  • I always thought that this song was by Dashboard Confessionals but it was a cover version!

    Shame on me!

  • second favorite weezer song after mykel and carli <3

  • raw sound dont get them like this anymore :) love it

  • i think the title should be jamie non gay version

  • @gelistheway123 hahahha, that was way funnier than it should have been. Definitely did a weird, PAH! sound in this quiet house. I'd be fucked had I been drinking milk.

  • THE BEST WEEZER B-SIDE - LIKE THIS

  • i hate when people say that weezer "stole" this from dashboard confessional

people say that about el scorcho too

    idiots

  • @RicoPLoredo Yeah... Its a common chord structure is all... A lot of songs have the same chords. You can tell the ones which are blatant rip offs and the ones that just have the same chords.

  • @SuperMegabar Actually, I think Rico was referring to the fact that Dashboard Confessional covered this song and brought it further into the mainstream music fanbase. For a while, Dashboard fans were coming to Weezer's Jamie videos and saying that Weezer stole DC's song when that's simply not true.

  • awsomee song!!

  • Thumbs up if you loved this song when it came out in '94 on DCG Rarities Vo. 1. And a 'HELL YEA' if you got it (and still have it) on Cassette Tape!!

  • Classic Weezer. Fuck yeah.

  • sucks...

  • @xgalore77zerha268 I wouldn't normally comment on something like this but... You're a Cascada fan, you hardly know what music is...

  • @lazrpo sure i do, that's how i know this sucks, hey you know what's better than weezer? pretty much anything, oh and fuck you whining baby

  • My name is Jamie! ^-^

  • @PurrSnickety woot woot

  • What are the odds that the name of the girl I love would turn out to be Jamie.

Damn you, Weezer. Telling my life with your lyrics.

  • There should really be pics of Weezer w/ Matt Sharp for this song...

  • I like the acoustic so much better.

  • I think we can say that, we all got a "Jamie" in our lifes...

  • @HackScapeLastLove

Not everyone has a music industry lawyer. ;)

  • ORIGINAL VERSION

  • i love how heavy this song is. it's so powerful.

  • I loved this song soooo much when I was younger (and still) even though my name is spelled Jamey.

  • This version is also on the Buddy Holly UK single.

  • it gets me mad that ppl actually think dashboard confession (i think thats da name right?) made this

  • RIP my gecko Jamie. I named that girl after this song. This song is fun to play on the drums.

  • my favorite weezer song, i love them since 1993

  • this song is about weezers lawyer jamie.

  • mindblowing

  • =w=

  • This song was originally released in 1994 on DGC Rarities, Vol 1. The song was recorded in the Spring of 1993 by Loyola Marymount University student Dale Johnson for his final project in music engineering. He got a B+. Rivers was surprised by the grade and told him, "But it's gonna be on a CD, man....!"

  • @mrcove1 what the fuck

  • @mrcove1 if this is true, it is one of the greatest stories i have ever heard

  • @youngcleanlegit Oh, it's really amazing when you realize that this whole performance was done completely live on an 8 track recorder.

And the guy got a B+? Pfft, he only recorded a song that helped pave the way for one of the biggest bands of the 90s.

  • MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN THE LAMEASS DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL VERSION!!!!!!

    Chris Carraba sucks balls.

    But Weezer=Awesome

    \/\/ for life

  • i love the acoustic better -.-

  • Considering that this is a Blue Album song it would have been more appropriate to use a picture with Matt in it instead of Scott. Not that it really makes a difference.

  • @axmrafat It's not a Blue Album song, it's pre-Blue.

By your logic, they shouldn't have included Brian either.

  • @lazrpo Well it isn't that easy to find pictures of Jason with the band. I made the comment because I'm not fond of Scott, he represents the path Weezer decided to go down after Mikey left.

  • sad how good bands end up sucking dick. sorry weezer.

  • @larrybob141 shut the fuck up

  • Great.what a song.simple and to the point.you cant ask for more

  • i have no idea what that top rated dude means by "so tits".

  • @alfredoking14 Tits are awesome. This song is awesome.

  • this is good...but i think dashboard's cover is better.

  • lol @ all the ignorant comments in the uploader comment section. weezer obviously has the first and best version.

  • I'm sooo proud to be a Jamie right now! :D

  • @jamiejean22 Same here!!!!

  • It's off of DGC Rarities Vol 1. Recorded by one of their friends as a project for his recording class. It was recorded live to two track. I think he only got a B on the project. Probably the only one in the class that got something officially released...

  • ...i love this song...it's so raw...

  • Comment removed

  • Half you probably think this song is about a girl.

    Its about his lawyer. :P

  • @OpIvyBlackOps Well it is thought this song was written for Rivers' brother Leaves, who changed his name to James (he's a lawyer), then it was converted to a love song. So I'm not so sure about that.

  • @OpIvyBlackOps well the lawyer is a girl...so half of these people are correct

  • @zoidsberg75 nope the lawyer is a guy

  • @OpIvyBlackOps Really? Jamie Young, the same Jamie who inspired this song and The Rentals Mrs. Young, is a man?

  • @OpIvyBlackOps The lawyer referred to in this song is a girl. Her name is/was Jamie Young, and inspired the songs titled (get this) "Jamie" and "Mrs. Young"

  • @OpIvyBlackOps well, weezerpedia says "She inspired two songs". also, they refer to the lawyer as "girl" in the song.

  • The most underrated amazing band of the 90's.

    =W=

  • I miss old weezer. So many good memories. Jamie and Suzanne are among the best songs recorded in the early to mid 90's.

  • I want to see the videooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you've got the beach boys!!

  • Rivers Cuomo, in addition to writing a song in which he describes sniffing and tasting an 18-year-old fan's fan letter before imagining said fan masturbating, has also written what basically amounts to a love song to his lawyer.

  • better then dashboard confessional's

  • i just found this song on my ipod, i never knew it was there. today is a good day.

  • @xXlunartearsXx yeah.... i think im the only one on youtube that has the original song cause i searched for it but nobudy else has it...

  • @gtbtone me 2, this is the "original" version, plus was release in the 90's in a cd name rarities vol 1

  • @goldfrag21 actually weezer originally made this... dashboard confessional covered this song... this song was never famous because it was on the blue album deluxe as a bonus song and they dont sell that one anymore...

so appreciate this song dude... this is a rly great song!

btw its called a cover... not stealing...

  • Comment removed

  • @goldfrag21 obvious troll is obvious

  • @goldfrag21:

Goodlawd, dashboard idolizes weezer and you say this? I don't even know how to start ranting now.

  • @goldfrag21 This was originally on the DGC Rarities Vol 1 disc from around 1994... well before Dashboard Confessional...

  • @goldfrag21 WAY 2 POST UNINFORMED STUPIDITY. you were probably not even born when this song was released originally.

  • @goldfrag21 Dude, first of all, Jamie is an original B-Side by the band. Dashboard Confessional are a bunch of whiny bitches who wouldn't even BE around if they didn't have Weezer to listen to when they were growing up. This is my favorite Weezer song. Get your facts straight.

  • @chisels13 Yeah, Weezer is a great band but i personally like Dashboard Confessional much better. Even if i didnt like Dashboard Confessional, you should call others a bunch a whiny bitches.

Other than that, this song is great and i like this version better than Dashboard Confessionals.

  • @goldfrag21 wow, don't you look like the a..hole now huh?

  • @goldfrag21

That could have just been the most idiotic comment I've ever read on any YouTube video.

  • @goldfrag21 Way to spell steal wrong

  • i still have my original autographed 8x10 by all the founding members

  • Wasn't this on a soundtrack to something as well? I want to say Tank Girl... but can't remember.

  • This recording was some guy's recording project for college. He got a B.

  • @ZZKe7: ya, i read that in the Geffen rarities liner notes. that teacher was a douche bag. Confirmed.

  • @brutuscassius1 That Geffen rarities album was the cat's ass - The Beck song was awesome, this was awesome even the Counting Crows song was above acceptable!

  • I was 16 back then =P,I didnt even understood what the lyrics said, why I still like this : D ¿?¿?¿? maybe I hear it now from a diffrerent angle ?¿¿?¿?

    =P

  • i got the deluxe version of the blue a;lbum and iot has this song

  • agreed, he doesn't put much emotion into his music anymore. Pinkerton was awesome!

  • ive got the blue album but it isnt on it.

  • @123legodude its on the blue album deluxe edition...

sorry... if u wanna dwonload the song the link iz in the discription

  • @gtbtone oh whoops. lol next time i should try this thing called reading.

  • @gtbtone ...this song originally was on Geffen Record Compilation album back in 92 or 93...cant remember the album title...

  • @123legodude open your eyes before you open your mouth ;)

  • @hardcoreforkings i dont have the deluxe version

  • Weezer thank you for helping me pick the name of my daughter

  • @Jynkxxx That is my Name! :)

  • Fucking love this song.

  • I had this on DGC Rarities like, 15 years ago.....loved that CD.

  • lol i love how he says Jamie. Ja-yyy-mee-iah. imma start saying my name like that :D

  • Brian bell looks like the guy from college humour

  • thank you everyone for watching!!!!

    :D

  • Song was also the b side to the "buddy holly" single in the uk.

  • @kevtheredmufc really??? hu.... i never knew that.. haha

  • Weezer makes me cry.. this band truly had great potential, they incorporated their influences really well plus they had their own unique sound .. can somebody tell me... what the F*CK HAPPENED!? i mean "New" Weezer sucks!!

  • @harshroger My theory is that Matt Sharp was the glue keeping it together. Paul Simon was obviously the main member of Simon and Garfunkel, and yet, when they split, Paul Simon couldn't write a song for shit. And similarly, when Matt Sharp left Weezer, it all went downhill. Pinkerton has my vote for best album of alltime.

  • @harshroger yea! i like sum of their new songs but i really think buying rattitude is a waste of money!!! I like the red album though... :/

but their old stuff was amazing!

  • @harshroger Pinkerton did't get as much success as the blue album and it freaked Rivers out so he basically sticks to soulless bubblegum pop instead of putting any feeling in his music.

  • @cadwellma THATS REDICULOUAD of you to say. Weezer is FULL of emotion

  • @harshroger DUDE, AGREEEEED!

  • It's a nice sonic bridge between Kitchen Tape Era and the Blue Album. It was recorded by a college student (from Loyola Marymount) for his senior year engineering project/thesis.

  • hahaha i lovee this song cause my name is jamie(: !!

  • mental cool! i only ever heard the acoustic version!!!

  • Good god early Weez was dominant. Take a good listen, this is magical

  • fantastic song.

  • my god. i've never heard this! I cant stop listening to it

  • @TheFlyinCow i know right!!!?? haha

  • @gussiex3 i actually lol'ed, ha. good call bro!!! hope for ur sake ur trolling

  • @gussiex3 are you insane!???

  • i bought both album yea my high school rocks

  • This song is so tits... I don't hate new Weezer, but I LOVE old weezer.

  • @acmarko this song is so tits? haha awesome

  • @acmarko You know this is the "old" weezer, right? This was from The Blue Album which was released in 1994.

  • @acmarko so tits?

  • @acmarko true dat muda fuka

  • @acmarko Wait, so you're saying this is bad? But this is old Weezer...

  • @yaymynameispete Ok, to put too fine of a point on this, I'm aware that this song is old Weezer, and I like it.

  • Was this recorded at the same time of the blue album? The guitars have a quite different tone...

  • @heety9 yes

  • @gtbtone that was quick =P

  • @heety9 i know right???? hahahahaha

  • recently heard this and it instantly became my favorite weezer song. Jesus, they used to be so great.

  • Such a lovely/awful guitar tone. Love it.

  • true that aaleekhan

  • ahhh such a fun song to play and sing :)

  • This is seriously my favorite song of all time and it didn't even make an album. It's super simple, but the melody is just amazing. It's the perfect mix of rock and pop, which is why Weezer used to be so sweet. They were grinding you down with those power chords, but they had the most beautiful melodies ever to grace a teenage ear. Rivers, you stole my heart with this one.

  • this is when weezer didnt suck dick

  • @aaleekhan do u mean they suck dicks now? or r u calling me a dick???

  • @gtbtone I guarantee hes not calling you a dick. He probably just realizes that Weezer is fucking garbage at the moment.

  • @aaleekhan listen to Maladroit and then talk to me. And stop trying to sould cool by pretending you don't love the red one.

  • @aaleekhan im confused. weezer never sucked.

  • thank you ever soo much for the weezer "Jamie" and not that dashboard garbage.

  • this song SOOOO shoulda been on the album!!!

  • the original is by weezer, dashboard covered it

  • its a cover for dashboard confassional

  • you mean dashboard confessional did a cover of this, its weezer's song

  • Oh =w= what happened to you? you used to rock and now....you go on tour with crappy emo bands. go back to the basics!

  • couldnt agree anymore

  • they recorded this on a 4-track in the mid 90s i remember and love it

  • @greaser1952 Actually, a college student recorded them for a class project in the early 90s before they signed with Geffen. This was also supposed to be their first single in 1993, but they managed to sign with Geffen before it was released.

  • @lazrpo1nt3r yes recorded on a 4 track my point

  • Comment removed

  • @greaser1952 It was recorded on a 2 track. There's no mention on Weezerpedia of how many tracks it took to record the actual song.

  • This is the cutest song about a stalker that I've ever heard.

  • has anyone heard the cover by dashboard confessional?

    i like it lots

  • @GitarHeroInNeverland its different. very sweet. i love the female vocalist in it, but it doesnt have the weezer feel, of course. still i think dashboard brings enough emotion to the table to justify a cover.

  • i did. yea it was a good rendition.

  • @JEALOUSYGC lol i saw comment removed and -7 i just had to see what you posted. now that i see, make it -8. fag.

  • Good Charlotte almost named their band (good charlotte xD) Jamie after this song. "we were 15. True story"

  • i wish the girl whom i love was named jamie : /

  • is this song about a lawyer?

  • idk

    its a love song....

  • @gtbtone umm, nah. It's about the band's ex lawyer

  • @septip123 Yes

  • @septip123 Yup, Weezer's lawyer Jamie Young.

  • yes, it's about their lawyer. read the booklet from the blue deluxe album

  • @septip123 it is about their lawyer. when they were doing blue album touring publicity and such, their industry lawyer was named jamie, and they recorded this song for her. not being pretentious or nothing. i just read it off the liner notes off the blue album deluxe edition. peace! luv to ya!

  • Jamies' basically own.

  • my name is jamie as well.
