  • I first heard "Manch Vegas" when I was working at Center of NH. The coffee shop (Rachel's?) had it on the side of his van. I don't know about the underground betting part, but I think it was originally about how there was nothing to do, but now has grown in popularity with the Arena and the Ball Park bringing A-list acts (Aerosmith, Bob Dylan). I wished they'd used the term during the West Wing, as Bartlet was from Manchester.

  • The Union Leader is evil...but I heard ManchVegas nonstop growing up there....it was an inside joke about how the state's largest city had nothing to do.

  • Iv'e lived in Manchester all my life and Iv'e never heard it be called Manch Vegas. Not a bad video though.

  • The nickname "Manchvegas" was popularized by Union Leader Columnist and author John Clayton. It is probably derived from all the underground betting that was always an open secret in town.

  • Oh. I wouldnt know because I dont read the Union Leader I like the Concord Monitor lol.

  • i grew up there and hardly referred to it called by anything other than that.

  • me 2 but i have heard of it
