I was around 12 or 13 when I first heard & remembered DJ Quik as one artist that stood out to me just because of his stage name & his was the first video I'd ever ordered to watch on Video Juke Box back in '91 just out of curiousity to hear how "quick" he was. There's one song on Safe + Sound that really impressed me even more, years later called "It'z Your Fantasy" & that track along with every other 1 on that CD only confirmed that he's a fuckin' genius. How could anyone not like his music?
