God's Truths: Even a Child Can Understand

As a little child I did not know much about the gospel. I did not have an organized religion in my life but I sang simple songs like, Kumbaya and He's Got the Whole World in His Hands at nightime before I fell asleep. I knew in my heart that God was real, that He loved me and had sent His son to the world and I loved them with all my heart. When I found the Church of Jesus Christ I knew that it was true and all that I had ever known about God was know clearer and put into words.

People always find it weird that I prefer to speak to children than adults. Children are far more receptive to the spirit and a far less stubborn than their adult counterparts.

There's nothing wrong with children being raised up unto the Lord for so it was with Timothy and Paul commended him for it!

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus - 2 Tim 3:15

Thankfully not all have to be hardened adults before learning truth.

I mean to become like christ we simply need to look at Our examples around us, our beautiful children, nephews, nieces, Grandkids.... In order to be christ like we must first become like a child! Submissive, Teachable, meek, humble and the list goes on! I LOVE IT! What a beautiful thing! :)

Whenever I hear this argument, I am reminded of 1 Cor 13:11. It's ok to simplify it when you are actually talking to a child, but adults have to have an adult faith, and adult understanding of the faith. As you grow, your faith, like your mind, becomes more complex. If it doesn't, it stagnates.

It takes superior intelligence, wisdom and great effort to take complex things and make them simple and easy to understand.

Many modern day intellectuals excel at taking simple things and making them complicated and hard to understand. This gives them a feeling of superiority over the uninformed masses.

I am so blessed to be a member of the church and this message was brought home today as I heard my son sing a primary song he still does not know. I thought he wasn't paying attention squirming and all during class. They do listen and learn. How blessed we are to belong to the true church and it's teachings of Jesus and Heavenly Father.

It is so that even children can understand. I believe this to be true. I grew up in the church. I love the Gospel so much, and without it I cant imagine what my life would be like without it. I would be a mess. I had never read any other book more, than the Book of Mormon. and with that came blessings. And I understood every single word. the blessings that came with that was my reading, writing and spelling skills were higher than my age lvl, and still are. I believe this to be a blessing. Xox

What about people around the world who are never exposed to the gospel in life? Do they have no hope of getting to heaven? Isn't this unfair? Don't you guys believe that we should have an infinite amount of faith in god? Is god unfair? If they go to hell isn't god punishing them for something they couldn't control?? I'm not religious, but I believe god exists. I'm curious.

Hi norhead77, I think that you have raised a very valid point. Latter day saints teach that all mankind will have the opportunity to hear the gospel at some point and will be able to choose for themselves. That is one of the reasons that we have such a positive missionary programme. The point that you are making, though refers to those who die without hearing the gospel. We believe that they will be given the chance to hear the message after death. They too will be given the choice.

Well people that did not hear about God in this life certainly are not going to hell, they will have another opportunity in the next life to accept God and the Savior. We believe that we all will immediately go to work teaching those very people you were asking about, making sure that all of Gods children are taken care of. I think what is especially important about this, is that we tend to make the gospel more complicated as we get older, but in essence, the purpose of the gospel to help people come unto Christ, and stay. That is the foundation and cornerstone of everything we do.
