Does anyone remember seeing these in dead storage @ Codman Yard back in the late 80's? I lived in Southie @ the time & saw them every time we passed by. Then I remember hearing rumors that the T wanted to rehab them for additional-service use on the Red Line.
Wow. Nice one! A huge slice of good old Boston sights and sounds disappeared with the old Orange Line. This brought back some great childhood memories. Thanks for posting this!
I don't think I've ever seen any film or video of the old Blue Line (0500 Bowdoin-Wonderland) cars. I used to ride them way back when (60s + 70s), but they began to be replaced starting in 1979. I even rode the even earlier class cars (I think from the 20's) a few times in the early-mid 70s. Maybe someone has newsfilm/tape, or even some 8mm.. I don't. But there are photos and slides on the net of these and many others.

The Yellow Line? This is actually the orange Line, running down Washington Street, yes?
