As for Tony Jay (RIP) I would have to say that they could maybe use the excuse that they had for Bob, that the web changed his voice somehow or his body is ravaged by a web infection that causes degeneration of his body. If they had to pick another actor, my vote would be for Ron Pearlman, Crispin Freeman or Tim Curry.
I spotted this series of reviews while I was watching my ReBoot DVDs (Which are now available from Shout! Factory btw, I only got mine four months ago so they should still be there) and I have to say, I agree with every single word you're saying.
I think another concept that they could really tap into is the idea of the user and having more of an input. Especially if they want to explore the online gaming aspect, where NPCs are constantly interacting with users. I would love to see a sprite...
i Agree with 99% of your video, i do think online games would be a great addition, id personally like to see the show come around to its roots again and have fun in game cubes knocking off your favorite movies and TV shows for what made the series. I am also from toronto and a film maker and i also believe thAT the developers and writers should isolate themselves from the network, Networks here dont produce the best shows, only the most likely for profit and YTV will not reboot Reboot
Great video btw. I agree on your take on reboot revival. I like the idea of Megabyte evolving into a supervirus. Your right, there is untapped potential for today's show. Technology has grown since the original and there's more pop culture references to add to the show. GAR...networks...why? The show would be epic again if tried to keep the essence of the original.
extremely well done review :) As it works out, a DVD series did come out now (too bad there are mixed reviews since the transfer from VHS to DVD was not perfect, sound pitch is off, but image quality is intact). I still plan to buy it anyways to support the series. Hope those movies come out!
ok so I just got through watching the entire series and was PAH-HIIIIIISSED off at the cliffhanger of My Two Bobs, and so apparently its been like 2-3 years already since they said the new movies were comin out, sooooo i got a question; WHERE.. IN THE NET.. ARE THEY?!?!?!? imean i saw the teaser from Rainmaker but Seriously! How long are they gonna keep us waiting?!!?
Actually, I heard that the series IS being re-relased again on June 28, 2011. I am definitely going to buy it, I use to watch this show when I was young and miss it so much. I agree that they could do a lot more with the plot than what they have. Never have I seen the movies but I did see the first three seasons of the show a long, long time ago and a brief part of the four season probably about 9 or 10 years ago.
when i heard "revival" i was hoping for the revival of the series for tv because of the show's potential, but the thought of 3 movies still gives me a hard-on

In My two bobs while I was glad to get Megabyte back I didn't like how they brought him back as Matrix, Phong, Dot in particular were too cold organising a wedding while Bob was in a coma fighting for his life. Things were moving way to fast!!

As for the direction, I'm giving 2 thumbs up for the hacker idea. After all the MainFramers have been through with a system crash and a near-miss total net wipe, having a User (which may or may not be seen as some sort of deity to them) come in and stir up sh*t would seem like God himself had forsaken them. Never saw season 4 ... I don't think. Cartoon network brought it back in '99. Wiki says only the first 3 seasons were show. 4 ends with a cliff hanger? Well, that sucks the revival is now canceld. Still plan on picking up the complete series on March 1st 2011.
Well the way I saw it is they have alot more to deal with than what they are planning. We could go on the tangent of the comic they are writing but that is pretty much fan fiction. We all have our own ideas of what happened. Im not saying its bad but there is one thing they left out that is kinda important. i dont think that we'll like the new 3 movies coming out.. its been too long.. the voice actors are older and/or dead, and i think that if they did anything more they'd just be falling into the "movie 2" syndrome.. where it really didnt have to be made, but they did and now the movie has a big black smear across it..
I would love to see a virus that can infect games and take them over it would be really cool to see a virus that can controll the User. As you said like a hacker but this said virus can control the user and attack systems with them.

You know, I've been watching this show (on my really outdated and fuzzy VHS tapes from when they aired) for years. And honestly? I'm 20. Maybe it sounds a bit obsessive or crazy to some but that's 4/5 of my life that I've been watching this show. And I actually still consider it fondly. This show is so memorable, I still pull out my tapes every once in a while. It's worth more than just a revisitation.
While unique, the original designs were made to be simplistic, given limited technology of its original airtime. Blunty, todays graphical standard says "ugly." Rather than a re-release; Reworking the designs is a good idea. The color scheme was fine, as was the core idea, but they need to be more intricate to catch attention. While I agree content > appearance, it simply isn't the mainstream belief, and companies need to follow the mainstream.
I have been waiting for somthing for a long time for the continuation of this show I want to know what happends next I'm still waiting for it looking online until the day it comes back. but until that day it is like a void of nothingness and emptyness of the noncompletion to the story so many things you can do with is. so this goes to all the reboot fans we must fight on until the day it comes back and I pray when it does they do not ruin the great show that was created.
Gary Chalk said that there as a problem with DVD releases. "The thing is that Reboot is owned by 3 (Yes 3!!!) seperate Companies, and until they all come together we won't get a dvd Boxset". At least thats what was said. I hope that they do make a sequel series this was one of the most best series that was ever produced.
you are right it does have so much potential yet unused personally id love to hear your idea for a reboot season mine is that megabyte get fused with the user that created him and or in some other way upgrades him into kinda like his puppet and as the fight progresses megabyte is then able to bust through into our world the world of the usersand bob must stop him before he can take over so what ya think
haha the "i will talk to anyone about anything" guy is totally on the UC Davis campus. anyway, that was actually pretty well put (though I have no idea how you put all those crazy images in). i really do think they should somehow gain rights to all the seasons of reboot and release a huge dvd set of all of it. but, alas, it seems like it'll never happen. which stinks, because that's what we want more than anything, rather than unfamiliar, crappy sequels....
Ok not doubtful but hard just because so much time has passed but I would love to see them again :) This show rocked, seriously. I found the matrix arc to be boring until he finally found mainframe (thank goodness the network was smart not to prolong this series because it would have gotten way too boring). But Reboot is the show where if you stick around long enough, it gets better and something awesome will happen if you're willing to wait for it :)
Honestly, It's rather doubtful the show can and will kick off. I mean, yeah, a DECADE since it last aired...I mean fans will have grown older and moved on to other things..plus it'll probably be focused on the fans, and other such things..it'll be really hard since so much time has passed since the days of reboot..although they're airing it on tv again..channel 90 In Canada, BC where I am :) on the matrix saga but this makes me want to watch it all over again :)
Next 3 years? Awesome I loved the show but the voice actor for megabyte passed away several years ago..man he did an AMAZING job as megabyte :) Seriously, it would be hard to replace that voice..
@DriedGooshies tell me about it Megabyte was just all sorts of kick ass and the smooth suave yet threatening and evil voice just gave a X10 bonus to everything.
Though I guess they could pull it off if they did that Terabyte evolution thing. It would be a good excuse to give him a new voice but for god's sake I hope they find someone who can give us the same evil feel.

I think that the comic should bring the orignal plotline of the last movie 2 a close then who knows. I kinda want it to end on a good note and not go on forever and get crappy. Release the series on DVD and then have the film trilogy seperate from the series (obviously retaining the premise)
reboot was a killer show for sure. I just got done watching the entire series on youtube myself. I wasteched it back in the days of toonami on cartoon network. I saw the teaser trailer and im pretty confident in this movie but at the same time if what you are saying about the plot for the movie is true it might be a downer. I think they could do so much more with it like idk instead of having the viruses fighting against megabyte why not have the viruses team up and attack the super computer

They released a teaser trailer for the movie trilogy a few weeks ago, if you haven't seen it, you should check it out. It's only a tiny bit but I got extremely excited when I saw it lol
reboot was awesome. i believe if it came back as a series it would be a much larger show then before. as you said back then not many people even owned pcs now everyone loves tech. and a tech based series like reboot will turn alot more heads. adding mmo cubes and hackers would be awesome. but you need to find a network willing to take a risk.
Yes! I absolutely agree that they need to release the DVDs. I have really really crappy versions of the fourth season/movies that I burned on to CDRs, and since the DVDs are unavailable I've been able to catch old eps online... but anything to help facilitate the new stuff coming out.
i was a reeboot fan when i was a kid, i never saw the movies but then the show became very sporadic by season 3, kids shows were constantly being side tracked in place of sports which have alsways bored me so i lost track and lost interest, i think it's time i watched it all agina, now just to find it first.
I can honestly hope that if Reboot gets its revival, it's *not* based off of any fan made comic.
I read some of the one that was available online, and though an interesting concept - meh, you know? Plus, it just really bothers me that Bob could be that forgiving of Dot after she ditched him based on appearances in the fourth movie (the one thing that royally ticked me off about that entire movie. That move totally ruined Dot for me).

Your ideas for the show you mentioned at the end are ingenious! I'm would seriously recommend you take these ideas to them (the people resurrecting the show i mean) and see what they say because your ideas are really solid and have a lot of potential. Its funny cause for awhile i totally forgot about Reboot until just recently and found this video
awesome idea for the 3rd movie....remember one episode from season one where this warrior from the net comes to mainframe looking for Fong because he himself was one of the those warriors? I forget what they are called but the guy was kickass....not only introduce him back to mainframe but also a whole army of those guys!

Interesting. Reboot, I think. Needs a revival big time. It was a well done show once you got into it. It was crazy. But, for the masses. There's plenty of people, especially new kids who do not know what Reboot is. I would introduce it for a whole new generation. But for the fans, I guess it does deserve a sequal. But it'll be a decade when it does happen, and its still a sequal to a show from the 90's. Its a lot to think about.
I made artwork, hoping to work on one of those pitches, (not the one choses) but by the time I came on the scene, all the other groups had given up. This was a very unfair way to create a fan-made comic if you ask me. Many of the other pitches had much better character development if they just did some minor changing. But as I said, by the time I got there, they had all given up hope and so my artwork went completely unnoticed. Sigh.

Also, it was said in past show by the very on megabyte that Code Breaker and Virus had a very unpleasant history . To me , this would be a good opportunity to unravel those mystery and to conclude the sequel.
Finally , like you said , I like the playing game stuff and the having to fight and indestructible user that would always come. It is very similar to the new challenge that we have to encounter and the difficulty that we live.
The last season where very good also, more close to the individual and the struggle that we all live in our life. like finding someone important to you , deception,making new friend. What I do fear is that they make the new series to populist so that it lose its originality.

I love ReBoot. I grew up watching it as a kid. I watched all three seasons and then discovered the fourth on YouTube. Daemon Rising was way to short, man. DAEMON KICKED ASS. *ahem* As far as the ReBoot Revival goes, I JUST WANT MORE REBOOT. I'll take it in any form, I don't care! JUST GIMME THE REBOOT. (Heh, addict much?)
I love it, I watched this show as a kid, and I never got the chance to see all of it, although I just watched the entire series on youtube and I just fell in love with it all over again. I think every one of those ideas are amazing, I never would've thought of a second user or an MMO!

I REALLY wish the series would be released on dvd with the 2 tv movies released as the final 4th season of the show. Season 3 and 4 were so well thought out, except for the soap operah of my two Bobs. If they do make movies again, which i hope they do, id like to see them pick up where the series left off, maybe a short time later with flash backs to what happened inbetween. A War with Megabyte sounds good, but like how it was when they fought the Web sort of action.
Yeah now that I think about it My Two Bobs couldn't have been more soap oprahy unless someone got amnesia. But really I liked the plot of that movie. I fliped out when I saw the ending. If Mega's wants pay back for a lose he planned out he well I don't know seems really more self centered. I'd be happy if the three new movies where just a big long fight between Megabyte and Bob. Yeah, it's a shame Tony Jay died. But if Rainmaker Entertainment wants a replacement for Megavyte, well call me crazy but in my opinion, Hugo Weaving is the guy to go to for Megabyte.
I live in the UK, and have all 4 seasons of Reboot on dvd! Sounds like a lie, but I am telling the truth! I'm also trying to get more people into the show as much as I am, in hopes that others will love it too and bring it back to British television through demand (as slim as that chance is, but still).
P.S Love the videos! You raise a lot of good/interesting points, I think the Zeroes2Heroes webcomic is actually really good. I belive there is another one on the way.
my mom and dad record the show when i was born and i am now a huge fan. i have every season on dvd inculeing the movie. im so glad they will make more movies. i love reboot and i am telling my friends about it to. i am 14 and hope to get the yoger people intested again. I like the fact i was born on the year reboot came out.
I was born in 1990 so I watched the series when it began in 1994 but I did not get the whole concept of story plots because I was a kid but now that i'm 18 almost 19 I get the whole show now and how great it is. USA has no show like this all canadian Eh?
When i was 4 and started to watch the show on the videos i havemy dad started to explain things to me i think its thanks to him and to reboot that at the age of 7 i have to iq of 130 and now i am 14 have the iq of 149. Its all thanks to reboot. now my dad is teaching me hytorscience now and it is all thanks to reboot
i never seen the movies, but the orgenal show yea it used to kick my ass when i watched it, by now that comp would have been been in the trash so i think they should back up our cast and put into a new comp where megabyte feeds off a shitty operating system (cough vista cough) then becomes a huge mega virus that muliplys and ganes strength when faces antie viuris stuff (dies and comes back strong and in more numbers)
ReBoot was an awesome show, but I think they should focus on another system other than Mainfame. Season 3 showed us different systems and they were awesome.
That's a great idea! Would be nice if the spin off occasionaly allowed the mainframe cast to make a guest appearance, like how in Stargate Atlantis we see SG-1's cast members from time to time. Or maybe just a few characters can cross over?
I think Matrix and ArdAlla (however you spell it) should keep traveling via the games..since Mainfame has two Enzos now. I didn't watch "My Two Bob's", and i think thats a good thing. I've started to watch the ReBoot episodes on here....brings back memories. God bless Tony Jay--one of the best voice actors ever!!
Me too! Odd that they haven't been able to match the quality of the first CGI show in any way (Writing, comedy, characters, plot, effects) since Reboot...a show from 1994!!! Its 2008 now! Budgets are higher and computers a a million times more powerful!
I didn't know that the movies were being made for DVD only. I was all excited about going to the theater and seeing them on the big screen (in a LOTR-like fashion), because I can easily cough up $30 (factoring in the recession and inflation) to see three movies, but coughing up $60-$90 for 3 DVDs is way past my budget, even for something this fantabulous. I hope they change their minds and put at least the first movie on the big screen (Disney-style).
I've been reading the comics. Well... the comic. I thought it was kind of a cop out how Megabyte died right away. :P The online comic reader thing is kind of lame. They need to release it as a CBR file or something. Actually, that's exactly what I did the day it came out. I ripped every page and uploaded it to a torrent site as a comic book archive. xP
After reading the new comic, I'm super excited about a continuation.

I agree with your statements, and I actually didn't find much flaws in the 'Arrival' pitch until you pointed them out. Nonetheless, I still don't mind the pitch. I'm sure that many fans just want closure at the very LEAST! Atleast, that's what I want for the series.
Great video. Rainmaker has to release a boxset of the entire series, get it back on Cartoon Network, and do everything they can to get people back (or bring new fans) into ReBoot. The trilogy should hit theaters, and from there, if all goes well, the show should continue.
I really enjoyed this 3-part ReBoot review. It was funny, but also brought up great points. I very much agree with everything you said in Part 3, and I am also fearful of fans working on the pitch for the new trilogy. Fan fiction is lame, and I can't help but feel that Rainmaker is only allowing this to happen because they are too lazy to write the trilogy themselves. I mean, they aren't even doing anything to rekindle ReBoot's popularity... they are relying on ReBootRevival.

I liked listening to your thoughts on future development, and it is truly a massive undertaking. After 7 years, this show can go anywhere with infinite possibilities. I hope that they are using a few of the original producers and writers, as I am worried of what will come from a production studio that has been doing children's films (Arthur and Barbie) and the CGI for the Stargate franchise. Now, I am beginning to feel that I would rather leave the series at the "My Two Bobs" cliffhanger,
rather than having the films terminated during a narrative that may not live up to the original. Basically, I'd rather have the good cliffhanger to occasionally reminisce and lay in bed with the occasional visit of nostalgia than wanting the forget the developments this new project may bring (remember that Super Mario Bros. Movie?).
I liked your reasoning with the future of the plot. I agree it is sort of getting into a cyclical thing, which would work if they wanted to do a new season, but yeah for a movie they definitely would need an original plot.
But yeah the company doing this now is nuts... There have been less popular shows that received full DVD releases, blows my mind that I can't go out and buy this show. All Rainmaker does now are crappy straight to DVD barbie things
i agree. its kind of ironic to me actually that they're doing lots of straight to dvd barbie movies when in the past they battled ABC and various other networks to include less campy, juvenile themes.
And seriously, fucking Beast Wars all 3 seasons are on DVD. And available on Amazon.
Now, last time I checked they were produced by the same company. WTF? And technically Universal has the rights until next year.
I feel so let down by the people behind releasing this show and those who showed it here in the United Kingdom! Basically, we got Reboot season 1 and some of season 2, but the episodes where Bob disappeared were not shown, it was litterally, one day we had Bob, then suddenly Enzo is the Guardian, then he is Matrix and he never made it back to Mainframe and we never found out what happened, or about the movies. I want them all on dvd as is... also some new movies, but the series & originals 1st!!
Oh I know all about the legal rights issue, I didn't mention it in my review because I didn't want to bore you guys, and more so because I think Rainmaker is insane...They should have sucked it up years ago and bought back the rights from whoever has them! And thanks...I guess I had a slip of the tongue with the "Terabyte" thing! But a "Trilobite" virus would be cool too! Thanks, I love trivia like that!
The last thing I heard, the home video rights to the first and second seasons were/are tied up with the company that produced the first VHS tapes - Polygram, a company that was sold to Seagram in 1998. Seagram handed Polygram over to Universal, but some of their film library is actually controlled by MGM. I don't know which company holds the rights now, but I know that that's why Rainmaker can't just up and release the show on DVD.
All three parts were well made and entertaining to watch - excellent presentation! My hopes for the show to continue has been rekindled.
Since you asked, I agree with most of your comments. You were generous in your comment in Part 2 about "Two Bobs". Dot did not stay "true to her roots". I believe the writers did a poor job with Dot's character. An altruistic Dot would have stayed loyal to damaged Bob, or at least make her realize her mistake on her own, rather than reveal it to her.

I can see you may have a major point! But, I have a different view of what Dot did! On the one hand, I acknowledge that it was strange and shocking! However, I rolled with it as she had been torn about the choice and sought out advice...and that was kind of the entire movie's plot. So without that conflict..."My Two Bobs" would have been about...well...nothing!
General plot could have been maintained. Have Dot realize her mistake on her own, say at the wedding when Gitch-Bob shows up. She turned him down! Remember, this was the one she almost died with several times. What hardship did she live through with the new Bob?
Remember, Glitch-bob could have been dying, while Dot and crew were doing what, planning a wedding? Who was with Glitch-Bob on his death bed?
This by the way, is the only negative criticism I have about the show.
personally My Two Bobs is the ONLY ReBoot (Movie/Episode) I don't like. Dot is annoying and not in character. I'm sorry. And i figured that the other(seasons 1-2 looking) Bob was fake. But then again, I do watch a lot of TV and I am familiar with many plot devices.
Dot basically spends half the damn episode crying, feeling sorry for herself and being obnoxiously indecisive. Not interested.
I wanted to slap her.
ANYWAY i really hope the revival works out. Keepin' my fingers crossed.
I agree Dot's actions in "My Two Bobs" was really bad, especiaslly her line about when she sees glitch-Bob itreminds her of all the bad times, yet she didn't mind it when she kissed him at the end of season 3 and Matrix should make her remember bad things too like losing Enzo. The real Bob had been through more with her anyway. It was creepy how she acted like a carefree bride without acknowledging the real Bob's supposed death.
I know what you mean! It bothers me too! I guess I accepted that the "My Two Bobs" Movie was a take on the Soap Oprah, and that kind of thing is necessary for that kind of plot to unfold.... But devil's advocate here... was it so weird that she was happy until a newer (albeit less shiny) version of Bob showed up???

As for Tony Jay (RIP) I would have to say that they could maybe use the excuse that they had for Bob, that the web changed his voice somehow or his body is ravaged by a web infection that causes degeneration of his body. If they had to pick another actor, my vote would be for Ron Pearlman, Crispin Freeman or Tim Curry.

I spotted this series of reviews while I was watching my ReBoot DVDs (Which are now available from Shout! Factory btw, I only got mine four months ago so they should still be there) and I have to say, I agree with every single word you're saying.
I think another concept that they could really tap into is the idea of the user and having more of an input. Especially if they want to explore the online gaming aspect, where NPCs are constantly interacting with users. I would love to see a sprite...

i Agree with 99% of your video, i do think online games would be a great addition, id personally like to see the show come around to its roots again and have fun in game cubes knocking off your favorite movies and TV shows for what made the series. I am also from toronto and a film maker and i also believe thAT the developers and writers should isolate themselves from the network, Networks here dont produce the best shows, only the most likely for profit and YTV will not reboot Reboot

extremely well done review :) As it works out, a DVD series did come out now (too bad there are mixed reviews since the transfer from VHS to DVD was not perfect, sound pitch is off, but image quality is intact). I still plan to buy it anyways to support the series. Hope those movies come out!

Actually, I heard that the series IS being re-relased again on June 28, 2011. I am definitely going to buy it, I use to watch this show when I was young and miss it so much. I agree that they could do a lot more with the plot than what they have. Never have I seen the movies but I did see the first three seasons of the show a long, long time ago and a brief part of the four season probably about 9 or 10 years ago.

For me season four as a whole didn't work story wise the characters weren't acting like themselves "in my view"
Daemon should of had longer to flesh out her character, Dot was still on the- Me & Bob are just friends routine -that was just tiresome.
In My two bobs while I was glad to get Megabyte back I didn't like how they brought him back as Matrix, Phong, Dot in particular were too cold organising a wedding while Bob was in a coma fighting for his life. Things were moving way to fast!!

As for the direction, I'm giving 2 thumbs up for the hacker idea. After all the MainFramers have been through with a system crash and a near-miss total net wipe, having a User (which may or may not be seen as some sort of deity to them) come in and stir up sh*t would seem like God himself had forsaken them. Although I like the idea, I don't think it will work, as they would haave no means in which to fihgt a user

Never saw season 4 ... I don't think. Cartoon network brought it back in '99. Wiki says only the first 3 seasons were show. 4 ends with a cliff hanger? Well, that sucks the revival is now canceld. Still plan on picking up the complete series on March 1st 2011.

Well the way I saw it is they have alot more to deal with than what they are planning. We could go on the tangent of the comic they are writing but that is pretty much fan fiction. You know, I've been watching this show (on my really outdated and fuzzy VHS tapes from when they aired) for years. And honestly? I'm 20. Maybe it sounds a bit obsessive or crazy to some but that's 4/5 of my life that I've been watching this show. And I actually still consider it fondly. This show is so memorable, I still pull out my tapes every once in a while. It's worth more than just a revisitation.

While unique, the original designs were made to be simplistic, given limited technology of its original airtime. Blunty, todays graphical standard says "ugly." Rather than a re-release; Reworking the designs is a good idea. The color scheme was fine, as was the core idea, but they need to be more intricate to catch attention. While I agree content > appearance, it simply isn't the mainstream belief, and companies need to follow the mainstream.

I have been waiting for somthing for a long time for the continuation of this show I want to know what happends next I'm still waiting for it looking online until the day it comes back. but until that day it is like a void of nothingness and emptyness of the noncompletion to the story so many things you can do with is. so this goes to all the reboot fans we must fight on until the day it comes back and I pray when it does they do not ruin the great show that was created.

Gary Chalk said that there as a problem with DVD releases. "The thing is that Reboot is owned by 3 (Yes 3!!!) seperate Companies, and until they all come together we won't get a dvd Boxset". At least thats what was said. I hope that they do make a sequel series this was one of the most best series that was ever produced.

Ok not doubtful but hard just because so much time has passed but I would love to see them again :) This show rocked, seriously. I found the matrix arc to be boring until he finally found mainframe (thank goodness the network was smart not to prolong this series because it would have gotten way too boring). But Reboot is the show where if you stick around long enough, it gets better and something awesome will happen if you're willing to wait for it :)

Honestly, It's rather doubtful the show can and will kick off. I mean, yeah, a DECADE since it last aired...I mean fans will have grown older and moved on to other things..plus it'll probably be focused on the fans, and other such things..it'll be really hard since so much time has passed since the days of reboot..although they're airing it on tv again..channel 90 In Canada, BC where I am :) on the matrix saga but this makes me want to watch it all over again :)

I think that the comic should bring the orignal plotline of the last movie 2 a close then who knows. I kinda want it to end on a good note and not go on forever and get crappy. Release the series on DVD and then have the film trilogy seperate from the series (obviously retaining the premise)

reboot was a killer show for sure. I just got done watching the entire series on youtube myself. I wasteched it back in the days of toonami on cartoon network. I saw the teaser trailer and im pretty confident in this movie but at the same time if what you are saying about the plot for the movie is true it might be a downer. I think they could do so much more with it like idk instead of having the viruses fighting against megabyte why not have the viruses team up and attack the super computer

They released a teaser trailer for the movie trilogy a few weeks ago, if you haven't seen it, you should check it out. It's only a tiny bit but I got extremely excited when I saw it lol

Yes! I absolutely agree that they need to release the DVDs. I have really really crappy versions of the fourth season/movies that I burned on to CDRs, and since the DVDs are unavailable I've been able to catch old eps online... but anything to help facilitate the new stuff coming out.

i was a reeboot fan when i was a kid, i never saw the movies but then the show became very sporadic by season 3, kids shows were constantly being side tracked in place of sports which have alsways bored me so i lost track and lost interest, i think it's time i watched it all agina, now just to find it first.

I can honestly hope that if Reboot gets its revival, it's *not* based off of any fan made comic.
I read some of the one that was available online, and though an interesting concept - meh, you know? Plus, it just really bothers me that Bob could be that forgiving of Dot after she ditched him based on appearances in the fourth movie (the one thing that royally ticked me off about that entire movie. That move totally ruined Dot for me).

Interesting. Reboot, I think. Needs a revival big time. It was a well done show once you got into it. It was crazy. But, for the masses. There's plenty of people, especially new kids who do not know what Reboot is. I would introduce it for a whole new generation. But for the fans, I guess it does deserve a sequal. But it'll be a decade when it does happen, and its still a sequal to a show from the 90's. Its a lot to think about.

I made artwork, hoping to work on one of those pitches, (not the one choses) but by the time I came on the scene, all the other groups had given up. This was a very unfair way to create a fan-made comic if you ask me. Many of the other pitches had much better character development if they just did some minor changing. But as I said, by the time I got there, they had all given up hope and so my artwork went completely unnoticed. Sigh.

Also, it was said in past show by the very on megabyte that Code Breaker and Virus had a very unpleasant history . To me , this would be a good opportunity to unravel those mystery and to conclude the sequel.
Finally , like you said , I like the playing game stuff and the having to fight and indestructible user that would always come. It is very similar to the new challenge that we have to encounter and the difficulty that we live.

I REALLY wish the series would be released on dvd with the 2 tv movies released as the final 4th season of the show. Season 3 and 4 were so well thought out, except for the soap operah of my two Bobs. If they do make movies again, which i hope they do, id like to see them pick up where the series left off, maybe a short time later with flash backs to what happened inbetween. A War with Megabyte sounds good, but like how it was when they fought the Web sort of action.

Yeah now that I think about it My Two Bobs couldn't have been more soap oprahy unless someone got amnesia. But really I liked the plot of that movie. I fliped out when I saw the ending. If Mega's wants pay back for a lose he planned out he well I don't know seems really more self centered. I'd be happy if the three new movies where just a big long fight between Megabyte and Bob. Yeah, it's a shame Tony Jay died. But if Rainmaker Entertainment wants a replacement for Megavyte, well call me crazy but in my opinion, Hugo Weaving is the guy to go to for Megabyte.

I live in the UK, and have all 4 seasons of Reboot on dvd! Sounds like a lie, but I am telling the truth! I'm also trying to get more people into the show as much as I am, in hopes that others will love it too and bring it back to British television through demand (as slim as that chance is, but still).
P.S Love the videos! You raise a lot of good/interesting points, I think the Zeroes2Heroes webcomic is actually really good. I belive there is another one on the way.

my mom and dad record the show when i was born and i am now a huge fan. i have every season on dvd inculeing the movie. im so glad they will make more movies. i love reboot and i am telling my friends about it to. i am 14 and hope to get the yoger people intested again. I like the fact i was born on the year reboot came out.

I was born in 1990 so I watched the series when it began in 1994 but I did not get the whole concept of story plots because I was a kid but now that i'm 18 almost 19 I get the whole show now and how great it is. USA has no show like this all canadian Eh?

When i was 4 and started to watch the show on the videos i havemy dad started to explain things to me i think its thanks to him and to reboot that at the age of 7 i have to iq of 130 and now i am 14 have the iq of 149. Its all thanks to reboot. now my dad is teaching me hytorscience now and it is all thanks to reboot

i never seen the movies, but the orgenal show yea it used to kick my ass when i watched it, by now that comp would have been been in the trash so i think they should back up our cast and put into a new comp where megabyte feeds off a shitty operating system (cough vista cough) then becomes a huge mega virus that muliplys and ganes strength when faces antie viuris stuff (dies and comes back strong and in more numbers)

ReBoot was an awesome show, but I think they should focus on another system other than Mainfame. Season 3 showed us different systems and they were awesome.

That's a great idea! Would be nice if the spin off occasionaly allowed the mainframe cast to make a guest appearance, like how in Stargate Atlantis we see SG-1's cast members from time to time. Or maybe just a few characters can cross over?

I think Matrix and ArdAlla (however you spell it) should keep traveling via the games..since Mainfame has two Enzos now. I didn't watch "My Two Bob's", and i think thats a good thing. I've started to watch the ReBoot episodes on here....brings back memories. God bless Tony Jay--one of the best voice actors ever!!

I didn't know that the movies were being made for DVD only. I was all excited about going to the theater and seeing them on the big screen (in a LOTR-like fashion), because I can easily cough up $30 (factoring in the recession and inflation) to see three movies, but coughing up $60-$90 for 3 DVDs is way past my budget, even for something this fantabulous. I hope they change their minds and put at least the first movie on the big screen (Disney-style).

I've been reading the comics. Well... the comic. I thought it was kind of a cop out how Megabyte died right away. :P The online comic reader thing is kind of lame. They need to release it as a CBR file or something. Actually, that's exactly what I did the day it came out. I ripped every page and uploaded it to a torrent site as a comic book archive. xP

I agree with your statements, and I actually didn't find much flaws in the 'Arrival' pitch until you pointed them out. Nonetheless, I still don't mind the pitch. I'm sure that many fans just want closure at the very LEAST! Atleast, that's what I want for the series.

Great video. Rainmaker has to release a boxset of the entire series, get it back on Cartoon Network, and do everything they can to get people back (or bring new fans) into ReBoot. The trilogy should hit theaters, and from there, if all goes well, the show should continue.
Of course, that's all wishfull thinking.

I really enjoyed this 3-part ReBoot review. It was funny, but also brought up great points. I very much agree with everything you said in Part 3, and I am also fearful of fans working on the pitch for the new trilogy. Fan fiction is lame, and I can't help but feel that Rainmaker is only allowing this to happen because they are too lazy to write the trilogy themselves. I mean, they aren't even doing anything to rekindle ReBoot's popularity... they are relying on ReBootRevival.

I liked listening to your thoughts on future development, and it is truly a massive undertaking. After 7 years, this show can go anywhere with infinite possibilities. I hope that they are using a few of the original producers and writers, as I am worried of what will come from a production studio that has been doing children's films (Arthur and Barbie) and the CGI for the Stargate franchise. Now, I am beginning to feel that I would rather leave the series at the "My Two Bobs" cliffhanger,

I liked your reasoning with the future of the plot. I agree it is sort of getting into a cyclical thing, which would work if they wanted to do a new season, but yeah for a movie they definitely would need an original plot.
But yeah the company doing this now is nuts... There have been less popular shows that received full DVD releases, blows my mind that I can't go out and buy this show. All Rainmaker does now are crappy straight to DVD barbie things

i agree. its kind of ironic to me actually that they're doing lots of straight to dvd barbie movies when in the past they battled ABC and various other networks to include less campy, juvenile themes.
And seriously, fucking Beast Wars all 3 seasons are on DVD. And available on Amazon.
Now, last time I checked they were produced by the same company. WTF? And technically Universal has the rights until next year.

I feel so let down by the people behind releasing this show and those who showed it here in the United Kingdom! Basically, we got Reboot season 1 and some of season 2, but the episodes where Bob disappeared were not shown, it was litterally, one day we had Bob, then suddenly Enzo is the Guardian, then he is Matrix and he never made it back to Mainframe and we never found out what happened, or about the movies. I want them all on dvd as is... also some new movies, but the series & originals 1st!!

Oh I know all about the legal rights issue, I didn't mention it in my review because I didn't want to bore you guys, and more so because I think Rainmaker is insane...They should have sucked it up years ago and bought back the rights from whoever has them! And thanks...I guess I had a slip of the tongue with the "Terabyte" thing! But a "Trilobite" virus would be cool too! Thanks, I love trivia like that!

The last thing I heard, the home video rights to the first and second seasons were/are tied up with the company that produced the first VHS tapes - Polygram, a company that was sold to Seagram in 1998. Seagram handed Polygram over to Universal, but some of their film library is actually controlled by MGM. I don't know which company holds the rights now, but I know that that's why Rainmaker can't just up and release the show on DVD.

All three parts were well made and entertaining to watch - excellent presentation! My hopes for the show to continue has been rekindled.
Since you asked, I agree with most of your comments. You were generous in your comment in Part 2 about "Two Bobs". Dot did not stay "true to her roots". I believe the writers did a poor job with Dot's character. An altruistic Dot would have stayed loyal to damaged Bob, or at least make her realize her mistake on her own, rather than reveal it to her.

I can see you may have a major point! But, I have a different view of what Dot did! On the one hand, I acknowledge that it was strange and shocking! However, I rolled with it as she had been torn about the choice and sought out advice...and that was kind of the entire movie's plot. So without that conflict..."My Two Bobs" would have been about...well...nothing!

General plot could have been maintained. Have Dot realize her mistake on her own, say at the wedding when Gitch-Bob shows up. She turned him down! Remember, this was the one she almost died with several times. What hardship did she live through with the new Bob?
Remember, Glitch-bob could have been dying, while Dot and crew were doing what, planning a wedding? Who was with Glitch-Bob on his death bed?
This by the way, is the only negative criticism I have about the show.

personally My Two Bobs is the ONLY ReBoot (Movie/Episode) I don't like. Dot is annoying and not in character. I'm sorry. And i figured that the other(seasons 1-2 looking) Bob was fake. But then again, I do watch a lot of TV and I am familiar with many plot devices.
Dot basically spends half the damn episode crying, feeling sorry for herself and being obnoxiously indecisive. Not interested.
I wanted to slap her.
ANYWAY i really hope the revival works out. Keepin' my fingers crossed.

I agree Dot's actions in "My Two Bobs" was really bad, especiaslly her line about when she sees glitch-Bob itreminds her of all the bad times, yet she didn't mind it when she kissed him at the end of season 3 and Matrix should make her remember bad things too like losing Enzo. The real Bob had been through more with her anyway. It was creepy how she acted like a carefree bride without acknowledging the real Bob's supposed death.

I know what you mean! It bothers me too! I guess I accepted that the "My Two Bobs" Movie was a take on the Soap Oprah, and that kind of thing is necessary for that kind of plot to unfold.... But devil's advocate here... was it so weird that she was happy until a newer (albeit less shiny) version of Bob showed up???
