I have the same lens (sigma f1.4) but it take ages to auto focus.If you're using the auto focus how did you get it to focus so fast? mine takes almost 4 seconds.Do you have the same problem?

@shgfe3ay It's unlikely you'll get this quality with the $100 kit lens at f3.5. The $500 Sigma 50mm f1.4 has a 77mm diameter front element which simply sucks in light.

@shgfe3ay the answer is yes and no. You have to understand the kit lens is the basic of all the lenses.

First due to the fact that it's f3.5-f5.6 it's not very good at low light settings. You have to becareful with higher ISO settings because you start to get a lot of noticable noise in your darker areas. If anything I recommend you getting a lens f2.8 or lower. It allows more light in and will give you more control. There's also Premiere Pro + magic bullet looks/mojo for color correcting.
