour with. As for stage "crazyness" it entirely depends on the musician, regardless of the instrument.

  • @quade64 Well I doubt anyone would want to carry a instrument that size, and value. Fret less basses can be from from hand made(custom) - 300$ or 1000's, Cheapest upright I saw was 2,000..

  • @quade64 And also an upright bass is highly sensitive to temperature and humidity changes.Jaco played an upright in his youth, but due to the Florida humidity found it,one day, collapsed in the corner of his boyhhood room.

  • @quade64 Looking into playing a fretless e-bass, as well as already playing the fretted electric bass and upright bass.

    They are completely different animals.

  • @quade64 Bassists don't go crazy on stage? Flea? Cliff Burton? Steve Harris?

  • @quade64 dude are you dumb. theyre completely different instruments. have you ever seen flea? after seeing Flea (greatest bassist of all time) you cannot say that 'bassists dont go crazy on stage' because thats totally not true.

  • @quade64 An upright bass would never have the same amount of sustain as an electric bass would have. A fretless bass has a much more human like sound and better "mwah" tone.

  • @quade64 your a complete dumbass for that comment :L

  • @quade64 nikki sixx, johny christ, flea, fieldy...these are very entertaining bassists that go crazy onstage.....theres many more

  • @quade64 What bassists don't go crazy on stage? Flea? Steve Harris? Robert Trujillo?

  • @MetalElf oh my god. its a comment from 2 years ago. let it go!!!! i just like the tone and calmness of an upright better. i have a fretless bass. ive played uprights. way better tone and feel for an upright. fretlesses are just mobile uprights. knockoffs. Jaco pretty much invented them purely because his upright bass had a crack in it,

  • @quade64 I didn't see the comment two years ago...

  • @MetalElf ... Cliff Burton ?! xD

  • There is to much move in you fingers, they actually shouldnt separate that much from the fingerboard. And definetely your tune is not right yet.

  • MUSE-HYSTERIAAAAAAA

    nice playing :)

  • omfg (btw i like metal now not eminem)

  • I once saw a vid of Christian McBride with a fretless bass with an unlined maple fingerboard. For those who doubt.

  • I see you played a bit of It's my Life too, excellent :) You can play the chorus in one position, though.

Practice on relaxing your fingers and not throwing them around, it helped me a lot.

  • hey faaast brother!

  • great bassplaying, leaves pasto far behind

    if you ask me...

  • what are u playing through? what kind of bass? dude u got one nice tone!

  • dont slap on a fretless you can crack your rose wood

  • @KreatorOfDeath1985 rosewood? looks like a maple fretbord to me...

  • @groovemark

    i was talking in general

  • yeah, work on moving your fingers less. it will be easier to be fast and to sound clear

  • I caught a bit of "Hysteria" in there. Very nice.

  • very nice

  • sweet

  • your fingers are like a dying crab. crablegz :P

  • Unless you're John Myung of Dream Theater and we all know he does't know what he's doing

  • The above comment is sarcasm in case you don't get it.Watch John Myungs fingers.Tell HIM he shouldn't play with his fingers way out.

  • awful. well its not awful, thats a lie. But it looks good... sounds a little off tbh - tighten it up and when you play open, dont take your finger so far off the fret-board - makes it look l8ike you dont know what ur dong.

  • sloppy left hand technique

  • This makes me think of marshmallows, is this wrong?

  • nope :D

  • no, unless you are a 250 Lb 12 years old.

  • i think you mean:

yes, unless you are a 250 Lb 12 years old.

    idiot.

  • how much are the most fretless basses in these days?

    i want one to.

isnt there a fender jazz fretless? =]

  • yea but it is crap

  • is that a maple fretless? ive never seen that before

  • Don't put nearly so much into finger movement on your left hand. Also, turn the bass down and turn the mids up a little; I can hardly hear the fretless part of this bass's sound.

  • wot woz that song at the start???!!??

  • Hysteria by muse.

  • holy flying fingers batman!!

other than that, nice playing =)

  • the fretboard is white ? or just appears to be white ?

  • Looks black to me..

  • There are fretless basses with maple fingerboards.

  • histeria by muse. original

  • it sounded familiar. lol i love muse

  • listen to fingerboy18, youve got a lot of unnecessary motion going on with your left hand

  • i agree

  • hhahaha hysteria...sweet!

  • Careful not to get an injury. Only move as much as possible to play. Injuries usually occur from hyper extending fingers while fretting. Get those fingers to just hover over the strings.

  • what's with the hiss, eh?

  • fretless is so fun to play.

they have such a nice ring to them. take the bass out a bit more, and use the back pickups, if its able to.

i recently bought one. its so smooth. it has a really nice ebanol neck.

    props.

  • how in the hell would you ever learn to play that thing?? nice job btw!

  • same way you learn to play a bass cello violin extra

  • oh man those fretless bass are so cool! i want one

  • Your strings look like shadows, its awesome.

  • great work

ur bass is trippin me out i dunno if its the maple fret board or wat

but it kinda makes ur strings look like they wer drawn on in greay lead

    lol

  • love that fretless sound! <3

  • sure true but ive never seen a maple fretless bass before but ive found another from mikey guitars

but which brand is your bass from from lollups ?

  • there's different types of maple, some soft, some hard, i think occasionally a guitar pops up with a soft maple body.. real bright.

you wouldn't want a neck made from soft maple though :P

  • i thought maple was relatively hard

  • yeah your fingers are raising too much and focus on tempo. just sayin. and i think i know what song you were playing in the beginning Hysteria?

  • Ya!! He is playing Hysteria! Just faster than Chris.

  • i think you can work a bit in your fingers, they raise too much. Anyway, sounds good! Agree with the mid-range boost.

  • wow !? maple-fretless !??! i want one !

where do you get one ? how much ? which brand ?

  • is that what that is? I've never seen a fretless neck that color. mine is wenge, which is almost black. as are most every fretless bass i've ever seen.

  • I love the sound!

  • try to add more mid and trebele to the sound, and lower the bass, the sound is terrible.

  • yeah at the begining, isn't that hysteria by muse?

  • "no doubt" there huh1!!

  • cool man!

  • muse!
