  • Why keep the hat on? No respect for the audience.

  • @Mazurka1001 after what he's been through? Fuck the audience

  • @htm890 No, you have to respect the audience. Always.

  • i love this book! i read both a farewell to arms and the things they carried and although i liked a farewell to arms better, this book was amazing! Tim O'Brien will go down as one of the greatest writers in history, at least in my book :)

  • I'm reading the short story "The Things They Carried," and am a little confused. Is it both a full novel and a short story?

  • @PsychoSocialChange Yes--"The Things They Carried" is the title story in a longer collection of related stories about a platoon in the Vietnam War.

  • This is my favorite book of all time. Tim O'Brien is such an amazing author the way he writes is so visual it's stunning.

  • I just finished the book..such a powerful work of literature.

  • is that the real tim obrian

  • @manbot25

yes, i met him at a similar event in Akron Ohio.

  • @manbot25 Yes. He was speaking at an event here in Washington, DC. He read more than this, but I only recorded the end.

  • This was a difficult story to follow since I do not have a strong likeing towards war stories. I appreciate O'Brien's nice writing, and soldiers who do, have, and are fighting to keep us free and as safe as possible. Thank you for sharing this video. I like hearing the author read his own material.
