The game composer Nobuo uematsu said that he wont be doing the FFXIII ost so SE and Nobuo Uematsu choose Masashi Hamauzu and of course he change the fanfare same thing happened with FFX-2's fanfare so its not a big deal??

I for one dislike the story line/naming of some characters but the music was a nice change and it feels more relaxed after a big all boss fight

From FF - 10,12 (big dance party feel) ffx,x-2 (girls night feel) and ff13 it just feels like a kick back and suck in some piano,you just won(victory theme wise)

I love the original fanfare but this is a nice change, they were wanting to go for something different with a more serious storyline.

The point is not that it's bad or not, old or not. The point is that the Victory Fanfare has been a trademark of the numbered Final Fantasy for over twenty years, and fan of the serie would have loved to hear a new version of it in the game. Change, ok, but for the better, not for the worst.

I've played every single game, and while it's not the best, it's far from the worst... If you really want to know, they've fucked up the results screen music since FF7.

What did you expect? Nobue Uematsu didn't work on the project. At least be happy that the new composer did a quality job.

I agree that it's good to try something new and that it fits the game's theme, but just that moment ruined the game for me. I also didn't expect live fighting, but it turned out okay. I guess I got my hopes up, but to each his own, I guess.

@RespectMyCountry My point is, seeing as they had to have someone else do it, I'm glad that they got him to do his own thing, instead of trying a poor imitation of Uematsu. They weren't really wanting to try something new, they had to.

The fighting system is also no more live than it's ever been (With the exception of ATB gauge canceling.) The ATB system has been around since SNES FF, all they did was animate the characters and camera moving around a lot more.

People, seriously. FFXIII isn't the first time FF has undergone a major change. FFVII introduced the materia system instead of having set jobs, FFXII revamped the battle system. FFXIII is introducing the Paradigm system as well as the crystarium system. FFXIII isn't the first time that the series has changed. This time, however, the game is being pushed through a DRASTIC overhaul. Games can't use the same formula every time. They can change and be successful *points at METAL GEAR*

@SintauxXIII FF III introduced the job system, FF V was the first final boss with multiple forms, FF II had a very different level system, FF VIII and IX gave us card games (started the minigame trend - remember Blitzball from X?)... the list goes on and on. Final Fantasy can't remain static forever.

@bj121997 X-2 Was not a Final Fantasy. It doesn't count. But yeah, the battle results theme is fine, but I think people want the fanfare to remain the same. Notice that all the games you listed excluding X-2 have the actual original fanfare, just different battle result themes. XIII takes a leap of faith off the world's tallest cliff by removing our beloved victory fanfare. I like XIII's music, including its fanfare. I just think that Hamauzu could have had the courtesy to give fans the classic.
