I think someone arguing for the Liberal ideology, regarding that last series of exchanges where Prof Mansfield "defends" himself, is going to find the reason that Liberals are not more tolerant is because they do indeed seek conservativism to extinguish. It will be argued that it is not intolerance to be against that which is anticipated to end but rationale. It will be argued, it is rational to expect electric lighting and not gas lighting.
