  • Great, I fogot all my Yiddish my grandma thought me... it's just what I needed... :-)

  • Simular to german

  • Oh Ida, please make more videos!!!!! I'm sharing you on my facebook page!

    Janel in NJ

  • I want this video on my DX900 phone.

  • Thanks for this im so happy you made this video!!!!

  • I am on the odd part of Youtube once more.

  • I thought Yiddish was a form of pastry.

  • I've heard genegtekezoink on The Simpsons too....what does it mean?

  • title: ייִדיש פֿאַר דאַמיז

  • This video was faygeleh!

  • Is Yiddish a real functioning language?

  • @cpdleader12345 yea it is a mix of german and hebrew i believe

  • Cpdkeader12345

  • Mixing Hebrew and German, the end result was never going to sound pretty.

  • LOL

  • Dreck does mean dirt in german. Scheissdreck means excrement. In yiddish shmutz is usually used for dirt. Dreck is used exclusively for excrement. Superhartline.

  • @Yitzhak010 Thank you!

  • I recognize the background music, but don't remember the name. Can anyone help me?

  • This is... weird?

  • correct your definition of boychaka. the literal intpretation is darling or cute referring to the male gender only. For a female it would be meidela. You are the DAME EDNA of YIDDASHAH MOMMAS!

  • and anyway thats kinda funny cause my name is ida and my boyfriends family name is rosenberg it made me laugh :D

  • Comment removed

  • I couldn't understand what she was saying.

  • Make more of the clip on yeddish they are really good good luck

  • This is a Yiddish Dame Edna Everidge.

  • I am Dutch and I think that speaking Yiddish is like raping German and Dutch.

  • @AmersfoortTristan no sweety yiddisch born before than ur languages... it comes from the ancient hebrew (kinda 6000 yrs ago u know while ur ancient were stil raping monkeys and eating bananas naked) and from high german thats the ancient german of middle ages and from the slave languages of the countries where we lived.. and plus nobody asked u to speak yiddisch

  • @sweetzionist93 LOL Jiddish language is mixture of Slavic, German, Hebraic and some Greek... It is the youngest language on the planet - the same as "old hebraic". The oldest "TORAH" IS LENINGRAD CODEX, WRITTEN IN 11TH CENTURY AD! (and not BC). Also old JeRUSalem was Byzantium and new became Russia it self...

    Jews are parasites

  • @VendPrekmurec oy vey oy vey after this comment i should log out from utube and shoot myself... but i dont think ill do so cause i enjoy talking to shmucks like u :)

  • @sweetzionist93 Why to kill yourself... rather enjoy and discover who your ancestors really were... 1. of all read Sumerian Reptilian Genesis and then compare it to Biblical, Torahical Genesis...

  • Oy vey I'm schvitzing from laughing so much, I'm starting to feel verklempt. I got shpilkes in my genektazoink! LOL

  • Come one Ida, where is the rest of the alphabet? x

  • My great grandma used to say Koppen Drede or something like that.

  • @MrM2dude My great grandma died when I was pretty young. Before I got to hear her say any Yiddish words.

  • @Euterpe001 I didn't actually hear her say that. My dad told me that's what she would say.

  • IIIIII LoooooovE this lady! The reminds me of my nana.

  • You got any info on the words: pots, pey-tsadik, akhtsik-nayntsik, petsl, petsele, pischer and pischerel? Kleyne kinder kakn kleyne kipkelekh?

  • yess! I'm a happy feygaleh!

  • @Tzedaqyal Me too! Lol.

  • Wonderful! You are so alike my French teacher! Keep on your good work.

  • what does SHIKSE mean Ida?

  • @yeye060 That would be a woman of non-Jewish faith!!

  • @Zipster08 You remind me of my friend's Great Grandmother!!! Oh My Abraham!

Now I know was she was saying when she seen people she didn't like :]

Thank you for giving me nostalgia.

  • @Zipster08 Seriously?? I means something else in German. And we spell it "Schickse". It's a woman who is horribly overdressed and acts impropriate. Like she tries to be a lady but achieves only the very opposite. Language is amazing!

  • @Zipster08 Well... I'm german and we use Dreck in the same way :P

  • @Zipster08 BTW We use verklemmt, verkackt, verstubt and verkackt to!! =D

  • @Zipster08 LOL. And here in Bavaria a "Schikse" is a rude girl/woman...

  • @yeye060 a girl?

  • @yeye060 non Jewish woman

  • @yeye060

it means FILTH, and it is the most respectful least racist way to refer to a non-jewish woman

  • Drek-Crap!

  • lolololol excellent!

  • DREK!

  • I use to LOVE Cock-a-mameS in the cracker jack box.

  • I'm not Jewish but your so sub'd.

  • gimme about 6 of what he is taking

  • haha i love does yidish for me it seems nothing but nicely wierd german - and of course it is

  • ideleh, you are to me a blessing. keep it up!

  • Channelling my bubbe!

  • you sound a bit luxembourgish too ^^

  • Is the background music "Hava Nagila" by Andre Rieu?

  • So'n Quatsch - verklemmt: keine Lust auf Sex, verkackt: in die Hos' geschiss!!

  • Thank You, Ida. Drag Queen or not, yenta with too much make-up or not, you have captured the essence of Yiddisher humor. Boys and girls, when the King of the Universe delivers you and a mere madman like Hitler actually comes to get you, you get a particular taste of humor.

  • this is soooo fu&*(ing racicts! THE HOLOCAUST REALLY DID HAPPEN

  • Oy vey, they give you gelt for this dreck?

  • I lurve you Ida!!! Now I really do feel Jewish LOL, even linked this to my facebook

  • Great jewish accent, very funny.

  • Imagine how the world would look like if Jesus spoke Yiddish, not that strange Aramean...

  • du bist ein mann mit loch (1)

  • a gotship a turkalah. that was ba tamp my little boy chik boub ala. before this i was a little fur tum milt. a little far blun jit. chas ve sha lom that's em es. u got chutzpah mahfroin

  • Its funny how much the Dutch language has influence of Yiddish.

  • @patrick10001 you mean none? Then it's really funny.

  • @LMB222 heh?

  • @patrick10001 Yiddish was formed by Middle High German, not Dutch. Any similarities between Yiddish and Nederlands are because of a common root of the two.

  • @LMB222 I did not say that. I said Dutch has a lot of influence of Yiddish words

    -___-'

  • @patrick10001 And I said that you were wrong, dummy.

  • In Dutch drek/dreck means dirt with water or filthy stuff lol.

  • Its funny bubkes. bök is also goatshit in turky.

  • Hus du gezen in deine leiben?

  • I adored this! My old roommate in school used to teach me all these words :)

Funny how You Tube has chosen to run Mormon video links all over this page. "I am a Mormon Mother..." "...and I am Mormon" are 2 of them...LOLOL Guess it's all the same to a computer? Or the computer programmer? Very different to me....

  • English is full of Yiddish words, Yiddish is only a Geramic dialect, learn German and you would understand Yiddish (apart from some Yiddish slang), Then you learn two languages at once, double bubble!

  • This is an insult. It is such a stupid stereotype; the yiddish speaking yenta, so cute, so quant. It is like a jewish minstrel show. To be acceptable jews have to play this part?

  • Rip off mike myers much?

  • Oy-vey Ida/Zippee! :) Love the video. lol

I grew up in Chicago & worked in Skokie years ago that was promanently Jewish cliental. They had made this recipe for matzo-ball soup that was to die for. I since moved from the area & retired. But I wish I could find a great recipe for it. Please let me know if you know of one.

    Thanks, Linda@Godzie1 :)

  • What's a majewbanut?

  • You look like you just blew a clown. Or vice versa.

  • Ahahahah I realized that like the first six words all mean pretty much the same thing

  • Funny Funny, you look just like my bubbe! I wish you gezunt and glick!

  • @thejeter5770 you wish you were as good a Jew as Ida

  • Thank you ! You're wonderful : informative, entertaining, and without any vulgarity whatsover! We'd love (and need) some more...

  • oma yettah cool

  • @justicenow999 Yeah. You could say that. Or you could say that this Ida lady is actually a meshugena fagolah schmo. Some may even call "her" a meshugena schmuck.

  • Meshuggah- I love that band! Haha. but this is awesome!

  • haha so similiar to german, sooo cool.

    yiddish: farkakte german= verkackte

  • haha so similiar to german, sooo cool

  • It's interesting how she/he explains "verklemmt" (or "verklempt") because in German this is used for as an adjetive to decribe people who are prude. You know like people who blush when you say penis or something.

  • please more!

  • Hey this goy digs yiddish! Very funny!

  • Zipster, Zipster, Zipster—er, Ida—you never fail to make me laugh to the point that I feel all "veshtupt" (Sorry about the spelling, can't see the annotations on my iPod.) You are the best YouTuber I have ever watched. Your pearls of wisdom and situations you come into contact with are so random, it makes me wonder what you'll do next. Thank you for being the real you and for giving YouTube a little more happiness. KEEP ROCKIN'! ;)

  • Thanks for the kind words!

  • Sure! You deserve it ;)

  • Happy Hanukkah to you, Ida!

  • @MrLucky27319 Kindly allow an old man to laugh with you. Pearls, they are. I think you're spelling of 'vershupt' (remember it's also a verb) is english, you don't have what we have in spelling. I wrote before, or back, I can't tell from these slipping and sliding up and down. Thank you, DLWunz

  • Wonderful!! and I LOVE the music:)

  • verklempt is a German word

  • First of all: Zipster, you are great. I LOVE IDA!!!

Second: There is a German adjective "verklemmt", used to describe a person who is uptight, (sexually) repressed. There is also a colloquial adjective/verb "verkackt" meaning sth. is messed up. I'm not into Linguistics and I don't know which language rubbed off on the other, but it's intriguing to see the connection and similarities.

Third: Zipster, I love how you say "Dreck". I think I'll use that word more often now. :-))

    Cheers!

  • I'm sure you already know from various other responses, Yiddish is related to German and Hebrew.

  • That is because Yiddish is a combination of middle high German, Hebrew and a few other languages thrown in.

  • i was a little skeptical of this at first, what with the man being poorly dressed as an old woman and all. But as a Linguistics major, this is absolutely fascinating.

  • THANKS FOR THIS YOU PUTZ!

  • haah check out his face a 2:36
