  • This is one very "hurt" video. =p

  • I see that Mc Donnell Douglas/Boeing is taking advantage of the production problems that Lockheed Martin are having with the JSF. Or should it be that management is the source of the problem. The F-18 Super Hornet is a GREAT acft with some stuff even more advance than the problem plague f-22.

  • What countries are planning on buying the Super Hornet Jets?

  • Man this video makes me feel like i'm going down the road to buy a F/A-18F Super Hornet, this guy is like the car salesmen selling the car......damn if only I had a couple $40 or so million.

  • "... it's so snUGLY"

  • this version of the f18 looks pretty capable. although the downfall is that its not a production variant. if this version had that aesa radar, then i wouldve loved to see it in iaf colors

  • @dethica It IS and It DOES have the AESA. From block 2 and on has the AESA.

  • That external weapons pod could have great implications in increasing the weapons load of the F-35 without losing its stealth capability.

  • @petbedding01 Nope, because of the F-35 external...gun bay pod, in B and C versions.

    :)

But I'm curious if the F-18 pod could be mounted below the wings as well.

  • India will always stick with Russian stuffs ,and will never buy any of the American stuffs and subject themselves to the unpredictable whim of Congress, knowing full well that Pakistan will take very opportunity to wipe them out.

  • @KATAERO1

Indians have bought C-130's and C-17's.

  • @MokomaSusi I should have said India will never replace its Russian-made main front-line fighters with the US-made ones.

  • @KATAERO1 You mean that they just prefer the brides from the Russians

  • @NWguy83 What do you mean by "the brides from the Russians?"

  • @KATAERO1 im sorry i meant "bribes"

  • @NWg All US arm sales must be approved by US Congress & this presents an unacceptable limitation & potential risk for India, facing increasing threat from its archival, Pakistan. Russia arm suppliers have no such limitation as they can sell to whoever they want. & given long trusting relationship between the 2 countries, it is hard for the US to break into the frontline fighters business in India. Do you want to bet your frontline defense on the whims of often unreliable American politicians?

  • @KATAERO1 but do you really want to buy stuff that only Venezuela and Cuba still buy?

  • @NWguy83 If it does its job and comes with no strings attached, why not?

  • @KATAERO1 really thats why inda chose the raffle over the mig-35.

  • @nick74178ify Yes, and I have the highest regard for Indian aviators. They made quite a name for themselves flying SU-30 against the USAF F-15 in Red Flag air combat exercise a few years ago. I am just thankful to have them on our side.

  • LOVE the aviators he's wearing xD

  • i love the stealthy weapon pod!

  • man such way you are teliing like you will sell it in wall mart tomorrow.

  • The F-18 Super Hornet is maybe the best all-round value for money plane in the world.

By that I mean it can air to air fight, Bomb and perform maritime ops (anti-ship) very well.

The Super Hornet is a better bomber than the Raptor

I dont think any of the F-15's or British Typhoons do anti ship work

    Does anyone catch my drift?

  • @ToonandBBfan F-15K (Korean variant) can use Harpoon missiles. And I think that F-15SG (Singapure variant) too.

The Typhoon (Tranche 1 and 2) isn't capable to anti-ship missions and his A/G capabilities are limited. It isn't a good swing-role. I would have preferred that my country had bought Super Hornets or Strike Eagles, honestly.

  • @plissken83

I like the Typhoon but I wish we (Britain) also had a few Super Hornets in our inventory. Like I said, the F-18 is a fantastic plane and its great value for money

  • @ToonandBBfan Well, British will have F-35C soon. Unfortunately, in Spain doesn't exist a decision about the Lightning II yet.

  • @plissken83 The Typhoon may lack those characteristics today but its suposed to be fully capable on ALL of them in tranche 3 (and airframes upgrades).. its suposed to be a better ground attack aircraft than the Tornado IDS (wich was a dedicated ground attack aircraft) and the F/A-18

  • @sparrowlt You're right, the Tranche 3A will improve many aspects. But the problem is the schedule. The EFA program was designed to be full operative in the middle 90s. We're in 2011 and the actual Eurofighter is less able in A/G missions than your Tornado IDS or our F/A-18 MLU.

  • @plissken83 Im Spanish, we have F-18MLU too ..

agreed that the EF2000 delay sucks.. i still renember how in the early-mid 90s it was suposed to be fully operative by 1999/2000.. but again everything seemed to slow down, the F-22 was suposed to be operational by mid 90s too (when it was still called Lightning II and even F/A-22) .. the JSF in mid 2000s ..or even the failed Comanche.

At least Russia and China are developing 5th gen fighters, that should heat things up a bit

  • Sorry the F18 didn't cut it as far as the IAF is concerned! The Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon were better across the board.

  • The weapons pod looks about the same size as the regular centerline fuel tank or the air-to-air refueling system that can also be carried there, so I don't think it would be an issue for carrier landings.

  • landing on a carrier with that weapons pod doesnt seem like a good ideo 0.o

  • it this is now steath edition

  • According to the Indian procurement tender requirements, only 18 aircraft will be made outside India while the rest will need to be made in India. That may not sit well with Boeing. Anyway, they are already out of the down-select. The French are totally happy to transfer their technology as Dassault needs to recoup and to re-invest into the Rafael airframe to keep it viable.

I am always surprised at how rapidly comments turn nasty.

  • a super hornet with 52,800 pounds of thrust , hes very right on the power , so this will increast the thrust to weight ratio of the plane

  • Goodness this is quite an expensive jet :) no offense to Boeing

  • Good 2 c India update Forces

But India needs Aegis/Patriot/THAAD Missile Defense vs Communist China. Tejas=Mirage 2K type obsolete ok 4 R&D but 5th Gen needed

SU-30's limited #'s & India has to send Engines back to Russia for repair, this is not Strategically smart

India must get coalition w/ Strategic Countries, Japan & USA (base?) to defend vs China String of Pearl attack

Can't trust Russia they will support China ahead of India always. Independent Military capability is essential.

  • please I have never in my life met more a loser than him

  • FAIL!

  • Nice plain

  • Very good walkaround. I love F/A-18 its nice to see it has more growth potential.

  • good

  • How much thrust does this Aircraft now have?

  • @Wawaweewaj

According to Wiki, F414-GE-EDE should be about 26,400 lbs (20% higher than 22,000 lb for -400) max per engine with no increase in fuel burn as compared to the 414-GE-400. Supposedly the EBE gets a significant better fuel burn too.

  • Would be cool to use the weapons pod of the F-22. The comformal fuel take actually makes it look better. So more lift, more fuel, no drag, better looks. Sounds like a winner to me

  • F-16 can suck it.

  • F16 block 60 or F18 Super Hornet are better fighter aircraft GENERALLY????

Can sb how knows to answer me please?

  • Just to make it perfectly clear - E/F mock-up does not fly, and it did not fly at the show. Plastic models do not fly unless they are RC :)

  • Great acting by Ricardo Traven, test pilot of a plastic mock-up. Yep, the E/F model he's standing in front of while "informing" about all the new "capabilities", is just a plain old Super Hornet with fake plastic molds attached. It's all for show in order to hush all the talk about how much time/money has been spent with out delivering actual results.

Set up picture for the shoot of this fake ass advertising clip; ttp://pilot.strizhi.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Resize-of-IMG_9506.JPG

  • @MrCostas16 sry pal but this is not a real stealth version, its maybe a bit stealthier, but not a real stealth airplane.

  • you have to compare that to the centerline tank that is usually carried, and you have to take into account that the wing pylons of the F-18E are canted and produce a significant amount of drag. Also the pylon for that pod is small compared to the wing pylons. So it's not that bad.

  • An internal weapons bay pod ... carried outside the aircraft? An internal weapons bay pod... with low drag in its design?

    I'm confused.

  • I se a lot of inginious solution in order to keep the aircraft current. But after the shape of an aircraft is finalized it is bound by those. Using stealth pod does not make the Superhornet stealth. It just prevent it from getting less stealthy by carrying external ordenace. If a new engine are 20% more powerfull, the thermal signature probably goes up and most likely will fuelconsumption. I just wonder what the conformal tanks will do to the DF ability of the a/c? No free lunch I guess ;-)

  • Get the videos on FGFA

  • Ok, watch

    youtube.com/watch?v=8WVQkzQCaCw

  • Actually you're all wrong. F35 will replace aging Navy and USAF jets. That includes legacy FA18. Eurofighter has limitations that Super H doesn't and vice versa. Everyone has AESA now. Depends on how mature it is, however. So, its like buying any sports car, the customer needs to decide what they want for their buck. You all making comments about who's stupid or not is absurd because you simply don't understand. Enjoy the video and keep quiet - being civil would not hurt you.

  • @mdmfly

Please, the F-35 will never see the light of day to replace anything. Sure there maybe a couple hundred built by 2020 but by that time the aircraft will be outdated anyway. The longer the project goes on the more it destroys itself.

  • @131stfwFAN

That is the stupidest thing I've read today. Thanks!

  • @dogsbd

How is that in any way stupid? The project is nearly four years behind testing schedule and is going to be over the triple the cost per airframe than originally planned. The whole point was to have a CHEAP 5th gen fighter, to supplement the F-22. If they can't even get flight testing figured out how is this aircraft supposed to replace nearly a third of our military's fleet? Please do not comment on things you obviously no nothing about.

  • @131stfwFAN

I see by your profile that you're only 19 years old, so I can forgive you for not having lived through the design and development periods of most of the military hardware currently in the US inventory as I have. But you can take my word for this if you wish: The cost and delay issues with the F35 are NOTHING NEW. It has all happened before with the F15, F16, F18, B1, UH60, AH64, M1 etc. all of which have gone on to rule the battlefield, as will the F35 in the end.

  • @dogsbd "Rule the battlefield"? Yeah maybe when used against ragheads n low IQ types! Wait till u meet chinks, gooks and low IQ but suicidal paki taliban then we will see!

  • @MrNemesis888

    Take your meds dude.

  • @dogsbd So you are taking your Meds again u schizoid yankee bastard! Bastards like u are being bum fucked in Afghanistan n u come here n make noise!

How many got fecked this week ruling the battlefield?

take this f 18 n shove it up ur yankee Gay arse as it ain't going anywhere!!!

  • @MrNemesis888

Well, after such a well thought out intelligent reply like that I just don't know what to say. Are all "Nauruaians" as intelligent as you? No wonder Nauru is such an internationally respected power.

    {snicker}

  • @dogsbd Yes we don't buy Yank junk . Yes Yanks get it up the arse n great to see Afghan n Paki taliban fucking u Yank bastards despite all the money u yankee bastards give em!

Yeah US is a fucked up world power!!! Soon the Chinese are going to also head n bum fuck u yankee bastards! U are a has been power in DECLINE!!!

  • @MrNemesis888

Such language, do you talk like that to your mother?

  • @dogsbd Yanks only get spoken to like that as they are useless fuckwits! Cheers!

  • @MrNemesis888

The sane people reading your posts know who the real idiot is.

  • @MrNemesis888 shut ur butt hole u moron ...ugly...... fat....kid...just stay in ur home and suck dicks...

  • @MrNemesis888 chinese..LOL..chinese have shit military technology n its soldiers are poorly trained conscripts, also all this economic prediction about chinese overtaking u.s,well it might be true n not, japan in 70's n 80's were just like china,it was say japan would overtake u.s,didnt happen, same thing might happen for china, even if china overtake u.s economiially, its large population n arms embargo put on china by u.s n europe would keep its military on the low.

  • @MrNemesis888 here an example, russia economy rank 6 in world..but russia still stronger than china militarily, sure china have more soldiers, but russia have better weapons n soldiers..so if u.s rank 2nd economically,it will still pose a threat to china just like soviets pose a threat to u.s back then..also,most of china economic wealth would spend to keep its large population happy,u.s have far less population thats why u.s can spend billions on weapons development while china cant.

  • @fmoa china wealth comes from the u.s, we buy mostly everthing from them. we do not need there goods, wthen the u.s and e.u, uk and other nato countries decide to stop buying china under priced good, and start taxing everthing china imports into our coutries is when china value of there goods will start to be on par w/ othe rest of the world.(china is 1 big sweat shop) americans are sick of politician trying to run the large bussiness in the world TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT he speaks the way it is

  • @MrNemesis888 Bro what are you talking about the ragheads don't have fighter jets and my cousin is serving in afghanistan right now as we speak he says its not a conventional war because the enemy has no equipment all they have is teenagers with IEDs and AK's And the Superhornet is the best Fighter jet in the world besides the F-22

  • @mdmfly "being civil would not hurt you". What the fuck is the point in that. Youtube is awesome, simply for the fact that us ignoramuses can strut onto the comment forums in any vid, act like experts and abuse whoever we like without reprisal. Why the fark would you want to be civil when arguing is even more fun than watching the vids themselves??

  • hope IAF does not take it. eurofighter rocks.. f-18 is about to get phased out and get replace by f-35

  • @vrundaful

Wrong Stupid! The F-35 isn't replacing F-18 Super Hornet. India doesn't want to buy Eurofighter because it is too expense and it's AESA radar is still underdevelopment.

So Too bad. The Super Hornet is much cheaper than Eurofighter Typhoon, Dassault Rafale, & JAS 39 Gripen.

  • @USAAIRPOWER

Not more expensive than the JAS 39,

Still and all, the teens are the only birds with operating AESA radar.

  • @vrundaful

    Your totally stupid.

    -F35A replace A-10 & F-16

    -F35B replace AV-8

    -F35C replace F-18C/D

    -F18E/F replace F-14D back in 2006.

  • @USAAIRPOWER F-35 is following the same steps as the f-22 of cost overruns and mega delays. The f-22 was suppose to replace the F-15. The F-15 is STILL being made and the f-22 will end with only 195 made. The JSF delay will force the military to buy more legacy proven acft.

  • now this looks good! i hope the iaf goes for this for mrca
