I just got an AV3 for just under $200 - what a GREAT guitar. The flame maple top is beautiful, and the build quality is top notch - much better than just about anything you'll find at GC for under $500...the p'ups are OK, but I'm probably going with some Dimarzio 36th Anniversary PAF's in mine just to give it better tone...

If you're looking for an expensive, quality guitar, check out the Samick Greg Bennett line - good stuff!!

@PrsFenderJackson1980 the 59's use alnico magnets i believe ... but i think they are alnico v in which the only difference is the bite and crunch of the tone

I have an AV3 Goldtop. The only modifications I have made are to replace the original buckers with Duncan Alnico Pro 2's. It sounds awesome!! Fantastic guitar and I much prefer it to the more expensive (and overrated) Epiphone Les Pauls.

I have this one (AV3) and a AV6. The AV6's humbuckers are really good. So I've always kept them. For this AV3 I had to change to a better sounding humbucker. To be honest they play about the same (leaning just a little bit towards the AV6). If I were you I'd try'em both out. It's gonna be a judgement call lol.

that is BADDDDD. I also wonder did you change out the pots, input jack, and toggle switch too? I thought about picking up one of their strat models and switching out all the electronics

These samicks are great for the price. The stock buckers in this AV3 weren't that great so I replaced them. I also have a AV6 and the buckers in that are pretty awesome.

What about a TR2 and TR4? They're the only ones available at my local store.

I haven't tried them. If they're anything like the avion's they oughta be worth checking out. But yeah the higher in number you go the nicer the guitar will be. Ex: TR4 will be higher quality than the TR2.
