Hunting Sepiroth for vengence? Hell, I still desperately want to revive Aerith today. And how many years has it been since the game came out? Yeah, that's the sign of a masterpiece game.

I wish developers would forget all this rubbish today about graphical fidelity. I want an emotional game that I'll remember for decades, perhaps my whole life. A game that isn't emotional is just a shell of what it could be, lacking the inner substance.

I love both Cloud and Squall, but I have to admit Squall was a real man. Unlike Cloud, Squall actually overcame his loneliness and learned to love. He had great character development. But then again, they were two different characters from different games with different lives.

About ff7 and 8, both stories are very well orchestrated, it's just a matter of personal preferences which one you can find better. If you like love stories FF8 is your pick since the whole plot revolves around the two main characters. In FF7 the story focuses mainly on Cloud, everything revolves around him, his past, and his pseudo-brother rivalry with Sephiroth. All in all i like FF7 more just because i'm not much of a love story fan...(and i like FF7 graphic more too... >.>; )

@nuggaa 13's gameplay can be perceived only during endgame stuff, when you get to fight some of the hard Ci'eth Stones mission targets, the whole story can be breezed through just mashing buttons and healing when needed...

@nuggaa Well, no, fortunately not all games are like that, but thats another story. 13 is pretti much 20h story (if you like grinding) 100h+ endgame, if endgame sucked it would have been pretty much trash (gameplaywise). My issue with 13 is that the game start getting intersting as a game after the story has ended and i start to lose interest, and ou start grinding and farming cause it takes an assload off money/exp to get things done. The gameplay is severely umbalanced toward endgame.

@nuggaa Button masher is a term used to define a type of game where you don't need to think much about what you are doing, you just mash up buttons mindlessly to hit things as fast as possible, no strategy, no rest, no brain, just hit-hit-hit-hit-hit. Besides, to move your character around you can also use the analog controlled now. ;p

its so annoying to hear what was the best final fantasy... everys single final fantasy was great in its own unique way, you can compare 7 to 8 or 10 to 13 or 4 to 6, they all had complete different story lines having to do with complete different things. So comparing 7 to 8 is like comparing... say killzone to white knight chronicles, they are just too different to try to compare. SO stop fighting about which was best, they were all totally different and great games sharing a title!

But I think ff8 was a big improvement over some of the things experimented in 7 (it was a rushed project after all). Why can't people love both? I still feel that Final Fantasy 8 was the best, followed by Final Fantasy 7.After that 10 was still "okay",but all sequels after it did not feel like a true Final Fantasy game.I miss the old days when the story was most important and not a new fighting system and grinding in dungeons...

I hated Final Fantasy 12 and it will be the last Final Fantasy i played.

@philoe220 agreed, 8 is the best. 13 was a BEAUTIFUL dissapointment. square has forgotten that while graphics and action are nice, the FF fanbace needs deep storylines and relationships. by making you merely the party rather than a charactor within the party we can not bond to the charactors as well...

the greatest example of what I am talking about comes from 7. when sephiroth killed aerith I stopped "playing" and was hunting for vengeance for the rest of the game. FF12 lacked this bond too.

FFVIII was released on the PC also, there are still a few copies floating around if you wish to reminisce without a playstation. I had it on both formats, though it still is in the format of a playstation controller. TBH there is always an emptiness after completing one of the FF's, as it consumes so much of our lives! xD
