Ha, I actually like that music video. It's just about not caring what others think and just being a dumb ass, doing what you want and being self confident.

But I also understand that there are obvious sexual OVERtones to it, XD! Hmm, I think that it's a rather rough edge transition of women getting the same sexual status as men, doing as they want without becoming "whores" or "sluts". Getting away with it like guys do.

It's not just music videos. It's ads on tv, buses, magazines. It's everywhere all the time. The message is clear: women exist as eye candy for men and her value is only linked to her ability to get that kind of attention. It's terribly hard to avoid this message. If you're a child growing up in this environment, it's hard to avoid following it.

I see what you're saying. I think some people are missing the point. It doesn't *matter* that the music is stupid, and yes there's intelligent stuff out there, but the point is that whatever dominates the music industry gets erroneous messages across to young, impressionable people. I can't believe people actually have stuff like this on their ipods. I only listen to really complex music and listen to music for rhythms and melodies. Tahoe - The programming has been around from the getgo. The only thing that changes is the stereotype the media tries and ram down our throats.

Rock and Roll did the same thing, and at the time of its inception, it was also accused of trying to 'program' people to a certain mindset.

Same thing with most musical styles.. The programming will always be there - you just need to ask yourself if it's potentially harmful. (I'd argue in this case, it is - if somebody is impressionable enough.)
