What's amazing about his songs in a spare setting is seeing how sophisticated his songwriting and chordal structures were. The richness of his chord choices are more evident on the piano. Not for nothing does Christopher O'Riley reharmonize his tunes - Smith's original chords are sufficiently inspired to do this.

great upload! this video really showcases why Elliott was one of the greatest musicians of recent years. So humble, yet passionate. and his versatility with instruments reminds me of someone like Paul McCartney. Rest in peace Elliott, your talent and passion will be forever missed.

Elliott smith was the quietest performer at the oscar performance, but had the biggest impact. He scared the shit out of the rest, who realised how shit they were. Celion dion... that left a bad taste in my mouth
