Good stuff, saw the review and found the gravel cleaner didn't clean until i wrapped a bag around it like you did. Thanks ;) Also got the battery size changer like you did off ebay for 99p.
@csrajput Update - before doing this yesterday my nitrite levels where really high and now there at 0. Sorting out the crap in the tank must have helped it a lot.
Once I have removed sufficient water from the tank, I can close the valve at the bottom of the Venturi, turn on the faucet, and refill the tank with tempered water. Finally, I can disconnect the tubing from the Mr. Cleaner, reopen the valve on the Venturi and use its suction alone to empty the tubing of water as I roll it up for storage.
This 2 x 10 tube is available as a spare part for the Python (or similar) device.
So, my scenario is to use the Mr. Cleaner to pump water and debris from the tank to our office sink through the Venturi that came with the original kit. I may try turning on the faucet and using the Venturi to assist the Mr. Cleaner pump to provide additional suction.

I tried your modification of the Mr. Cleaner input tube, but the extension tube that attaches it to the body of the device kept "collapsing" when I applied the slightest downward pressure to it while cleaning the gravel. Instead, I used the 2 x 10 input tube that came with the Python kit. It attaches rigidly to the Mr. Cleaner and the overall length of the device doesn't change with downward pressure.
Just to clarify, the 2 x 10 tube came with the Python-like Venturi-powered water change kit. Unfortunately, our office sink, about 50 feet from the tank, does not have a high enough flow rate to enable the Venturi attached to the faucet to create enough suction.
When I saw your video, I decided to give the Mr. Cleaner a try. As I mentioned, its pump has enough power to move water from the tank to the sink, thus performing the water change I had intended to do using the Python device. I tried t
Your video persuaded me to try this device because our office sink doesn't have sufficient flow to operate a siphon (similar to Python) water change kit. I found, though, that the 2-inch diameter by 10-inch long siphon tube that came with the kit (also available as a spare part only) makes a great substitute for the slotted tube you modified in the video.
This device has enough suction/pressure to pump water from the tank to our sink almost 50 feet away.
@BSpielman I havent seen a 2x10 inch tube as I did not get it with this device. However, I think the slotted tube is better as the slots make the water come through the gravel, thereby rinsing gravel and sucking the debris better. If the battery powered pump of this device is combined with the siphon (due to gravity) then the resulting suction is indeed great.
Thanks to this review I'm going to purchase one this minute. I'll make my own mods. and I let you know how it goes. You, my friend keep Youtube informative!
Thanks for your video review. Very informative & helpful!! With so much negative stuff said about this product it's great to see a way to overcome it's shortcomings and make it even more versatile. Being able to vacuum without always having to do a water change would be great. Thanks again!!
thumbs up if you lol'ed when he sucked up the gravel and got surprised
