Your perception is right on. This video was originally produced in soft focus and with muted colors to match the mood of the song. Also, the frame rate of the original laserdisc is low. With those things in mind, the bit rate of the uploaded copy has to be really low before the quality degradation is noticeable. I've been debating whether or not to post an HQ version of Irresistible for the same reason. The HQ viewing option is much more noticeable on videos with fast movements and sharp focus.
Interesting...I never noticed the colors and frames were that detailed. I also didn't know how the colors in the video were made to match the mood of the video.
The only sharp focus that I can find in this video are some, but not all, of the face scenes and the quick shot of the cracked wall. The brightest colors seem to be Cathy's red hair and the red dress. Cathy talks in another video about this ballad meaning more to her than some of her other songs. I'm sure that is why certain cinematic effects where used in the production of this video. BTW, a couple of the other videos (Irresistible, Everybody Move) use a haze filter to achieve a certain look.
I like this song, for my concept is so elegant, and from 0:17 to 1:00... remember me that I need to take a plane to my original country. I need that.

Please post a HQ version of Irresistable. That is quite possibly my favourite song and video that Cathy did. :)
