  • Too good, just too good. MBV are utterly untouchable.

  • My religion is shoegaze and MBV are gods! Period.

  • i said hello to them at a ulu gig by...i can't remember, maybe shamen in their jesus loves amerika phase?...and doing my best not to blurt out something embarrassing from being next to bilinda.

i seem to remember if failed...

  • Awesome. Remember listening to this on my Sony Pebble years ago on a flight to NYC. My boy, aged just 10, asked for a listen cos he could hear it sat next to me. Blew his mind, he was converted there and then. Spread the word people, although the yoof of today just don't, or won't. get it. Innit.

  • ...and here we go with religion in a totally not religious video. Again.

  • EVEN BETTER THAN JESUS CHRIST!

  • @PirtTorre don't bring christianity anywhere near this band.

  • @caspapin funny guy. Why is it wrong that a christian find peace and/or enjoy MBV as well? You know what: don't bring your ignorant hate anywhere near this band, you're corrupting it.

  • Seven minutes of pure bliss kids

  • Utter stewdent toss.... nah.... fucking immensely marvellous, pisses all over any other shoegazer malarkey and ting by abotut 1.6 km

  • Pure AVANT-GARDE

    Not for itself

With Beauty and Meaning still ruling

  • Nothing describes this Song. Truely a masterpiece. Godlike.

  • probably sounds strange but the riff from this song reminds me of the stone roses

  • @edh144 It´s actually the other way round :-)

  • You can really hear the 80s/ 90s rap influence that kevin was talking about in the beat of this song.

  • LOL @ new bands

  • 1991!! they were so ahead of their time

  • just EPIC. it just keeps hold of you like a tractor beam!!

  • a truly epic song!!

  • Just to correct previous posts, there is no difference between the glider ep 12" and the loveless versions of "soon" except the very beginning (the quiet, tinny drum machine sound) overlaps the end of those wierd sounds at the end of "what you want" on the loveless version. The glider version starts clean. Length/loops/bars etc. are all the identical. The glider 7" version is shorter, just two verses (2nd and 4th) and shorter length loop at the end. (Sorry, I went nuts a few years back.)

  • i must be in sonic heaven

  • Quintessential MBV!

  • my final an defined startup to noise world!!! great

  • I think the Glide version just repeats a few bars. I could listen to this for 10 hours straight anyway.

  • @dbacko I could listen to it for 10 years straight.

  • does anyone know the difference between the Glider version of Soon and the Loveless version?

  • They begin differently and the Glider version has a coda in the end with kind of a different song.

  • Gorgeous, sexy, beautiful music, I love it!!.

  • Loveless might be the best album ever. This song is one of my favorites.

  • OYEH BILINDAAAAAAAAA

  • Actually it was Kevin Sheilds, not Belinda that sang lead, but Belinda stole the show.

  • Bilinda, you are my spiritual love monkey person.

  • lmfao!

  • @Outpost206 BLINDA BUTCHER IS SO GORGEOUS I LOVE HER

  • I love the way talented Bilinda Butcher moves in this clip of an awesome soundscape song!

    :p

  • 良。」

  • If there's a way to end it on a great note, it's "Soon". I thought the singer was beautiful and sexy in an innocent way. The way she moves her hips was just an expression, not as a sexy pose. A great way to end My Bloody Valentine's career. Bravo!

  • you do know that they've reunited, don't you?

  • lol

  • xxoxoxoxoxox

  • funny that this video was even on MTV at some point, shortened or otherwise.

  • *bilinda*

  • Look at Belinda shakin' that ass! An arty chick who can really dance. ;-P

  • Sorry that you're so disembodied. It's beautiful in large part because she is a sexy female.

  • I'm sorry that sex is a horrible and dirty thing in your world. That must suck.

  • It's not. I've never said or implied that, some things should be left innocent however.

    fin

  • bwahaha... you're whole point was to be condescending. now you're trying to take the high road? Go beat up a disabled person or something. I'm sure that would make a person like you feel better. jerk.

  • This could possibly be the best song ever written. Once those big chords come in, it's just incredible.

  • I totally i agree I'm not so keen on the chorus but those 9th shape chords with the wammy bar are just orgasmic. LOVE IT!!!!

  • i didn't realise until i saw them live, but their riffs are not just riffs

  • Err, what?

  • Too jazzy for what? I heard "Soon" described as "the vaguest piece of music I've every heard" but never as "jazzy".

  • OK, in my defence, when I wrote that I was:

    (a) a bit drunk.

    (b) fresh from watching the final episode of UK sitcom 'The Inbetweeners', which utilises that phrase in a particularly humorous way.

  • God that show pisses me off. Whenever I watch it I have a keen urge to stick a Peep Show DVD on instead.

  • so perfect for a skate session....i love this shit XD

  • I hate it when long videos get shortened. :( they always sound wrong because something is missing. Thank you for the extended version.

  • this song is so, cant find word for it. never gets old and is so much summer for me

  • Used to dance to this at Syndrome and Totally Wired in London. 7 minutes wasn´t enough....

  • Video suits the song perfectly, which was pretty rare in the "alternative" era.

  • A 7 minute video is a marathon. I however managed to "suffer" through the whole thing. Guess that's what good sound does...

  • Bilinda Butcher... just wow.

  • 'NO'both are stunning..

  • Great track.

'Isn't Anything' was a better album than 'Loveless'.

  • When this album came out I never heard of it. Was listening to Nirvana, Pearl Jam and the rest of the MTV force fed "alternative" music. I later discovered this album around 97 or so and it's still one of my favorites. I don't own one album from any of the "Seattle" bands anymore.

  • Not even from Iggy Pop & The Stooges?

  • i still own one nirvana record

you gotta admid that cobain was sometiems genius, but my bloody valentine does kick nirvana's ass !

  • ahh i cant stop listening to this song! it's that good..

  • quite possibly the greatest song ever.

  • ...dufflesj15, I think I might agree with you on that one. Deffo the best album ever!!

  • Whoa, there was a full length version? Shit, all I have on the PC is the 3-min shredded version.

Wait... you just used cheap video-editing software to drag the original footage to 6 mins.

Eh, whatever, My Bloody Valentine and Loveless still rule.

  • i just used windows movie maker to repeat the vid twice and put the proper version of the song over it.

  • fantastic timing and editing - zen minimalist mix you created makes the song a once in a life time event ...

    thank you

  • i didn't do any of that - that's the actual video for the song!

  • lol

  • good one hothamid, haha!!!

  • well - thanks for posting it anyways - the three min version does not do justice to this song

  • @mlammin: The whole album LOVELESS - on which "Soon" is the last track - is a timeless masterpiece - in the 90s i used to get up up with the CD in the morning and even listened to it while showering, maybe i should try again !

  • @mastersan6 Get the album, this is the full length version.

  • This was groundbreaking music in 1992....it still sounds great. "Loveless" is a classic album---buy it or borrow it!

  • Record company + very expensive album to produce that took too long to make + record company head stressing because he's losing money + the album flops commercially + "Quick we gotta sign a band that will make us money!" = Oasis.

Every Oasis fan in the world needs to thank MBV because without them, Oasis would never have been signed.

  • Ha ha! I hate to ruin a good story, but it's not quite that simple. First of all, there's a lot of dispute over how much MBV and Creation actually spent on the album. Also, both Kevin and Alan McGee aren't too quick dispel any reported myths/lies. Furthermore, Creation made a deal with Sony before Oasis came along (or became famous).

  • mbv is my holy bible...

  • I know this band has a drummer, but that sounds alot like a drum machine. Seems like all the drummer's doing in the video is playing a tamborine.

  • Colm actually played on only 3 tracks of the album (he had been through a lot of personal problems then), and Kevin later confirmed it was indeed a drum machine in this song.

  • he recorded the sounds used in the drum machine

  • I seriously cannot stop listening to this song. I'm under its spell.

  • I hear ya. I haven't grown tired of Loveless after more than 15 yrs of heavy rotation. I seriously can listen to this every single day and just keep coming back for more. It's just magical. Truly one of the greatest albums ever.

  • There is a gorillaz song that did that to me. "Tomorrow comes today" kinda has the whole put you under it's spell sound to it as well, especially when it's late at night and you are tired.

  • this is the god of dance tracks. not a better trance in history.

  • man i used to listen to this non stop....

  • nice job.

  • my brother just told me about this band. Thanks for uploading this so I had something to base my opinion off of. Wonderful song (:

  • Whoa, thanks for uploading this! It truly is a waste of a brilliant track to shorten it the way they did.
