severnjeff makes a good point the refs let the players play and win the game the refs dident win the game for the players the whole game had a whole bunch of fouls that never were called
I guess the refs made it up to spurs fans when they didn't call the foul to give the mavs had on carmelo anthony in game 3 of the 2nd round of the 2009 playoffs.
How the fuck did he travel are you blind? Do you know what a travel is? A travel is 3 steps you are allowed 2 steps he was fouled Joey Crawford = Biased fucking ref asshole bully.
Look at how many steps he takes before he puts the ball on the floor... 3. and thats not Joey crawford u idiot thats Derek Fisher. no ur stuff b4 u talk trash dumbass
why would you wanna insult me? and then even delete your comment? crawford is THE REF, my God, how LOW are you?????!!!!! crawford was never on the lakers? well i bet he fuckin wasn´t since he´s THE REF!!!!!!!!! REF REF REF!!!!!!!!!! the ref was biased because of what was going on wit duncan that got him suspended earlier. here he takes revenge. please, don´t ignore your lowness. first think, than comment. crawford fisher brains
First, i deleted it cuz i realized that u were talking about the ref and not the player. And, that has nothing to do with it, he made the right call. Brent Barry traveled b4 getting fouled so it was a good no call
Rofl the nba barely calls travels, and in situations like that they choke in calls. This was clearly a travel then a foul but cmon. Fish landed on his freaken head, how is this not a foul?
The NBA officially says it was a foul. And whether or not you think it was in the act of shooting, remember the NBA has a super lenient continuation policy, officially or not. The only thing more lenient is their traveling policy. Barry got away with lifting and dropping his pivot (right) foot before dribbling, but a play like this would be called a foul maybe 10 times before it's called a travel.
Travel, he shuffled his feet before the ball left his hand. And he didn't get hit in the act of shooting anyway. So even if the lakers were in the penalty, he would have had only two freethrows not three
Look at the rules, it wasn't a travel. Ball was out of his hand by the time he switched his pivot foot. Ball doesn't have to hit the ground first, just has to hit the ground.
what about that non call on the goal tend the possesion before this play when kobe threw up that dumbass shot, duncan grabs the rebound and hits parker on the fast break and lamar odom just knocks him in the third row
DO YOU really think the ref will notice those smalls steps? IF your an ref u wont see the traveling and its freaking hard to notice the traveling because theres coming freakking walrus on the offensive player, AND ITS EASY WATCH FROM REPLAYS witch thing were first
Fisher still came down on him. Although Barry was not in the act of shooting it was an under two minute foul so Barry should have gone to the line with two shots. The problem is that no ref would have called that! who is going to give the spurs the ballgame. 95% free throw shooter! you do the math spurs win this game and catch up 2-2. Its a whole new ballgame then although Manu is not full healed.
all u spurs fans must shut up, everyone thinks this call cost the spurs the series, but if you watched the game, all night long the refs were calling everything on the lakers and nothing on the spurs, and that has nothing to do with my biased opinion.
look closely he was looking for the contact not the shot, afterall, brent travelled first before the contact, so a good no call... watch closely you guys

I never was disputing whether Popovich was a good coach or not, btw he's probably second of the All Time Greats behind Red Auerbach.. He's just old.. Any in reply to your first comment, 'better than you anway' how do you know I'm not Kobe or Ray Allen or Jesus...
Anway, what I meant was there were at least two or three better options than Barry.
Barry was their hottest player at the moment. Nobody was really making shots like him so they had to go to him. He made a mistake and didn't create the foul he said it himself. I don't understand why pple still talking about that play. There were so many no calls in that game.
You kidding me? Barry was hitting. I guess you werent watching the game. How can you call Popavich old when the some of the best coaches are old. What... now the coaches need to be young too.
the spurs just fucking lost the game. you cant have the entirety of that game decided by foul shots especially for a wack ass foul like that. he just chucked the ball, he didnt even try to make it in.
I've been a Spurs fan since I was seven years old. I've watched every since game they have ever played. I know a thing or two about basketball. I know enough to know that it was a foul, not a travel.
though Im a Lakers fan, to be totally honest, i thought that was a travel a split second before Fisher made contact with Barry, making that a travel. Then again, refs never call any travels, and with the officiating that entire game, that was a non call. Besides, when have you ever seen a ref call a foul with less than five seconds in the game?
and of course, theres always the Lakers-Celtics conspiracy....oooohhhh :)
I though Popavich and Duncan Handled the situation with alot of class. The Spurs fans semm to be whining way too much considering how many bad calls went in favor of the Spurs
No Foul! No Travel! Barry faked out Fisher, Barry then deicided to run right into Fisher (which he should have stayed to the left), Fisher lands, Barry Shoots with no hand in his face and misses.
So what if that's a foul? Who care. Spurs got away with it last time, I remember that game 3 of the 2007 nba final, On the game's final play, LeBron James missed a 3-pointer in the 2007 nba final (which he and I contested as a foul on Bruce Bowen) but no call were made.
The league office on Wednesday reviewed the final play of the San Antonio Spurs' 93-91 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals and acknowledged that a two-shot foul should have been called on Derek Fisher for impeding Brent Barry.
you morons obviously dont know what an nba travel is.
i suggest you watch the game at 15 seconds when kobe shuffles his feet 3 times prior to fishers apparent shot hitting the rim (which obviously should have never happened if crawford had called Kobe of THE BLATANT TRAVEL)
League office has agreed that the lakers win is counterfeit. Crawford handed the lakers the series. congrats
that's true. kb, bron and dwade get away with too many travel calls. Stern allows this as they can only put on their moves 9thus increasing viewership) if they get an extra step in somewhere
Thats very classy mairj023 spurs lost Lakers win barry travels fishers shot hits rim shot clock should reset but didnt Lakers win 93-91 Dont hate on the Lakers and ask for them to die grow up and be mature
lol there shouldnt be any controversy over this call spurs were beneficiary of a lot of calls especially duncan and derek fishers shot before touched the rim but refs missed tat call and gave lakers only 2 seconds instead of new clock.. besides lakers outplayed them it was evident from the start wen they led 22-8
it's over, even duncan, popovich said that it was good non call, you won't call a travel or foul in that kind of play in dying seconds just to save one team..let the players decide the outcome of the game, not a nasty whistle decide the game's outcome.
bad officiating through entire game is the bottom line. couple of calls went the spurs way, that could of changed the game. call that went the lakers way, could've changed the game.
dude....i swear....it really seemed as if noone noticed....it was a clear cut and blatant travel....and dude is Rite...they let players get away with 2 and a half stepes, but like he said..Lifting that pivot fot beforethe dribble is gonna draw a whistle everytime....that is the one consistent travelling call
I'm glad someone else saw this because ESPN analysts refuse to discuss it. For the people saying they don't call travels in the NBA, lifting the pivot foot before putting the ball down is the only travel consistently called.
This message is for the spurs fans: That game was in San Antonio by the way, spurs should have won by 10 at least. I can't bleive that they are crying over one ref call weither it is a foul or no... get over it, you all know it was not.
no SPURS fan is crying. Only Lakers fans are. You won the game, what's there to cry about. You deserved to win that game, no doubt about it. So why bash the refs? on the travel, goaltend, and that Kobe didnt attempt a foul shot? Who gives a $hit. Lakers won. i just dont get it.
they're angry because of the way the officials tried their best to give the SPURS that game....im a fan of neither team..but the officiating was terrible
Yes, looks like he lifted his pivot foot. But we all know EVERYONE in the NBA pretty much travel, and the refs just dont call a whole lot of traveling calls. That's just a FACT. But when you get HIT in the head/face, whether it's accidental/intentional or whatever, that is a FOUL !!!
he didn't travel. if they called a foul however it should have been a 2 shot foul because he is clearly trying to dribble around Fish he only attempted a shot because he felt the contact and thought he'd get a foul. in any case the whole game was officiated poorly. the NBA has the absolute worse refs.
common guys, fouls like that are not and shouldnt be called at the end of the game. Also, tim duncan travelled early in tha game and dunked it and it wasnt called. Even the commentators siad he travelled.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that the goaltend called on Odom wasn't one. It was a clean block. For all the crying about the last play, ironically, it's the Spurs that benefited from the refs the most last night.
Manu's "three pointer," Fisher's "air ball," and Odom's "goaltend." Not to mention Duncan's blatant travel early in the game. Refs sucked both ways tonight.
so you dont want any REFS during an NBA game? Refs are part of the game, whether ya like it or not. If the refs call every little foul, everyone would foul out in the NBA. If refs call every travelling, every team would have 40 turnovers a game. Stop whinin.
Lakers deserved to win that game, but to blame the refs on every little thing is GARBAGE. Spurs never mentioned officiating at the end of the game as the reason why they lost the game, whereas Lakers fan are all over the refs. WTF.
its not a foul he didnt shoot as the guy came down on him he shot after the guy put his hands up with a " my bad look ". TRAVEL. and im not a lakers fan, im from Texas and thats obvious.
To nrp0450: It IS a travel. It doesn't matter if the ball was "still touching his hand when he 2nd stepped" or "in the act of dribbling." blabla blah....
NBA's OFFICIAL RULES SAY (Section XIV-f) that "the ball must be out of the player's hand before the pivot foot is raised off the floor" in order for the 2nd step to be a legal move.
Plus, Fisher's shot clearly hit the rim before going out of bounds off of Horry's leg, so the shot clock should have been reset... making this foul argument null and void!!! Overall, the Spurs were simply outplayed in this game. There is no way you can allow a team to outrebound you on the offensive glass by such a large margin, give up 20+ second chance points, and expect to win.
Doesn't matter. All I know is Brent Barry played himself by not finishing the play. He tries to pump and then dribble around Fish. Actually turned out to be a great defensive play.
Yes, it was a travel but the refs are not going to call that because it's not as obvious to see in full speed as it is in slow motion and due to the time remaining in the game. However, the refs were horrible in this game because Duncan obviously traveled when he took 4+ steps for his fast break dunk in the 1st half. The Spurs were right, the refs are not going to call that foul at the end of the game and Barry did not sell it enough, especially after taking a dribble after the contact.
It was a travel and a foul. That makes the end result right. If they had called a foul everyone would be screaming about the travel that happened first. The officiating was flat out random all night for both teams. It was annoying to watch.
No way that's a travel. He was putting the ball on the floor when he moved his right foot. Yes, the ball was still touching his hand, but he was in the act of dribbling, so it couldn't be a travel.
it was a travel... barry did move his feet first before he dribbled. but i think the ref did not want to put the game in the whistle's control so he just let the players decide the game. so no more whining spurs and laker fans. ayt!
lakers are going 2 be champions n thier nothing spurs can do about it yur next celtics hell no yur role shut yur mouths take all yur boos and stick it up yur san antonio sucks candy asses
and yeah it was a foul, but it was a travel first, and fisher's shot hit the rim at the other end so it all evens out in the end in any case. they shouldn't have had the ball in that situation to begin with, they should have been down four and so it wouldn't have mattered regardless.
it wasn't a travel. it's ridiculous to even bring that up. EVERY player does that, if they called that every possession would be a travel. And if you really want to see a travel, look at Kobe with 15 seconds left, now THAT is a travel.
Brent Barry and Pop' both stated it was a good no-call. I thought that was classy of them both. In the end, the reason the Spurs lost was not exactly because the Lakers played better. The reason that lost has the initials MG.
GOOD NO CALL!!! Lakers could have won the first half by at least 12-14 points but the refs kept the spurs in game with some BS calls. Sorry but the LAKERS won that game, NOT the refs!!
First of all, it was travelling. And it's not the first instance of blatant travelling, witness Duncan's insane 4 steps to the basket earlier in the game. Secondly, officials seldom call fouls in the last second of a game like this. All in all, I just don't see the rig.
Barry traveled. He switched his pivot foot before he put the ball on the ground. And the foul would have been a 2 shot foul, not a 3 shot foul as Barry put the ball on the floor.
His pivot foot stayed down, no travel

lol there shouldnt be any controversy over this call spurs were beneficiary of a lot of calls especially duncan and derek fishers shot before touched the rim but refs missed tat call and gave lakers only 2 seconds instead of new clock.. besides lakers outplayed them it was evident from the start wen they led 22-8
Jefizit 3 years ago
it's over, even duncan, popovich said that it was good non call, you won't call a travel or foul in that kind of play in dying seconds just to save one team..let the players decide the outcome of the game, not a nasty whistle decide the game's outcome.
fyrrophytons 3 years ago
bad officiating through entire game is the bottom line. couple of calls went the spurs way, that could of changed the game. call that went the lakers way, could've changed the game.
baconisyummy1 3 years ago
dude....i swear....it really seemed as if noone noticed....it was a clear cut and blatant travel....and dude is Rite...they let players get away with 2 and a half stepes, but like he said..Lifting that pivot fot beforethe dribble is gonna draw a whistle everytime....that is the one consistent travelling call
villainakavicci 3 years ago
I'm glad someone else saw this because ESPN analysts refuse to discuss it. For the people saying they don't call travels in the NBA, lifting the pivot foot before putting the ball down is the only travel consistently called.

This message is for the spurs fans: That game was in San Antonio by the way, spurs should have won by 10 at least. I can't bleive that they are crying over one ref call weither it is a foul or no... get over it, you all know it was not.
skhalil1976 3 years ago
no SPURS fan is crying. Only Lakers fans are. You won the game, what's there to cry about. You deserved to win that game, no doubt about it. So why bash the refs? on the travel, goaltend, and that Kobe didnt attempt a foul shot? Who gives a $hit. Lakers won. i just dont get it.
Slick3200 3 years ago
they're angry because of the way the officials tried their best to give the SPURS that game....im a fan of neither team..but the officiating was terrible
villainakavicci 3 years ago
Yes, looks like he lifted his pivot foot. But we all know EVERYONE in the NBA pretty much travel, and the refs just dont call a whole lot of traveling calls. That's just a FACT. But when you get HIT in the head/face, whether it's accidental/intentional or whatever, that is a FOUL !!!
Slick3200 3 years ago
he travelled before the contact...are you blind..fish was in the air when he travelled
villainakavicci 3 years ago
he didn't travel. if they called a foul however it should have been a 2 shot foul because he is clearly trying to dribble around Fish he only attempted a shot because he felt the contact and thought he'd get a foul. in any case the whole game was officiated poorly. the NBA has the absolute worse refs.
orangesoda24 3 years ago
orangesoda,
he didn't travel? since when are you allowed to have two pivot feet?
lakeshow499 3 years ago
common guys, fouls like that are not and shouldnt be called at the end of the game. Also, tim duncan travelled early in tha game and dunked it and it wasnt called. Even the commentators siad he travelled.
blahblah234blah 3 years ago
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that the goaltend called on Odom wasn't one. It was a clean block. For all the crying about the last play, ironically, it's the Spurs that benefited from the refs the most last night.
Smileyfacedkiller 3 years ago
Manu's "three pointer," Fisher's "air ball," and Odom's "goaltend." Not to mention Duncan's blatant travel early in the game. Refs sucked both ways tonight.
SgtCU2 3 years ago
Thank You! As usual, the refs SUCKED!
golakers73 3 years ago
so you dont want any REFS during an NBA game? Refs are part of the game, whether ya like it or not. If the refs call every little foul, everyone would foul out in the NBA. If refs call every travelling, every team would have 40 turnovers a game. Stop whinin.
Lakers deserved to win that game, but to blame the refs on every little thing is GARBAGE. Spurs never mentioned officiating at the end of the game as the reason why they lost the game, whereas Lakers fan are all over the refs. WTF.
Slick3200 3 years ago
It wasn't a foul, and know it wasn't a travel at all. But if barry would of up for that 3 then it would of been a foul..
357r 3 years ago
that was a travel and it was a great no-call. the only people bitching about this are the spurs fans. get over it losers.
youtstar212 3 years ago
it was a travel before the foul. Lakers win the next game and finish off the series. lakers all the way

gmiz4shizdiz 3 years ago
if the foul would have been called we wouldnt be talking about a travel. hes the best free throw shooter on the spurs. Joey Crawfords an idiot
steventko03 3 years ago
To nrp0450: It IS a travel. It doesn't matter if the ball was "still touching his hand when he 2nd stepped" or "in the act of dribbling." blabla blah....
NBA's OFFICIAL RULES SAY (Section XIV-f) that "the ball must be out of the player's hand before the pivot foot is raised off the floor" in order for the 2nd step to be a legal move.
EightFlew0ver 3 years ago
So every jumpshot is a travel??? There's not a player in the league that releases the ball before jumping.
SWeggemann 3 years ago
Plus, Fisher's shot clearly hit the rim before going out of bounds off of Horry's leg, so the shot clock should have been reset... making this foul argument null and void!!! Overall, the Spurs were simply outplayed in this game. There is no way you can allow a team to outrebound you on the offensive glass by such a large margin, give up 20+ second chance points, and expect to win.
don6dada 3 years ago
Doesn't matter. All I know is Brent Barry played himself by not finishing the play. He tries to pump and then dribble around Fish. Actually turned out to be a great defensive play.
bizzygreene 3 years ago
Yes, it was a travel but the refs are not going to call that because it's not as obvious to see in full speed as it is in slow motion and due to the time remaining in the game. However, the refs were horrible in this game because Duncan obviously traveled when he took 4+ steps for his fast break dunk in the 1st half. The Spurs were right, the refs are not going to call that foul at the end of the game and Barry did not sell it enough, especially after taking a dribble after the contact.
don6dada 3 years ago
It was a travel and a foul. That makes the end result right. If they had called a foul everyone would be screaming about the travel that happened first. The officiating was flat out random all night for both teams. It was annoying to watch.

travel
aliensexfiend 3 years ago
there is no "in the act" of dribbling. you can't move both feet before putting the ball on the floor. that's traveling. period.
yseidy 3 years ago
Spurs Fan- Tough game to lose but I expect you guys will be ready for game 5 but IMHO, Lakers will win. Best of Luck.
fijiboy68 3 years ago
No way that's a travel. He was putting the ball on the floor when he moved his right foot. Yes, the ball was still touching his hand, but he was in the act of dribbling, so it couldn't be a travel.
nrp0450 3 years ago
its a travel in slow motion but its also da mn hard to catch that as a ref. you cant move both feet before dribbling.
jamisont1 3 years ago
it was a travel... barry did move his feet first before he dribbled. but i think the ref did not want to put the game in the whistle's control so he just let the players decide the game. so no more whining spurs and laker fans. ayt!

CLEAR TRAVEL period.
see anyone could do that.
and yeah it was a foul, but it was a travel first, and fisher's shot hit the rim at the other end so it all evens out in the end in any case. they shouldn't have had the ball in that situation to begin with, they should have been down four and so it wouldn't have mattered regardless.
1withagun 3 years ago
it wasn't a travel. it's ridiculous to even bring that up.

First of all, it was travelling. And it's not the first instance of blatant travelling, witness Duncan's insane 4 steps to the basket earlier in the game. Secondly, officials seldom call fouls in the last second of a game like this. All in all, I just don't see the rig.
masterdeviance1985 3 years ago 2
Barry traveled. He switched his pivot foot before he put the ball on the ground. And the foul would have been a 2 shot foul, not a 3 shot foul as Barry put the ball on the floor.
