Thank you for your interest in American politics, despite you being an Englishman. It's good to know that the intelligent members of the human race aren't retreating into nationalistic isolationism. Because humanity is so interconnected politically, economically, and socially, do you believe that the attitude of foreign interests towards any nation's potential leadership has a significant (if indirect) impact on the election/appointment of those leader? If so, how? Also, I think you're rad.
there is no queens portrait on our money. we serve no king but the fact of the matter is you cant run your own country. youve given it away to immigrants, overthe last fifty years youve lost your empire and 230 years ago you lost the right to say ANYTHING about the United States of America. @s6u6r6f6 Hahahaha, no, i wouldn't be so haughty and arrogant about your country when its highly likely that it will be surpassed by china as a world superpower within out lifetimes. Not that thats a bad thing, it would be nice to see american's knocked off their high horse and forced to acknowledge that you aren't above the rest of the world
No, no, no. Minor point: the Elite or Liberal Media is any outlet that dares report facts uncomfortable to the Theocratic Right. Not merely the ones Gingrich dislikes.
I for one am amazed of how far Newt Gingrich has gotten. It was only last year that much of his campaign staff left him and was facing financial troubles. Now he's on top of delegates ahead of the republican convention.
I might point out, technically, Gingrich lead the charge to impeach Clinton, but not for having an affair. The charge was for lying to the country. Of course, this hardly spares him the charge of hypocrisy because who, in public office, has not done plenty of that as well?
All I know is, this country will be in a mess if any of these republican candidates are elected. Santorum is just crazy, Romney can't seem to get his facts straight, and Gingrich is a hypocrite.
Oh Jacob don't you know, cheating is only bad when liberals do it. If republicans do it then it's entirely forgiveable. Even if they have sex with male escorts while taking drugs for example.
Yes, Latum, I agree about repeatable offenses making a bad person. That's the reason why I can't stand most of my family. They're like Newt. Foul, hypocritical 'christian morals'...
Like others have said, please do comment on Santorum! Especially your opinion on the glitter bombs. I think it's great to harass him with glitter and love chants, etc. I'd seriously kiss the person who came up with the idea...or offer a hand job.
Agreed. Newt's a total bonehead and Sicktorum is an airheadrelying completely on the values Gingrich disregards on a regular basis. So we have the big gov't flip-flopper, Mitt, or Ron Paul, Champion of the Constitution. :) You can guess who I favor. Ever look into RP?
@gijane2320 For gods sake, why are so fucking infatuated with Ron Paul? If by champion of the constitution you mean 'everything is unconstitutional', then yeah, I see it - he wants to abolish the department of education. He wants to repeal the civil rights act. He's insanely pro-life, thinks global warming is a hoax, that evolution is false, is anti-gay marriage etc. etc. I could go on.
@LatumWay The American Government is utterly corrupt and unconstitutional. They've ruined the educational dept. Give the power back to the parents and teachers at a local level. As for everything else, much of that is misconstrued by media, but it doesn't matter. He won't try to dictate the peoples' daily habits with his viewpoints. He wants to get back to the ideal of individual liberty: live as you want as long as you don't hurt anybody, freedom. Hence, the infatuation. :)
@LatumWay I am not a supporter of any of the republican nominees, but what I will say is that it's true that RP is all of those things, but he is also very pro-state, and thus his opinions, in his government, would be ultimately meaningless, as he will leave it to states to decide.
@LatumWay I am reminded of you video, Should the UK have a written Constitution. You can say that this is one of the downfall of having one. With Ron Paul, I can understand a bit on why he wants to abolish the department of education and repeal the civil rights act. Don't know about the rest.
@LatumWay My opinion is that the only reason people support Ron Paul is his foreign police and his stance on (many, not all considering your opinions) civil liberties. You can also say economic policy but that into question.
@LatumWay Unfortunately it's fair enough to say that he's our best /option/ on the Republican side. I can deal with him being pro-life because he's not going to sign anything into federal law regarding that (because of the whole omgconstitution bit) and I can deal with him having other flawed opinions because, again, his biggest stance is to make the federal government smaller. So, if he makes the government smaller, he won't be able to enforce his views on us. Moreover, he doesn't want to
@LatumWay abolish /education/, he wants to abolish, as you said, the department of education. He wants to have that brought down to a state level instead of a federal level, and it may turn out to be more effective on a smaller scale. Again, I'm skeptical, but is he /really/ going to be able to abolish the department of education? No, he's not. So there's nothing to worry about there. More importantly, he wants to lower the deficit and lower our taxes, which is what we need for 4 years.
@LatumWay You stupid Brits should refrain from commenting about OUR Constitution. You lost that right in 1776. Also Ron Paul is a LIbertarian--look it up--- and get yourself a haircut, while you are at it. Agree with ya about Gingrich, Romney and Santorum (not one Christian among them). Oh, you get your news from Jon Stewart?? THAT says it all. Go get 'em Dr. Paul.
@LatumWay okay Mr. Sheeple...you've got me dead to rights. Betcha were glad you had yer guns during the riots--huh Jacob?? Even your name says "sheeple personified". Don't get it do you? Stands to reason.
Ron Paul this, Ron Paul that. You're talking points are leftish. Neat! BBC. In the US, most of the best talking points on Paul are from the right. FoxNews. They're pretty good. Honest research? Who does that? And who cares? We're just all having fun.
@faraoseth That's not true. He believes very strongly in the separation of church and state. I don't know where you'd have gotten the idea that he wants any mixture of the two, but individual rights or freedoms would be the base. Our unalienable rights are not based on color, creed, gender or background. Liberty is for everyone.
@gijane2320 he thinks the federal constitution shouldn't overrule the state constitution. so if a state wanted to make it constitutional for a religion to be established they can. this used to be the case at the founding of our country.
@slytherinspy1960 That's simply not true. He wants the federal government to get back to the constitution, which would keep it checked and balanced and unable to rule tyrannically over the states while the states govern themselves for the most part in respect to the constitution, hence the Supreme Court of Law. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;..." (1st Amendment) States must respect this as well.
@gijane2320 maybe it was some other libertarian that was making that argument then again i *think* he said that i'm not sure. i have looked it up though he did say he doesn't believe in separation of church and state....though he believes in freedom of religion and is against the establishment of religion...which is separation of church and state. he is kind of unclear on this issue. i can see the confusion.
@slytherinspy1960 His argument here is that the courts under a growing and oppressive government have been using these words, which are not in the constitution, to restrict and silence religion on a ridiculous level. youtube.com/watch?v=NyfnHOPAhHo
@gijane2320 i humbly disagree. i think that many times christians want special privileges such as the ten commandments at court houses or the such. that is ridiculous. wanting it removed is not ridiculous. i don't think that religion is being restricted whatsoever. i think that is something to get people to think that those dangerous godless heathens are trying to take away your religion which again is ridiculous.
@slytherinspy1960 I agree with you that there are people like Gingrich and FOXNEWS who are way melodramatic and that commandments at a courthouse shouldn't be a taxpayer endevour. Actually, I don't see Ron complaining about stuff like that. (4eLL24fCe4w) (First and last 42 seconds are the same as before) He just emphasizes the defense of liberty and the first amendment.
Fun fact: When I was seven years old, Newt Gingrich came to my school. For some reason, my mom was at the school that day, and when Newt walked down the hallway shaking all the kids' hands, he went out of his way to stare awkwardly at her tits. We have a picture of it. Good memories.
@jamiedunne I don't know anything about taxes and economics which is why I don't make videos about that topic. Also, I am planning a video on the London Riots. So zip it.
@LatumWay 'Zip it', really classy, back to my original comment, I still find it unusual that your more interested in USA issues than in your own country.
@jamiedunne Okay then. Anything else? I mean, clearly there's a degree of enmity behind that comment. You obviously think there's something wrong with my interest in American politics and my apparent (yet demonstrably false) lack of covergae of UK politics.
@LatumWay No enmity here, and I don't think I said it was wrong at any stage, if I did you have my apology. I do think it's strange that someone as intelligent as you shows more interest in the good old USA than your own country, maybe it's to do with your demographic.
Oh and by the way, zip it, isn't exactly conducive to a friendly exchange of comments.
I could have sworn that Gingrich "lead the charge" against Clinton for perjury, not what he did in his personal life. If you remember, the Ken Star report found 11 impeachable offenses against Clinton. Clinton, a lawyer, chose to lie under oath while being questioned about a pattern of behavior in regards to his treatment of women who were his subordinates while he was governor of Arkansas.
Being a lawyer, he knew full well that he had the privilege to plead the 5th amendment...
... and not perjur himself, or in other words, commit a crime. Or... he could have told the truth. In which case, it's not a crime, and not an impeachable offense. Again, Clinton wimmingly chose to commit the crime and subsequently rub it in the face(s) of the American public. For this, the congress , under the leadership of Newt Gingrich, did what was in the best interest of the American people, and attempt to remove a criminal from the presidency.
I haven't put my lot behind any candidate yet so that should not have been construed as a supporting statement about Newt Gingrich, only support of the facts. As I've made my opinion on gay marriage fairly well-known, and nothing you've said after that appears to be misleading in any way, then I see no need to correct you.
I will say that if any harm is done to marriage by gay couples wanting the privileges of it, it is only exascerbated by cheating on your wife... repeatedly.
@thereprieve Gingrich and other republicans did what was best for themselves. Please don't try to make it like their intentions were noble. Anything to go after Clinton would've been fine with them. Gingrich and Bob Livingston resigned due to their affairs coming out and they called on the president to resign due to his. If it was solely about him perjuring himself, why would they resign due to their affairs and why would they ask him to step down due to his?
@logic39da Repeat for me again why Gingrich resigned? So, if it was because of an affair, then he did the right thing, which Clinton refused to do. If it was because of the allegations that were fully investigated by the IRS, what, exactly, were their findings?
It sure is nice to know that you'd prefer a criminal remain in the white house. Proving that the democrats are more about power than what's best for the people.
@thereprieve "So, if it was because of an affair, then he did the right thing, which Clinton refused to do." Regardless of party, infidelity is no reason for anyone to resign. It's a family matter. If you think it's more than that, please stop voting 'cause youre the reason we have the clowns we have in place. Youre more concerned about WHO someone is doing instead of the JOB theyre doing. Youre probably the same person that screams getting gov't out of our lives too huh? Give me a break.
@logic39da What part of the word "IF" did you not understand in that sentence? Secondly, if a man (or woman) cannot honor the vows they took with the person they're supposed to love more than anyone else in life, how can they possibly be expected to honor any oath they take to protect, honor, and defend a piece of paper (the constitution). If you don't understand that, then it is you who needs to stop voting as you're the reason we have worthless leaders in high offices right now.
@thereprieve Clinton is a cheater that left us with a surplus. Bush never cheated and left us with 2 wars (like Jesus would've wanted), deeper debt, and deficits. What fairytale world do you live in? You sound like a child. The dedication some people have to their jobs is one of the main reasons they screw up their home life. Grow up. I judge the job someone does by... wait for it... THE JOB THAT THEY'RE DOING. Silly me for focusing on what we voted them in to office to do. Grow the hell up.
@logic39da - So, following your simple logic (about debt and deficits) to it's logical conclusion, you won't be voting for Obama then? In fact, Romney turned a 3 billion dollar deficit in Massachusetts into a 700 million dollar surplus in 2 short years. Not to mention, he didn't cheat on his wife.
@thereprieve #facepalm. Wow. YOU relate fidelity to job performance, genius, not me. Are you trying to argue that voting Obama out for doing a poor job is illogical? According to you, If Romney DID cheat, you wouldn't vote for him even if he did well for his state. That's not retarded to you? If I don't vote for Obama or do vote for Romney it be based on what's in front of me NOT what they do behind closed doors.
@logic39da You are the one who has made a big deal out of people being "out to get" Clinton for cheating on his wife. I was pointing out that, with Romney, you don't have to worry about your perceived witch hunts from congress.
I think you have a serious comprehension problem as you're reading into things that I'm not saying. And your inability to partake in a civil conversation only adds to that.
@thereprieve I can't be civil to people who are full of crap. I'm not reading into anything nor do I have a comprehension problem. YOU said fidelity is related to job performance, did you not? With the last 3 presidents and Romney, YOU proved that that makes no sense. YOU said Clinton's impeachment was solely about perjury yet repubs called on him to step down due to adultery and pulled a hail mary by stepping down themselves hoping he'd do the same. It was a tactic. Nothing pure about it. Bye
@thereprieve 1st Nice to know you make assumptions, Im an independent. 2nd Can you read? My comment is about intentions. However they "got" Clinton didnt matter hence them resigning to get him to resign FOR AN AFFAIR. 3rd You make a statement about this being solely about perjury then admit that they DID go after him for his affair? Get your bs straight and dont give me this protecting the American people crap...
@logic39da - So, the congress should have no stake in protecting the American people from criminals in the White House? Are you serious? You're just dancing around the fact that Clinton is a criminal, lied under oath multiple times, and was impeached for it.
Don't sit there and act all righteous as we both know if the shoe was on the other foot and Bush had perjured himself while cheating on his wife, you'd have been demanding his resignation, then moved to impeachment.
@thereprieve Again, can you read? Where did I say congress should not do whatever's a part of their job? I said, to present it as if their intentions were pure is complete bs. If Bush cheated I WOULDNT GIVE 2 SHITS! What part of that don't you understand? Bush, however, like most repubs, is a bible thumper. Jesus this Jesus that. Their infidelity gets a laser beam focus due to their blatant hypocrisy. If you can't keep your own house in order, shut the fuck up about others.
@logic39da - Oh, I'm sorry, maybe that wasn't Bill Clinton toting his bible into his Paula Jones hearings.. you know, the ones in which he LIED. Are you, at all, familiar with the fifth amendment? If so, do you understand how it protects you for perjuring yourself in both criminal and civil trials?
As you're mocking the 'bible thumpers' you hypocritically forget that if either party was living up to biblical principals, we'd not be having this discussion.
@thereprieve Yeah, Clinton holding a bible is equivalent to repubs constant attempts to force their religious beliefs on everyone else while doing the EXACT opposite of what they're trying to jam down our throats. Please, let us all live by biblical principals and stone people to death for damn near anything. --rolls eyes--
Forget policies. Forget gossip. What kind of name is Newt? Who calls their kid after some slimy, toxic aquatic critter? Strangely appropriate for a politician though - I guess it's only a matter of time before someone called Leech runs for president.
@ralph17p His name is Newton. As in Sir Isaac. I know, pffft. But, he is an alchemist of sorts, witness Latum's thesis: " 'To what extent has advanced globalisation aided social activism'". Here the reactionary drives the efforts of the industrious, yielding a perfect shitstorm. Why bother with the affairs of anyone who harvests hypocrisy from the media? The critic is as much the enemy as the object critiqued. How about a prescriptive? None forthcoming, I'm sure.
Good video! Santorum next! Gingrich is despicable, and Santorum is insane. How the fuck do either of these get votes? I hate to be one-sided on these issues, but it's hard not to be when almost every Republican candidate is actually a tool. It's fascinating/frustrating how politicians like Romney can offer you cake and stab you with the cake-cutter in the same sentence: "I support gay rights, but I've always opposed gay marriage".
It's not just in his personal life that he plays according to his own rules. While speaker, Gingrich had a record 84 ethics charges filed against him, and was eventually reprimanded and fined $300k by a 395-28 House vote, with even Republicans speaking against him. Many Republicans are starting to realise that he would be easy meat for Obama, particularly with rumours of even more affairs doing the rounds.
Perhaps he's polyamorous. I am naturally so, I can't do monogamy. Not that I am condoning his actions because I am always open with people that I can't so monogamy. I think that growing up Christian and trying to follow what he believes is right has made him a hypocrite. Kinda makes me feel more sorry for him than I should.
I don't know dude, Newt Gingrich is a scumbag, but I'm more wary of Santorum. He's the guy that thinks that if you get raped and get pregnant, you should just, you know... "make the best of a bad situation."
@TheBardlover108 Lots of republicans think stuff like that, the point is though that Satorum doesn't really stand a chance of being nominated, Gingrich does.
@MensRifleAssociation When I look at these candidates and then look at Obama, Obama isn't really that bad. Maybe he's just slow. I wouldn't mind giving Obama another 4 years just to let him clean up Bush's work. OR, we can let Ron Paul win.
Newt fascinates me. I think that he is probably the smartest person running on repub ticket based on purely IQ, but he is utterly full of shit. He has a way of spinning things with his condescending attitude, use of exact facts, and his word play that makes him seem right if you aren't very versed on whatever issue he is bullshitting you about at that moment. Many Americans only pay attention to politics every 4 yrs and this is why he is so successful.
you limeys are kinda cute.... too actually think that republican candidates with hypocritical views on the lives of their fellow americans would be anything less then "beyond reproach" is just sooooo english.
LatumWay i think your missing the point of the Republican preliminary since when you think about it its less about finding a "good leader" and all about finding a candidate that can win against Obama.
As such there private life is VERY important at this stage. If your candidate is carrying baggage in form of private scandals and such he will not have a chance outside the republican candidate selection (since everyone but ron paul is just as bad).
@LatumWay Well ya but thats his politics not stuff like being dishonest or lying. In a way he is the most respectable politician running for the presidency in the republican party.
That was a fine video. But I was hoping that you would have brought up how that piece of shit Gingrich has proposed that "poor children" should work as janitors in their own schools. That is the one thing, out of a long list of garbage that he has spewed, that I find MOST appalling. I've said this before. All the Presidential candidates range from idiot to incompetence. And I do think the republic is strong enough to survive a bad administration, but shit, this bunch is scary.
Always a pleasure for us to listen to you articulate - To have someone who has repeatedly cheated on his wives lecture gay people they are not worthy of making a life time commitment to care for and love another is rediculous -The man has no integrity
I'm just pissed that people actually seem to have hope in this guy...I'm even more pissed that the Republicans think that Romney, Gingrich, Paul, and Santourum might, number one, have a shot at winning against Obama, and two, might actually be "good" presidents, let alone decent human beings. None of them at all represent what America is or should be about. It depresses me to no end that people actually have faith in these people to make any sort of positive change for our country.
@fruitikay Three years of Obama proved that he is little to no better than the republican candidates. His status as a "good" president can also be into question.
US citizen here. The man is slime. The worst out of all of the Republican candidates. The Republican party .. the party of "family values" will support this man, while at the same time "bashing" President Obama for his lack of open religiosity. President Obama who clearly loves and treasures his family dearly. It doesn't make much sense. Then again, sense appears to be a worthless commodity in this coming election.
@Trips1103 I'd take that even further and say sense is not being equivocated remotely in the past 3 US elections. I Am honestly ashamed to even call Myself American.
I agree with you on the topic of private and professional/public life.
It is possible for a person to have entirely different personalities in social and private life.
For example Louis de Funès was a magnificent actor, but a tyrant at home and quite a douche to his friends. I do love his films, would never want to know him personally.
Same with politicians: i don't give a rats arse what he does privately, i care though what he does socially.
I'm not certain how you smell. Being a good skeptic and free thinker, I'll need to conduct my own investigation rather than just taking someone random internet person's say-so!
You're late with it but it's news to me. Thanks for making this & bringing it to the attention of those of us who knew nothing about it. Not to mention you nailed it. :)
I always enjoy your videos! Newt Gingrich is a jerk! If Newt is an example of "a decent person," we are indeed in trouble! Thanks for taking on this matter. How about some of the other "repugs" also? Tear into them! Please make more videos. Your videos are some of the best I watch. You are sharp! Cheers, mate!
Newt is probably the most intelligent person up for republican nomination, in fact he's one of the most brilliant men it politics period, and he understands his base perfectly. He doesn't respect them, he uses them, and he knows he doesn't have to answer for any factual or hypocritical errors. He almost manufactured the hyper-partisan political environment we suffer himself back in the 90s, and he knew it gave him more freedom to say and do whatever he wanted without paying any penalty.
He also lied in the debate when he said "We offered several of them (his friends) to ABC to prove it was false." his "office" had to retract that statement because he only offered his daughters to the media as evidence in his defense. I think the admission that he lied in a presidential debate is enough to disqualify him from the race and I'm appalled.
I love the videos - but please stop referring to the "Puppet of the Powerful" as the "Leader of the Free World" - I, live in a country considered free and I have never had the chance to vote in a single US federal election . . . I may be wrong - but isn't the idea of having the choice of who you want as your leader a pillar of freedom? We have to get rid of this paranoid, cold-war dialect of the past.
@LatumWay Because I live in Canada - which is supposedly part of the free world - I am a citizen of this so-called free world but I am not allowed a choice of who the fucking leader is - only the American portion of the free world is allowed to do that. I know that "leader of the free world" really means nothing at all - which is exactly my point. Just call him/her the president of the US, because that's all they are. They are leaders of nothing else. It's just annoying to hear those words.
@rictusgate "isn't the idea of having the choice of who you want as your leader a pillar of freedom?" - 1: Depends on your definition of freedom. 2: if freedom is to do what you want then you aren't free having a leader that is telling you what you can and can't do are you. Hardly a pillar of freedom.
I agree that some personal issues should be off the table, but when your personal behavior is an indication of psychopathic or at the very least narcissistic personality disorder... it's relevant. I wouldn't put up with a domestic abuser running this country, and I wouldn't like to see a psychopath in charge either. The guy doesn't understand how saying black people should demand paychecks not food stamps is fucking racist. NPD to the max! (My dad was the same way, and psychologically abuse us.)
I'm surprised you somewhat sided with Newt about personal lives being off limits. I think it's clear that when a presidential candidate is a known adulterer, that it raises questions about his character - something which I like to think most people find important when casting their vote. I also don't believe for one minute that, if Obama were to cheat on his wife during this debate season, the GOP candidates wouldn't be harping on it at every opportunity. In general, they're all pieces of shit.
@thekurtman31 I agree with the last sentence, 100%! The repugs seem to have a problem with 2 things - (1) the truth and (2) hypocrisy. And Newt is right in there with the rest of that rotten crowd.

@LatumWay My opinion is that the only reason people support Ron Paul is his foreign police and his stance on (many, not all considering your opinions) civil liberties. You can also say economic policy but that into question.
WadeGNSD 3 weeks ago
@LatumWay Unfortunately it's fair enough to say that he's our best /option/ on the Republican side. I can deal with him being pro-life because he's not going to sign anything into federal law regarding that (because of the whole omgconstitution bit) and I can deal with him having other flawed opinions because, again, his biggest stance is to make the federal government smaller. So, if he makes the government smaller, he won't be able to enforce his views on us. Moreover, he doesn't want to
tigergirl718 3 weeks ago
@LatumWay abolish /education/, he wants to abolish, as you said, the department of education. He wants to have that brought down to a state level instead of a federal level, and it may turn out to be more effective on a smaller scale. Again, I'm skeptical, but is he /really/ going to be able to abolish the department of education? No, he's not. So there's nothing to worry about there. More importantly, he wants to lower the deficit and lower our taxes, which is what we need for 4 years.

@LatumWay You stupid Brits should refrain from commenting about OUR Constitution. You lost that right in 1776. Those two statements are not mutually exclusive. He is anti-gay marriage. He just happens to think it should not be enforced federally.

@gijane2320 Well, he doesn't want a segregation of state and church, which is pretty fucking unconstitutional if you ask me.
faraoseth 4 weeks ago
@faraoseth That's not true. He believes very strongly in the separation of church and state. I don't know where you'd have gotten the idea that he wants any mixture of the two, but individual rights or freedoms would be the base. Our unalienable rights are not based on color, creed, gender or background. Liberty is for everyone.
gijane2320 4 weeks ago
@gijane2320 he thinks the federal constitution shouldn't overrule the state constitution. so if a state wanted to make it constitutional for a religion to be established they can. this used to be the case at the founding of our country.
slytherinspy1960 3 weeks ago
@slytherinspy1960 That's simply not true. He wants the federal government to get back to the constitution, which would keep it checked and balanced and unable to rule tyrannically over the states while the states govern themselves for the most part in respect to the constitution, hence the Supreme Court of Law. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;..." (1st Amendment) States must respect this as well.
gijane2320 3 weeks ago
@gijane2320 maybe it was some other libertarian that was making that argument then again i *think* he said that i'm not sure. i have looked it up though he did say he doesn't believe in separation of church and state....though he believes in freedom of religion and is against the establishment of religion...which is separation of church and state. he is kind of unclear on this issue. i can see the confusion.
slytherinspy1960 3 weeks ago
@slytherinspy1960 His argument here is that the courts under a growing and oppressive government have been using these words, which are not in the constitution, to restrict and silence religion on a ridiculous level. youtube.com/watch?v=NyfnHOPAhHo
gijane2320 3 weeks ago
@gijane2320 i humbly disagree. i think that many times christians want special privileges such as the ten commandments at court houses or the such. that is ridiculous. wanting it removed is not ridiculous. i don't think that religion is being restricted whatsoever. i think that is something to get people to think that those dangerous godless heathens are trying to take away your religion which again is ridiculous.
slytherinspy1960 3 weeks ago
@slytherinspy1960 I agree with you that there are people like Gingrich and FOXNEWS who are way melodramatic and that commandments at a courthouse shouldn't be a taxpayer endevour.
Being a lawyer, he knew full well that he had the privilege to plead the 5th amendment...
thereprieve 4 weeks ago
... and not perjur himself, or in other words, commit a crime. Or... he could have told the truth. In which case, it's not a crime, and not an impeachable offense. Again, Clinton wimmingly chose to commit the crime and subsequently rub it in the face(s) of the American public. For this, the congress , under the leadership of Newt Gingrich, did what was in the best interest of the American people, and attempt to remove a criminal from the presidency.
thereprieve 4 weeks ago
@thereprieve Alright, you got me. I stand corrected : )
Out of curiosity, what are you views on the rest of the points I made?
LatumWay 4 weeks ago
I haven't put my lot behind any candidate yet so that should not have been construed as a supporting statement about Newt Gingrich, only support of the facts. As I've made my opinion on gay marriage fairly well-known, and nothing you've said after that appears to be misleading in any way, then I see no need to correct you.
I will say that if any harm is done to marriage by gay couples wanting the privileges of it, it is only exascerbated by cheating on your wife... repeatedly.
thereprieve 4 weeks ago
@thereprieve Gingrich and other republicans did what was best for themselves. Please don't try to make it like their intentions were noble. Anything to go after Clinton would've been fine with them. Gingrich and Bob Livingston resigned due to their affairs coming out and they called on the president to resign due to his. If it was solely about him perjuring himself, why would they resign due to their affairs and why would they ask him to step down due to his?
logic39da 3 weeks ago
@logic39da Repeat for me again why Gingrich resigned? So, if it was because of an affair, then he did the right thing, which Clinton refused to do. If it was because of the allegations that were fully investigated by the IRS, what, exactly, were their findings?
It sure is nice to know that you'd prefer a criminal remain in the white house. Proving that the democrats are more about power than what's best for the people.
thereprieve 3 weeks ago
@thereprieve "So, if it was because of an affair, then he did the right thing, which Clinton refused to do." Regardless of party, infidelity is no reason for anyone to resign. It's a family matter. If you think it's more than that, please stop voting 'cause youre the reason we have the clowns we have in place. Youre more concerned about WHO someone is doing instead of the JOB theyre doing. Youre probably the same person that screams getting gov't out of our lives too huh? Give me a break.
logic39da 3 weeks ago
@logic39da What part of the word "IF" did you not understand in that sentence? Secondly, if a man (or woman) cannot honor the vows they took with the person they're supposed to love more than anyone else in life, how can they possibly be expected to honor any oath they take to protect, honor, and defend a piece of paper (the constitution). If you don't understand that, then it is you who needs to stop voting as you're the reason we have worthless leaders in high offices right now.
thereprieve 3 weeks ago
@thereprieve Clinton is a cheater that left us with a surplus. Bush never cheated and left us with 2 wars (like Jesus would've wanted), deeper debt, and deficits. What fairytale world do you live in? You sound like a child. The dedication some people have to their jobs is one of the main reasons they screw up their home life. Grow up. I judge the job someone does by... wait for it... THE JOB THAT THEY'RE DOING. Silly me for focusing on what we voted them in to office to do. Grow the hell up.
logic39da 3 weeks ago
@logic39da - So, following your simple logic (about debt and deficits) to it's logical conclusion, you won't be voting for Obama then? In fact, Romney turned a 3 billion dollar deficit in Massachusetts into a 700 million dollar surplus in 2 short years. Not to mention, he didn't cheat on his wife.
thereprieve 3 weeks ago
@thereprieve #facepalm. Wow. YOU relate fidelity to job performance, genius, not me. Are you trying to argue that voting Obama out for doing a poor job is illogical? According to you, If Romney DID cheat, you wouldn't vote for him even if he did well for his state. That's not retarded to you? If I don't vote for Obama or do vote for Romney it be based on what's in front of me NOT what they do behind closed doors.
logic39da 3 weeks ago
@logic39da You are the one who has made a big deal out of people being "out to get" Clinton for cheating on his wife. I was pointing out that, with Romney, you don't have to worry about your perceived witch hunts from congress.
I think you have a serious comprehension problem as you're reading into things that I'm not saying. And your inability to partake in a civil conversation only adds to that.
thereprieve 3 weeks ago
@thereprieve I can't be civil to people who are full of crap. I'm not reading into anything nor do I have a comprehension problem. YOU said fidelity is related to job performance, did you not? With the last 3 presidents and Romney, YOU proved that that makes no sense. YOU said Clinton's impeachment was solely about perjury yet repubs called on him to step down due to adultery and pulled a hail mary by stepping down themselves hoping he'd do the same. It was a tactic. Nothing pure about it. Bye
logic39da 3 weeks ago
@thereprieve 1st Nice to know you make assumptions, Im an independent. 2nd Can you read? My comment is about intentions. However they "got" Clinton didnt matter hence them resigning to get him to resign FOR AN AFFAIR. 3rd You make a statement about this being solely about perjury then admit that they DID go after him for his affair? Get your bs straight and dont give me this protecting the American people crap...
logic39da 3 weeks ago
@logic39da - So, the congress should have no stake in protecting the American people from criminals in the White House? Are you serious? You're just dancing around the fact that Clinton is a criminal, lied under oath multiple times, and was impeached for it.
Don't sit there and act all righteous as we both know if the shoe was on the other foot and Bush had perjured himself while cheating on his wife, you'd have been demanding his resignation, then moved to impeachment.
thereprieve 3 weeks ago
@thereprieve Again, can you read? Where did I say congress should not do whatever's a part of their job? I said, to present it as if their intentions were pure is complete bs. If Bush cheated I WOULDNT GIVE 2 SHITS! What part of that don't you understand? Bush, however, like most repubs, is a bible thumper. Jesus this Jesus that. Their infidelity gets a laser beam focus due to their blatant hypocrisy. If you can't keep your own house in order, shut the fuck up about others.
logic39da 3 weeks ago
@logic39da - Oh, I'm sorry, maybe that wasn't Bill Clinton toting his bible into his Paula Jones hearings.. you know, the ones in which he LIED. Are you, at all, familiar with the fifth amendment? If so, do you understand how it protects you for perjuring yourself in both criminal and civil trials?
As you're mocking the 'bible thumpers' you hypocritically forget that if either party was living up to biblical principals, we'd not be having this discussion.
thereprieve 3 weeks ago
@thereprieve Yeah, Clinton holding a bible is equivalent to repubs constant attempts to force their religious beliefs on everyone else while doing the EXACT opposite of what they're trying to jam down our throats.

I agree 100%, but what do you say to people who say that Bill Clinton's scandal had more to do with purgery than it did sex?
Ninjaculation 4 weeks ago
@Ninjaculation I would call those people republicans (little "r" intentional). Republicans are quite adept at hypocrisy!

@Ninjaculation That may be a very valid way to look at it. I'm not especially well-informed on Clinton's presidency.

@LatumWay It's something I'm a bit torn on. It doesn't change the fact that Gingrich is a hypocrite.
