this makes me sad, to see the "VAHINE" dancing just for tourists, befor it was a part of living, of the culture and we destroyed it. We did not repect this culture of paradise, we did not respect the nature of this fantastic region, we destroyed major parts with atomic tests and now we watch it as tourist shows
@carefullycollected i agree, thers so many dances and cultures out there tht arent respected such as this one, however exposing people to dances of different cultures does get some interested,i hope people start respecting these cultures more, theyre so beautiful, and their ways of life are very interesting :)
@yuniko1998 : thanks for your comment :-) exposing dances with sensual womens infront of tourists has nothing to do with repect. The beautiful cultures of polynesia is still today not accepted by there governement and not accepted by the western democracies and this makes me sad. We reduce all this to a spectacle wich has nothing to do with life. Look to australia and the bad situation for the aboriginies. We listen to there music, we collect there paintings, but they have no rights.
@carefullycollected i couldnt agree with you more,i think as long as they look at the dances and respect them its ok,but people dont seem to respect them at all,and its so sad because we could learn lots about their traditions too
@yuniko1998: we could learn so much from the old polynesian culture and living life with joy and respect for mother nature :-) so enjoy it :-) have a good night
@carefullycollected also,my sister does belly dance, tahitan, bachata, african, and traditional indian dance, and she says shes happy sometimes because she can teach people about the culture, but she gets very angry because she gets perverted comments from men who dont even understand the cultures, they seem to think of nothing but sex,so i really love our comment, you're probably one of the man few comments ive seen that actually respects cultures,i think people should really learn from this dance :)
