  • thanks for video I have a 2003 honda civic si hatchback and wondering why my car is not listed on saris website in the fit my car section ,anyway i went ahead and bought a bones 2 bike rake ,can someone at saris please add my car!

  • Thinking of buying this rack. Has anyone had problems with it scratching the paint or clear coat on their vehicles? I want to use it on a 2011 Alpina B7 and would rather not scratch up my paint job :). Thanks.

  • Great info...Thanks so much!!

  • I want on your website after viewing this video, which was good. I have a 06 Dodge Magnum, and the web site says this will fit. But after reading some of the comments on here I'm kind of now thinking of passing. Can you offer some advice? I also email support, just waiting for a reply now.

  • I have 2 bikes, one is a regular triangular framed road bike an the other is a 'Y' shaped frame suspension bike, will this rack accommodate a 'Y' shaped frame? Also I'm in the UK an so don't really want to call your US customer service line. Thanks.

  • @RocketRobinCMS Without seeing the "Y" bike, we can't guarantee a fit, but typically, the Saris Bike Beam is used to attach Y-shaped frames to the Bones rack. Your local bike shop that carries Saris racks should also carry the Bike Beam.

  • What instruction manual? There wasn't one in MY box.

  • @cjromb Sorry about that. You should have received an instruction manual in the box. Call us at 1-800-783-7257 or email us at custsrv@saris.com, and we will send you one.

  • @SarisRacks mine only came with the instruction manual. if i call you guys could you send me the rack?

  • Is it okay/safe/a good idea to put those top two feet against the rear glass of that Toyota Highlander demo car? It made me nervous to see that and it isn't even my car!

  • @coralblue14 It depends on the year of the Highlander. Check our fit guide on our website to see if the rack is a fit for your vehicle or call our customer service department for more information.

  • our saris is lifting 1/2 an inch off the trunk top when we are driving. Is this usual? We have it installed properly... and it sits ok when he vehicle is stopped. Wondering though... when we face the feet of the bottom portion onto the trunk itself rather than the bumper it seems to be a tighter fit. Is this good? Or will it cause problems to the trunk? We haven't had the bikes on it that way for fear it would cause a problem. Any advice?

  • @SDummer Give us a call at 1-800-783-7257, and we can talk you through the set up to make sure everything is secure.

  • Will it fit a porce 911

  • @dutyfan11 If you know the year of the vehicle, you can look it up with the Fit Guide on our website.

  • Will this work for three 20 inch mongoose bmx bikes???.. Please answer

  • @dutyfan11 As long as the bike has a standard top tube, it should work. If you are in doubt please call our customer service department, and they can help determine if the rack will work with your bikes.

  • Do you have any videos on how to install the rack on a late model Toyota Camry? I'm have some trouble with setting it up so that that bikes are high enough off the ground.

  • @dneunabe We don't have any videos that focus specifically on installing the rack on a Toyota Camry, but if you call our customer service department at 1-800-783-7257, they can help you out.

  • Does this rack work on a 2002 Honda Odyssey? I will need to travel a long way with it too. Thanks!

  • @bmwclubracer The online fit guide at our website will allow you to search for your vehicle to see if the rack is a fit.

  • I've got a BMW 1 series coupe, fits well, nice and sturdy, but you have to place some neoprene between the rubber feet and the paintwork, otherwise it has a tendency to rub and scratch the paintwork

  • I am so glad that Saris has videos. The installation guide reads like stereo instructions.

  • Was the ladies bike actually loaded in the video? Was it too crowded on the rack. Lots of angle using the top tube adapter. Did tire hang too low due to high angle w/ adapter top tube? Will a Thule top tube adapter work on this Saris Bones 3 model? I have a small frame Cannondale w/ rear and frront suspensions. Worried bike will not fit due to suspensions and sway cage as anobstacle loanding my bike.

  • I am thinking of investing on a saris 3 bike rack. I drive a infiniti G35 sedan. Would anyone recommend it?

  • Fits my Jeep Patriot like a glove , love it. It could use two thumb screws on the arms , legs and bike holders but I can't see it moving at all. Don't know about how it would fit a trunk but for an SUV I don't think you could buy a better rack.

  • OK, cut the first 20 seconds! This is not a commercial! We already bought the product noob!

  • I had the same thing happen to me. The Rack did not function as intended. I agree with coralfancy2009.

  • coralfancy2009: We're sorry you are having trouble with the Bones rack. While this rack fits many vehicles, we recommend to check our online fit guide to make sure the rack will fit on your car. The online fit guide can be found on our website.

  • Also, while we would like to accommodate all models of bicycles, there are a small number of bike frames that do not allow the bike to sit on the rack in accordance with our specifications. Our customer service department is always happy to answer any specific questions you have and provide the best possible solution. They can be reached at 1-800-783-7257.

  • I guess the womans bike in the very video above doesn't fit either because it was never placed on the rack in the video. OOPS.

Any sloped framed bikes force the bike too close to the ground and if you use the Saris cross beam it won't allow you to enguage the anti sway. Poor rack design, doesn't work!

Oh and i tried calling your so called "customer service" people. not very helpful. just my expierience...

  • Oh and BTW, the very first thing that i did was go to your web site to chech my cars compatability with the saris rack and guess what? it stated that it fits so i went out a purchased one only to find out that the manual calls out for minimum clearance of the bikes to the ground that can't be achieved with the reccomended bumper installation. waste of money, I returned mine to the store. Rack looks great but doesn't function...

  • Your online so called fit guide states that it fits my car but in fact it does not. I tried calling your so called "customer service" people but they are not very helpful. they told me that i should remove the wheels off of the bikes so it would fit. lol

  • looks great DOESN'T FUNCTION. Designer of the bones is using it for table top support... it probably functions for that but not a bike rack.

  • Do not buy! This is an unsafe bike rack IMHO. At first glance it looks great but after purchase it becomes clear that its not functional. Manufacturer states bike clearance to be min. 12-15" from the ground and installed on bumper. Notice that hight of wheels off the ground was intentionally left out in the video.

  • This is because the Saris rack is too short and won't allow that to happen. When used with my adult bikes, they hung too close to the ground since the correct installation calls for the rack to rest on the bumper. Additionally, if you look carefully at the video they never put the womans bike (2nd bike) on the rack. This is because it does not work. Can't engauge the anti-sway strap if you use a cross beam.

  • Lastly, arms have too much side to side play and bikes are not secure in a rigid fasion and probably has something to do with the flimsey plastic screws not securing the arms to the aluminum post properly. The above is just my .02 and my expierience with the rack. everyone has to make thier own mind to purchase or not but IMHO Its not worth the money. You are better off buying another rack that may not be as pretty but at least it would be functional, safe and secure.

  • I have heard so many complaints about this rack with the screws being plastic and stripping down so easily.

Is this true? I would like to get this rack from my Honda Civic 4dr. But I'm worried about that. . .

  • It is possible on older models to fatigue and strip out the knobs from over tightening through time. Effective January 2009, the knob was changed to a harder material to prevent this from happening. The new knob has an "s" shaped profile for easy recognition.

  • Got a Mazda 6 sedan with a spoiler, which causes me to mount my Saris 3 bike rack where the bottom legs are on the bottom part of my trunk (to the left and the right of my license plate) instead of on my bumper. Will this give enough support and will it not damage my trunk? Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • The feet of the Bones 3 bike rack need to be on the bumper. Putting them on the trunk can cause the legs to slide off the feet resulting in possible damage to the rack, vehicle, and bikes. You could look into the Guardian 3 bike as an alternative option. It is a recommended fit for the Mazda 6 with spoiler.

  • Or the Bones RS is also a recommended fit for the Mazda 6 with spoiler.

  • :( ok, I guess I'll put the Bones 3 on CL, and try and hunt me down a G3...thanks for the info, I probably would've chanced it with that setup if you didn't warn me. My Mazda thanks you...

  • I'm guessing the Guardian 2 will work with my Mazda 6 w/spoiler also?

  • Since the Guardian 2 is a smaller rack, it sits on the car a bit differently, so if the Guardian 3 is a fit for your vehicle, it isn't necessarily the case that the Guardian 2 will be a fit. You can check our fit guide online to find out which racks fit your vehicle. Just google saris fit guide to find it.

  • nice, exactly the answer i was looking for, go figure on the first page.. haha.

  • I wonder if the rack puts excess pressure on the window. I never owned a rack before. I wonder where the weigh is mostly concentrated on.

  • all the weight is on the bottom 2 supports thats normally on the bumper

  • So long as the rack is a fit for the vehicle, and it is installed properly with the feet on the bumper, not the trunk, most of the weight will be on the bumper not the top legs or glass. The upper contacts help to stabilize the rack when in transit.

  • what i dont get i have a all suspention bike so i need a bike beam so i started to look around and found that the THULE 982 beam does the same job as the saris and still fits on my saris bones 2 bike rack

  • excellent - just buy one ! lifetime warranty too !

  • great instruction, i want to get one

  • I'm pretty sure mounting the bike rack on the rear window of an SUV is a bad idea.

  • Cool! I want this!
