  • To the bass player , when you are playing the walking bass you have to play only the scale notes whit a little alteration , but you play a lot , in this case the scale in Dm is the Dorian Mode from C , so the scale is D E F G A B C D , mi favorite alteration is Bb sounds really good , but its a good cover is only an advice Greetings

  • @ccrstucook interesting comment and educational ... thanks very much! :)

  • The changes of So What are Dm7 and Ebm7... Try to watch your major third because it gives D7-Eb7 instead (you should try to emphasize F natural and not F sharp for Dm7 / G flat and not G natural for Ebm7). Still, it is a nice way to make the song sound different! Good job to you guys and nice feel

  • cooooooooooolllllllllll

  • nice jam =) sounds if you had much fun ;D i like that, its great

  • @xXxSS3xXx Thanks a lot .. :)

  • that's great, nice bass playing there!

  • @MetalKidDanny Thanks Dude!! :)

  • That's a Viking, right?

  • @Eddy1993PT ... right!

  • @Pudsy440 I've got one myself, same colour. Great guitar, right?

  • @Eddy1993PT I think it's a great guitar for the price and all, real smooth, although that's my nephew's guitar ... I play bass. Thanks for the comment.

  • at last I find really good cover (tempo, intention....), bravo guys !

  • Thanks man! Appreciate it.

  • Well the head of this tune is originally only played by the bass. I don't like the sound of the guitar playing it along with the bass

  • You play good, but I don't like your bass sound. Sounds like you have an octaver on.

  • that's the guitar playing the same riff as the bass in the beginning and end, that's why it sounds like an octaver

  • Nice job! Good interpretation of a great track. Enjoyed what you brought to the track, keep it up!

  • Hey thanks !

  • I love it!

  • It's nice! 5 stars. :-)

  • i like yall rendition of it good stuff

  • This was nice . Very inspiring for a 2 year bass player . I've never hear the original , but I know good when I hear it .

  • screw all the youtube critics that get on here and have to nitpick every single thing every person posts on here. good video man

  • nice

  • i think you are excellent musician, but really i must admit you change the feeling that the song creates. Miles Davis' gives you that; "So What." But yours is nice but doesn't got that unique feeling.

  • no biggy man ... it's alright we're just amateur rock and blues players giving it a go ... I know it's not perfect ... :)

  • nice , but boring

  • Thanks, I will wait for you to up load your EXCITING bass lines ... :)

  • the jam was sweet. got funky

  • nice jam

  • Sounds cool!

  • you completely wrecked the harmony...

  • ahhh, thank you very much ... hahahaha

  • the bass is with a little bit oktaver oh yeah

  • the bass is a little sharp

  • Sharp as in out of tune or?

i think this is a very nice video. they are musicaly very tight with each other.

  • Lovin this. Kind of blue is one of my favourite albums ever, perfect for chillin too. Allmost bought an atk years ago except for an idiot sales guy! Wish i had done, well played. JAZZ!

  • Your ATK sounds great! You use flats, right? I use the Galli flats.

  • Thanks, actually, I have roundwounds on this atk in this video ... I did experiment with flats on it for a while but I like to practice the pop and slap stuff on this bass and RWs work better for that of course ... I do use a lot of bass though with the control knobs ... Galli ... fancy Italian strings ... I just looked them up ... they sound like quite the string, bet they're not cheap though ... :)

  • I have my ATK for 4 or 5 years now and i always change between roundwounds and flatwounds. The best roundwoundsound i have with the DR sunbeams and the best flatwoundsound with the La Bella deep talkin. By the way, you did good work on bass! Keep goin! :)

  • I payed about $200 for it including a cheap hardshell case. One of the best buys I've made.

  • wow ... yeah ... that's an excellent deal! Good one. Yeah ... I like the shiny plain maple board too ... the fretless atk has rosewood on it. $200 ... STEAL!

  • Mines an older one that I picked used maybe 10-12 years ago. It was mint, even had the protective plastic on the pick-guard. The fretboard has a glossy finish which I like. A friend has a pre-EB Stingray that has a wonder neck and it has a glossy coat as well. Really a nice instrument.

  • I also have an Ibanez ATK300. It's a great bass. I had an Erie Ball Stingray for a while but sold it cause I'm not gigging anymore and the ATK is just great if I do need a bass.

  • Hi Jerry, I agree, they're a solidly built, nicely designed instrument ... I think you could buy like 3 atks for the price of a new stringray ... haha ... I don't gig anymore either ... hey I see you're in Canada too!

  • oh btw ... I have 2 atk300's one is a factory fretless (no longer made) and a fretted one, both from the mid 90's ... is yours one of the newer ones? "The Beast is Back" is the ad campaign for the new atks ... :)

  • Fantastic version, love it.

  • awesome.

    greetings from mars

  • So tell me, I'm no expert on guitars... is this two bass guitars? Im loving this sound, and i cant believe i only just found out about it. Being impulsive as I am, I'll probably go buy a bass guitar, but the wrong one...

  • no, one is a 4 string bass guitar (left)

and the other is a 6 string guitar.

  • Very "cool cats" version dudes!

    You're groovin'! Great!

    I love it!

    Congrats from Paris!

    Cheers,

    Chris

  • Original version is D-D#/Eb but it is very good

  • smoking.

  • cool

  • "AWESOME" comrades just "AWESOME"!!! =0)

  • Haha me and some of my friends from Jazz band were trying to get a little combo going. This was the only song we learned before we lost interest.

It sounds like we were playing a version transposed to a different key, because I had to use my 5th string to play it.

  • hey could be ... looks like were playing this in d ...

  • Ah I realize why it looks different now, I was playing a low d on my b-string for the first note, rather than the one you started on.

It threw me off because you went down a string after the first note, so it looked like you were starting on an a.

  • loved the jam.

  • nice shit gentlemen.

  • Nice guys

  • is the hagstrom good for music with distortion?

  • The Hagstrom Viking is a very versatile guitar. It is good for everything from jazz to rock. I use tube amp overdrive with my guitar, but I haven't really used distortion. I imagine it would be fine. However, I would recommend a solid body guitar such as Fender Strat or a Les Paul for heavy distorted music. Hagstom makes a guitar similar to a Les Paul called a Super Swede that would be a good choice. Peace

    Jah

  • sweet bassline thanks crank da volume--doesnt matter what key, my man is playing some ill shit right here--peace

  • its in whatever key feels good to them, get the stick outta your but and enjoy the music guys you'll play alot better

  • That was nice, but the tune is written in D minor. You played it in D major. You might want to listen to the original again and get the form down too. It's AABA. Your form seemed kind of random. Great tone on the bass though.

  • chill brotha

  • conroto gave a constructive comment. What you played was good but the sound intended with the original song does change if you change the D-7 to a D7 chord.

  • cool!

  • cool playing .

but excsue me but so what is played on Eb minor .the bass played D major

  • Nah, it is played in both D and Eb. Seriously . . .

  • It's played in D minor and Eb minor, the bass was playing D major and Eb major. Hit the minor third, not the major third, guys! Other than that, SICK JAM!

  • oh . . .

  • it's actually in D dorian

  • hahahaha i understand... doesn't matter, it sounds good :)

  • & thanks! :D

  • as always, this is an enjoyable sound :D... i like it.. but, don't you think it would sound better in fretless ?? well at least, i like more the fretless sound X_X, the only thing i like from the frets, is slap >.< anyway you are good !

  • yeah... you're absolutely right but the fretless was in the case and I was in a lazy mood .. ya know? :D

  • We want fretless! :)

  • sweet 'n' smooth, kids! I dig it

    and nice bass ;)

  • I like to play this, I learnt it after watchin' old marcus miller jazz it out live. I play it further up the neck though :)

    Nice rendition guys :D
