I actually had the same level as you when I started learning the song :D I played Metallica and Megadeth solo's like master of puppets, one, or holy wars and stuff like that. So I think you have fine basics for no boundaries. It took me 6 months for being able to play the song at 85% speed. The last 15% are the hardest to crack. from this point it depends on you how quick you learn and how much you practice. If you work really hard you can crack the song fully in max. one year or less.

@mickr08 He shows you so much stuff dude! He starts with three (i think) picking techniques, with several examples for each technique, then slows each example down. After he shows those, he shows you the song in tabs. He splits the song into about 27 parts. It's a great DVD!!!

Bin grad an dem Punkt an dem ich nicht weiß was ich machen soll.. Freischwebend wie Michael Batio (von dem man allerdings öfters hört dass der trotz allem Speed ne total verkrüppelte Schlaghand hat) oder wie auf ner Schiene (=Brigde) führend wie Rusty Cooley..wär halt die 'lehrbuchvariante'^^

A question how did you practice that? Because there are 27 parts. You mastered 13 parts at full speed first and then the other 14, or maybe you mastered each part at medium speed and then you gradually speed up each part?

practice all the parts slowly first until you 1.) got all the picking patterns correctly and 2.) don't need to think about the notes anymore. Then speed this thing up up to the original speed. a few bpms faster in comfortable intervalls. the hardest bpms are the last 10 ;)
