@GruntyStudios The P4 was far from amazing. AMD, IBM, SunMicrosystems eta...all had FAR better CPU's than Intel, with architectures that were light years better than anything Intel had. The P4 was ridiculously inefficient, relied entirely on clockspeed, consumed a huge amount of energy, and got extremely hot. Intel only got good when they unleashed the Core 2 Duo.

We had a Pentium 4 2.8GHz PC back then, the advertising and spec made it look fantastic :) Well, it was great until i used a friends Athlon XP machine... it blew it away. Clocked lower but its superior architecture made it much faster :)
