Ok but what about Godfather 2 which also features both Pacino and De Niro? Still in my opinion Jimmy Conway was played 10/10 performance by De Niro. I know its a clash of the Titans but De Niro prevails because of Goodfellas in my opinion.
I know you probably don't care but, when the trunk lid closes the camera followed it down and then swhished up to Ray Liottas face. Just a thought for next time. Maybe you could do the bit in the bar. A prequel to this scene, lol.
Hey, I thought this was excellent. Really. The guy playing Pesci just needed more passion. I don't know about him sounding like a 12 year old though. Heck, Joe Pesci sounds like a 12 year old.A crazy 12 year old, but a 12 year old nonetheless. You guys did a great job, you should make another one.Great job on the music when the guy slammed the hood, it was perfect.
That seems to be the general consensus with this video. To be fair though, anyone trying to imitate an Oscar-winning performance like Pesci's is going to come up short. It was hard enough to direct the scene, let alone act it out (I played Ray Liotta).
Yeah, same comment about the acting. But I gotta say you really nailed the shots nicely. And I thought the lighting was pretty close too...Do you shoot any original stuff?
Thanks for the comments! Yeah, I do shoot original stuff as well, you can check my other videos to see. Take a look at "Another Life," I would say it's probably the closest thing to an actual short film.
I actually pulled the sounds directly from the film. I don't have them anymore but if you find a way to rip them from a Goodfellas DVD it will be just the same. Good luck!
While the timing was down, and you captured some of the smaller nuances of the opening (ie- the red haze after the gunshots) the acting is very forced. You really should have used a dolly on the shots that required it. The scene in the car, while lit well, could have used some rocking of the car as well as lights passing to convey movement. Besides that and some other things, good work.
Actually, there was a rotating florescent light on the left side of the car. It's probably just hard to see because of Youtube's compression requirements.
I agree that our acting wasn't great, but that's why people like Deniro and Pesci get paid so much- because they can act well. We did what we could with what we had, and you're right when you say that Scorsese just has a certain style that is very hard to emulate. Thanks for the honest feedback!
This is actually better than most. Scorsese hardly ever translates well over to the video format. I have seen quite a handful of vid's trying to do his style, and to see someone do a shot by shot remake really drives home the point on how hard of a filmmaker he is to emulate, much less imitate.
I did all of that in Adobe After Effects. I played the actual film credits while I was making it in order to time it up perfectly. The traffic sounds are actually from the movie.
it would have been better if "tommy" stabbed "billy bats" with a little more feeling lol
it was alright
