They've asked for their forgiveness and understanding about the past, they also invite all Vietnamese to return home and see the difference since the end of 1975. The president is elected by the NA, the NA is made up of elected public citizen, the NA has the voice of the people, the people complain to the NA and the police. I know Viet Nam has a huge problem with corruption and if you look at the statistics she had made some good progress with dealing with it. But to be logical here, all 3rd world countries have or had corruption. You got to acknowledge 8.5% GDP per year + political stability shows promising future for domestic issues.

This is also an important matter because sometimes having only one leader will cause a slowdown in major decisions for the economy.
