so.. i saw the comments on this video and i think its really funny that there isnt as much praise for this as on the other cover videos of this song, because its really the cover ive heard. the point is not to sound exactly like the artist, that would be boring. i think you have a beautiful voice and you did a fantastic job.

You do have a great voice, but I think it would be more suited to softer songs. Neutral Milk Hotel songs usually require a bit more grit. The emotion is there in this song...it just seems misguided and misrepresented. You do have a pleasing voice, just not quite the right one for this sort of music.

@Mielikki7777777 the point is a cover is that you add your own interpretation to the song. she can represent the song however she wants, it's her cover. while you hear grit in jeff mangum's voice, she hears a pretty melody, and she wants to make that the prominent aspect of her cover. that's the beauty of covers, you don't have to abide by the original artist's feelings, you can represent your own.

Beautiful voice, and this is one of my favorite songs not just by NMH but by anyone. Well, that whole damn album is genius.
