  • Takes me wayback, simply briliant Whitney, when everything was pure.... Thank you for charing this absolutely wonderful=).

  • 1986

  • HOLY SHIIIIIIT!!! Back then I don't even think Whitney was human. That IS the BEST LIVE FEMALE VOCAL PERFORMANCE I EVER HEARD. I need this on mp3.

  • oh my GOD ... this song touch so deeply ... i got so emotinal ... she is perfet the greatest voice in the world

  • Only Whitney could sing like this!

  • oh this is my favourite concert from TGLOA tour, she sounds angelic

  • That some real sangin

  • My favorite part is 6:07-8:27. A bit reminiscent of Billie Holliday.

  • went you take the time to save you love for the one you real love it will last for ever

  • wow what a performance she gave a little jazzy thing

  • OMG This is fantastic...I've never heard anything better

  • what date was this on? 1988 of what month and what date?

  • 1986 sometime!

  • That fantasy only Denice Williams and Minnie could do that. That is so there style. Anyone who says Whitney was not influenced by Neicy and Minnie Ripperton is foolish!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THanks for adding this version to the list...I've heard many others, but this ONE really shows her vocal comparison to Aretha Franklin...because if you didn't know; SHE did it first. (As well as ALL The MAn That I Need). FOOD for thought.

    Anyway, your the BEST thanks!

  • Whitney combination of Cissy, Dionne, Aretha, Denice Williams, and I hear some Minnie Ripperton!!!!!!!

  • I wish kmaur21 & genius3495 would do us all a favor and simply exchange PERSONAL e-mail addresses so the rest of us DON'T have to be subjected to these two NO-TALENTS arguing back & forth about a woman who COULDN'T CARE LESS about EITHER of them!!!!!

  • They are just practicing their debating skills. Just leave them alone.

  • she really is a gift from above, beautiful. youve done your fans proud with this one xx

  • why do people care about all this so tuff... so what if mariah can hit whistle better than whitney ... Neither one is better than the other... Some people love whitney and some people love mariah.. you guys act like their is suppose to be only one great singer... stop doing this just except them for their talent and go on about yo day cause no body cares about all that other bull ...they are both excellent singers...

  • MC can not do anything better than Nippy. Anything MC can do Nippy can better and thats truth. We talking about Whitney a woman who mastered the voice since like ten years old.

  • Whitney truly in prime possessed a 5 octave vocal range. Her vocals are spectacular in so complex in head and superhead voice.

  • I totally agree with you!!!!

  • 1985, she was classified as a Spinto Soprano because her voice was lighter but powerful. Now, she is a Dramatic Mezzo-Soprano because her voice got deeper and darker because of drugs and age. She is classifies as Soprano still cuz of the E5 and F5 she can still hit.

  • Whitne was coloratura soprano. The runs she does in head and superhead voice are all coloratura soprano runs. Whitney sings properly in head and superhead the same way an opera singer would. Mariah head voice is disconnected to her superhead and whistle, coloratura has very little to do with notes, but tessiura and approach to hitting notes. Whitney hit a couple of F5 in this clip!

  • Plus she hits some superhead and whistle notes in a My Name is Not Susan in 1991, singing as high or higher than MC.

  • She knowingly hit those whistles in My name is not susan 1991 live, and I am sure there are more performances in IYBT era where she sings in whistle.

  • You honestly think whistle is that hard to control. Please singing in high head voice and superhead voice is way way harder MC can't even master that. Thats why she never goes past A5 in head cause she can't really. Whitney mastered her whole instrument from the onset. Dionne was saying Nippy had a 5 octave range from the onset.

  • yes i do and it is ask any singer singing in whistle( me being one ) it is hard the way MC does it hers is sooo full you never know if its falsetto or whistle and take the beginning of migrate for example or any of her whistle like whitney is the master of head voice mariah is the master of whistle its that simple

  • I sing in whistle too and it is not hard. Whitney hitting notes in head and superhead is extremely hard. Whitney mastered every register. Listen to these bird like notes. It is very very high superhead, whistle.

  • first of all id like to correct you she qwent up to a D6 without using whistle higher than whitney .. its not hard squeaking out a whistle but CONTROLLING it is hard and doin the kind of runs and techniques mariah does with it is sometimes almost impossible for most ppl.. it is high but unintentional ...uncontrolled and they were all done wen she was sick....

  • She still hit those notes my point. Christina whistle is crappy you guys count her notes. Whitney has went up to E6 and F6 in full head higher than Mariah and Whitney head and superhead is way way way way stronger than Mariah Christina, etc. Whitney still hit the C7 Revelation is Here, and D7/Eb7 in 1987 so they count in her range. The A6 and Bb6 Brunei definitely counts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whitney hit a G6 in connected head. Plus many SAMFLY performances she goes from connected head, to superhead/whistle a Minnie Ripperton Denice Williams technique. Mariah never does that. She never goes from connected head to whistle. Whitney can!

  • the G6 turned out to be a C#6 n she does not do that in SAMLFY u make that up she barely jumps like 2 notes its barely even a jump...

  • Wrong she does hit a G6 in connected head that was not a C6 like some of you claim in IWDWS. Plus that note SAMFLY in the vocal range file is a F6# and she ends I Am Changing with a F6 Calfornia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No she does not jump two notes, it is a totally different register in Fantasy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and you at the end.

  • True soprano!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Your forgeting Nippy is opera trained. Pavorritti even acknowledged the depth of her talent.

  • She had the most passionate soprano in the 1980's.

  • She could do anything with her soprano back in these days!

  • no she did not possess 5 octaves , her lowest note is somewhere around A2 in I love you porgy and her highest is a G6 she hit live in i wanna dance with somebody so she has around 4 octaves wich is alot but her voice is not all about range, the power, the diction, the phrasing, the vocal genius, it continues , she truly was one of the best ion her prime

  • Whitney has close to 5 octaves if not 5 in prime. I have heard her go lower than A2 Genius and she has went higher than G6 Brunei is A6/BB6 Plus she hit like a C7 in Spain Revelation is Here and she hit like a D7/Eb7 before in 1987 Control, tribute to Janet Jackson. Whitney has a lot of range she does not use all the time to save her voice.

  • the IWDWS perf in brunei was not intentional and all those chirps she does are unintentional and mostly if not always when shes sick so those im not counting if you want to count them be my guest

  • Those noyes should be counted in her range and sick or not she did them live note after note. She has went up and down the scale live so she has at least 4.5 octaves.

  • they should not, they were not controlled intentional notes. and plus the reason she does them is the phlegm in her throat when shes sick, a whistke note is produced when you constrict the throat the phlegm constricted her throat and anytime she wanted to hit head voice she either went falsetto or whistle. and the going up and down the scale was from C6 to i think F6 maybe G so it proves my theory more than yours.stop trying to make her seem better my expanding her range. she doesnt need it

  • I agree with you genius but Whistle is falsetto and when she was unable to use head and superhead she would use whistle voice. But it should count in her range and she does have a whistle voice. Nippy has hit a G6# in head alone and that is extremely high for head voice. She easily in prime and probably now can sing in falsetto whistle.

  • yes whistle is falsetto and if it is an intentional note produced knowingly and at any time you want to then count it but almost all her chirps were when she was sick so out of hundreds of performances about 10 where she did chirps if you want to count it count it but it should not be counted. she has hit a G#6 and it is exceptionally high in connected head voice . i disagree on that last statement . i think you are too much of a whitney fan and want to make her perfect in your mind

  • Again Whitney live has shown her range between G2- Eb7 all live. She may have went lower than G2 in some runs and inflections. Her whistles that I counted in her range where all done purposely. Because Whitney is a more polished singer than MC, she prefers to sing like the opera singers using head and superhead. Any singer who can sing G6# effortlessly in full head can easily access whistle easily.

  • again SHE WAS SICK n dont say she didnt want to use it if she had it she would have used it and plz if u sing in whistle u would have realised how hard it is to perfect it like MC i am done debating with you you arte too much of a dillusuinal whitney fan i can only argue with a sane person ive tried to stay mature but ur just too much!!!!

  • Whitney has hit F#6 in Brunei in MNINS. She has hit E6 in Revalation is Here in the early 1990s. Spinto Soprano, though.

  • i admit that she even hit a G#6 in IWDWS a note higher than an F#5 so im not hating but dont say her whistle notes were intentional and she has 5 octaves!!!! thats too much .

  • Whitney to me was a higher soprano than Christina and MC in her prime. Whitney tessuira was very very squeaky and high. Also she was extremely comfortable hitting notes in 5th and 6 octave like water in head and superhead voice. Her chest voice alone spans to a B5 about so she was definitely dramatic coloratura in prime.

  • i didnt deny that all i deny is the whistle other than that shes impeccable...

  • Whitney is way way more polished soprano than any of her contemporaries Cissy made sure to that. Whitney received extensive vocal training and opera training from any early age. The woman still can sing in her operatic head voice hoarse. Nippy knows all the vocal tricks using head, superhead, and even whistle.

  • Nippy notes all she count cause they were live and very much controlled and she did purposely. Her range is about from g2- d7or eb7. But there were might have been lower runs and inflections she has done live. I counting that Janet Control note so she very much had about 4.5 to 5 octaves in prime.

  • this is incredible

  • oOoooOoOH....So Seductive & oh so fricken phenomenal performance from Nippy like always.

No doubt Whitney Elizabeth Houston is the eighth wonder:)

  • I love her notes in head and superhead voice amazing and beautiful!

  • omg!!

  • Oh my god, i know she´s far to sing this way. But thank god someone recorded it. Oh myyyy!!! INCREDIBLE!!!

  • whoa!!crazy stuff!!!when you think she's at the highest, she just keeps goin!wow!

  • she sang higher back then!

  • She was the highest soprano classified back then. She could sing as high as she wanted!

  • wow. just wow. LOVE this. she was in glorious voice this night - so she obviously just knew she could KILL it

  • Also her notes are so precise and technical!

  • Whitney in prime can teach all these female singers lessons with register transitions. Her superhead, and head so flawless. She is very multi-octave in this clip, so effortless!

  • She hit F5 in full voice

  • Whitney in prime stay also doing this high chirps in super head voice. It hard to tell how high she singing but you have to count those notes too when she sings the for you................... oop......... in the 80's and early 90's SAMFLY. She also plays with her octaves there.

  • she killed this song, she took it to the jazziest level... Oh she played around it CutiKaCi whered you get this audio track from?Where is it from, what concert...?

  • i kno i love 6:06 till the end when she just plays with it!!! a friend sent this me and its from japan 1986
