Who's Arrangement is this? im playing Paul Lavender's Arrangement, which ends with The Circle of Life, which comes at the beginning of this arrangement =|
@umtorrent The publisher is Hal Leonard. The music was arranged by John Higgins. You can find the arrangement at JW Pepper music. It's catalog #2308245.
My school band played this last year... I wish we were this good, but we have almost no low brass, and the flutes are the only section that know what we're doing.... :(
Wow this is so beautiful! I HAVE to give major props to the two women on the left. They were juggling 3-4 intruments each! :D the whole piece sounded professional and beautiful. Great job!
@peanutbug529 haha I'm a clarinetist too, we played this medley last year, but my favourite parts are Be Prepared and Can You Feel The Love Tonight :)
@peanutbug529 same with our band. there are so many other instruments in ours compared to our measley 4 clarinetists, so you can barely hear us. ANd it doesnt help that 2 of them cant even play the instrument. Whil as across from us, there are 31 flutes, behind us there are 15 alto saxes, to the left there are 14 trumpets, and the stage on our other side
@HUNGERGAMESLOVER15 Holy crap! you have 31 flutes in your band!?!? we have two...and i'm one of five clarinetists and six trumpets and i think two alto saxs....
@kairi99roxas In our band we have like...30 clarinets, 27 flutes, 32 Saxs, 4 Tubas, 11 Trombones, And Like 42 Trumpets, 1 Basson, 4 bass clarinets...and many more...and were in humboldt iowa...:/
@vladtech I mean the song 'Nants ingonyama' and the song 'Circle of life' have related keys. but here in this arrangement, the key change was quite obvious.
I love this! That was awesome. When they started to play the 3 and 4th song, I didn't recognize them at first. When they got into the songs, I knew what songs they were.
i like how it gets faster in the middle of the first part of hakuna mata. none of the other vis of this do that, and our band does..so i was starting to think we wre the only ones playing it like that. im glad i was wrong, it sounds so much better that way
@JacobNaylor i see it. if you put your mouse over the director's head and move it up until you reach the trombone player, you'll see the guy playing the drums right in front of him. It's kinda hard to tell at first
You guys sound amazing! My band is playing this in a couple days for a "pops concert." We probably won't sound this good because we are just a high school band, not professional, but I think we'll do pretty good.
Only two of the song melodies work as an orchestral performance: Can you Feel the Love Tonight, and to a lesser extent Circle of Life. Elton John is a pop-song writer, and it shows. Listening to this, it makes sense why Hans Zimmer (the film's score composer) chose to ignore Elton's melodies for his score.
@WIDOW68 Something like this: watch?v=xVxyukaDWog
Those are songs from Aladdin performed by orchestra. Just because something was written with lyrics in mind doesn't mean it can't sound like a proper stand-alone piece of instrumental music.
"Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast is another of many examples:watch?v=yayKshDwZS4
Hear the difference when a classically-trained composer is involved, and not Elton the Radio Star? Too bad Menken was too busy with Pocahontas at the time.
@WIDOW68 Listen to the subtleties, layers, and complexities weaving in and out of those Aladdin compositions. At times, it seems like a single song melody can be split into two underlying melodies that could become THEIR OWN SONGS. In Be our Guest this is not easily heard at first, but listen to what is possible 45 seconds onwards. I picked Be Our Guest as the second example because it's actually a fairly simple song and yet it's still more complex and musical than anything Elton wrote here.
