The PC Engine was available as a console to plug into a TV set, but it was also available as a hendheld console too, right? Were the games interchangeable?
@123doomdoom sooner be gay than have the quarter-brained cerebal palsy girlfriend you lured into your basement with hu-cards. hey, look at that, you're on the same level of grammar also as her by the look of your comment.
@illuminatioracle you diss we? wtf? you was the one whos creepin in this video and leavin dumb shit. don't play with we or imma have to come out hard next time. you was given warning bro...make the most of thez thez warning...thatz wassup! n' my GF loves me, we was commited man...we was commited!
@christo930, There's 101 reasons as to why everyone needs to own a TG, for starters it's the single most underrated system of all time without including it's PC Engine counterpart and many formats, Parasol Stars is also available on the original XBox Taito Arcade Collection. Endless gems exist on the TG.
why the hll do you have gradius in the top ten and not salamander?? salamander was way better besides salamander hat the coolest endbosses.. i mean how cool was the first endboss the brain with the arms.. i mean seriously that was art...
My favorites on PCE are Dragon's Curse (it's actually the sequel to Wonderboy 3 and the prequel to Dynastic Hero), R-Type, Space Harrier, and Super Dodgeball.
so we can say it is an incredible system compared to other 8 bit consoles let's say the neo geo under the 8bit but it can't really hold a candle to sega and nintendo at that time, look @ silpheed or donkey kong defnitly impossible on tg/cd but that wasn't asked from the system,it's great for what it is.
Can somebody please tell me what the name of that game was that had you moving a bruce lee looking character across a screen?, it kind of played similar to kung fu master or vigilante
Thanks. Ive just tried downloading it and playing it, but i cant make him punch, i can only make him kick, and i swear he was able to punch in the game
I think this system was best known for the shooter games. There are so many good shooters for pc engine...like fantasy zone, gradius, r type....the list just goes on...good stuff
It was marketed as 16bit, but TG16 and PCEngine were actually 8bit machines. They had a 8bit processor supported by Dual 16bit GPU's. Thats why it has such good graphics. But having an 8bit Processor it could only process 8bit wordlength instructions so it was limited in its competition when the SNES and Genesis came out.. An amzing machine way ahead of its time, limited in success by dirty tricks by Nintendo. Sony and Namco whooped Nintendos ass when it came to PSX, just deserts.
Actually, the 16-bit CPU in the SNES was just a minor evolution on the 8-bit CPU in the NES. The TG-16 CPU is just as much an advance on that same CPU. Further, the Sega's MC68000 CPU was also limited to an 8-bit bus width. Looking at actual MIPS ratings, the CPUs of the PC Engine/TG16, the SNES, and the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis are all very similar in power.
Parasol stars was released on the NES, but it sucks. It was also released on the Atari-st which is mostly on par with the Amiga version. The 2nd button of the tg16 makes it the best version available. They should have brought it out for the arcade as well since it's a great arcade type game. It's probably the best out of the whole bubble bobble series.
hi ,I have a question you may be able to answer. I have just bought after looking for ages! a new boxed turbografx, up to the point it arrived I allways thought it was called the Turbogrfx-16? (as it is described all over the place) but no-where on the box is the ident "16" used? just "turbografx" any ideas? or other unfo? cheers
Interesting choice for a list. Considering all the games to choose from. I know making a top ten all around game list for the PCE/CD would be difficult. Too many great games. Anyway, it's nice to see a different from the norm list for a change ;)
#1 You suck at Son Son hehe, #2 Can't believe "Liquid Kids" didn't make the list. #3 you should show more GAMES, like do a video of 30 games @ 20 secs each... just so we can see what they're like... instead of us having to play every one of them.
Parasol stars is a great pick for number one. The TG-16 is the ONLY game console with this game and it is the best in the whole bubble bobble series, making the TG a must own, if for no other reason than to play this game. It's either that or the Amiga which isn't a game console. With it's bright cheery graphics, gay music and addictive gameplay you have an arcade classic that should be in any gamers bag of games.
Parasol Stars was also available for the NES and Game Boy, but those versions are nowhere near as good as the PCE/TG-16 version. The Amiga version looks and plays the way it should, but it's missing some of the music. The game really deserves a lot more attention than it gets though.
The nes version is so bad, I don't even consider it Parasol Stars. It plays like a type in game from the 80's computer magazines. The Gameboy version is little better. There is a rumored C64 version but no prototype has shown up after all these years. Supposedly Ocean was working on it. Definitely in my top 5 games.
Hell, we don't want your acceptance, or the others of your sort who think that "next-gen" is anything new. The case is, all your games started with these, and all the massive companies can do, is re-create the same game with a different graphical engine.
Sure, there good sometimes, but who wants to re-visit World War 2 for the fifth time? Apparently the creators of CoD5 do.
Oh snap! I didn't know Rainbow Islands came out for PC Engine! I thought it was only for NES and the Japanese Mega Drive. Looks like a perfect port of the arcade game.
Man I hope I get to own all of these games one of these days. The only one I have on your list is Soldier Blade.
An excellent choice for No.1!

2. Lords of Thunder: Best Shooter ever with one of the greatest soundtracks in a game.

4. Gate of Thunder: Proves PC Engine was a sound and graphics powerhouse.
