  • so hard!

    but looks really delicious~!

  • Watching this video made me want to try hiyashi chuka, so ordered it at a restaurant. It would have been really tasty but with all the vinegar, tomato, lemon ... a little too sour for my taste. I think when I try making this for myself, I'll use half the amount of vinegar and replace the rest with water, and omit the lemon.

  • Looks good, but I'll leave the shrimp out. I don't care for a trip to the Emergency Room.

  • I don't care if I'm female, i'm going to Japan to marry this woman!

  • @hannahthebug Haha! You'll have to get in line behind me! Even, though I'm a hirl too I have a Rachel Maddow size crush on this Obasan!

  • @silentxfilmstar if your close to an RN market then i think you can (maybe find the noodles) find the noodles cause they have an asian section.

  • japanese foods always look good n ish good!...=]

  • @LoveWithTidus thats bad joke but its funny

    ;)

  • Im soo fascinated with Japanese recipes. I guess Japan can say the same for American recipes.

  • @erydavision lol they say mmmmm grease good

  • @coreyakabob1 yep, they love us.

  • I wish my mom could cook like that

  • She prepared the shrimp in many of her other videos. It would be needlessly redundant.

  • also, if you want to get down and dirty, nitty gritty, you really need to cook ANY vegetable nowadays due to e choli in the soil. period. it is why every vegetable package now comes with a "cook thoroughly" warning on it .

  • @spadehatesscrewtube

No, you don't have to cook vegetables. You can eat them raw or just steamed anytime, if you clean them before properly.

Just. wash the vegetables under running water with a scrub. there are even organic cleaning liquids on the market, to apply on them. and also ultra-sound cleaners, similar to the one your dentist uses, but especially for kitchen use.

you CAN be safe without cooking

  • here you can see the ultrasonic fruit cleaning machine:

    watch?v=lyZZmiFNK_0

  • @zensorship incorrect. unless you are x raying your food beforehand, you have absolutely no way to be sure there is e coli present. (or anything else) think with me for one second. e coli is present in soil. it can be present in water if weak filtration/treatment contamination occurs.

now, what are fruits and veggies MADE of? this is a worst case scenario, true.

but do you really want to gamble with your health? frozen veggies come with warnings to cook them now. wonder why?

  • @spadehatesscrewtube

you may be right from an "absolute" standpoint, but I have eaten lots of fruits and vegetables uncooked, and I am still alive.

People don't die from every bacteria, you know. Remember the childhood rhyme: "Bacteria is just hysteria" - we have an inbuilt safety system, it's called anti-bodies. Take a few precautions, and your body can take care of itself.

  • @zensorship well yes, that was a bit on the hysterical side. but how are we supposed to protect from pollution in the soil or water? mercury, barium, chlorides and the like? bacteria and virii are not the only things to worry about, especially with that huge BP oil spill adding tons of crap to the ocean and hence fish we eat.

the ultra sound option is a good one, i admit. and if we are simply talking about preference, i like steamed buttered veggies, especially asparagus/artichoke/

  • @spadehatesscrewtube

Asparagus I like too, the only negative thing about it - forgive me for saying it loud - is the stinking piss afterwards.

  • @zensorship oh boy. i am totally in agreement with you, the only downside, is that now, i want to drink an espresso, then eat asparagus, then maybe drink a litre of vodka, and see what happens :p. all kidding aside, yes both asparagus and coffee both make your urine stink. however, so do a lot of ethnic entheogens.

  • Hiyashi Chuka means "cool china".

  • damm they put eggs on everything eww...love japs but there food is weird sometime..

  • @nennu15 whats wrong with eggs? you don't like omelletes? thats all it is man .. a protein source.

  • whys it gotta be cooking with dog

  • omg, the lady's shirt hurts my eyes @_@

  • 4:23 shrimp out of nowhere. no prep, no how to, no cooking, just BAM! shrimp.

  • @spadehatesscrewtube uh yeah cuz you can buy them like that anywhere

  • @shiril01 well, ok sure. but no intro to the shrimp? no anything? not even mentioned at all except those few seconds? thats not very instructional you know.

i'd be willing to bet tons of americans don't even know to de vein shrimps for health reasons before cooking. i'm damn lucky i took home cooking in high school or i wouldn't even know myself.

  • :58 wait, what? "lets make sesame sauce next" uhmn... ?

  • At the some cheap restaurants in Japan, when it becomes an early summer, a following poster is pasted on its entrance.

"We have started the Hiyashi Chuka Noodles."

It is the famous sign that Japanese can feel the visit of the early summer.
