@SaviorSelf92 They defused the bomb. The trigger is those 2 metal probes - when the bomb is activated the probes come together to form the connection for the trigger. Right as the bomb was activated they both managed to get a plastic straw between the probes thus preventing the circuit closing, so the bomb could not detonate.

The plane used in this film the 747model is at the Airtel Plaza in LA i was there last week and saw it in the Foyer ;-)

Halle Berry's character was the best portrayal of a retarded character since Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump. She was so incompetent it was stunning, and yet Kurt Russell kept asking her for help. Anybody who watched this movie all the way through knows she did absolutely nothing to help...nothing. On account of her efforts the plane should have crashed at the end. Then she has the nerve to say "just fly the plane" as if he's the one who can't do things right and she's some inspirational presence.

He did not deploy spoilers it would have been very helpfull to slowdown the plane.
