This song belongs at our wedding.

Here's what makes them similar (Avett bros. and Mumford and Sons) - their music is completely from the heart and beautiful and not influenced by the commercial machine. Posted comments aside, I say just keep makin' these incredible tunes...!!

The Avett Brothers and Mumford and Sons are two COMPLETELY different bands. the Avetts have a much broader sound and they write some damn good lyrics. Mumford and Sons keep much of the same sound because thats what they enjoy playing. Both bands stay true to what they believe and do a great job of it

I'm from North Carolina, like some others on here, and there is NO WAY IN HELL you can defend the proposition that The Avett Brothers and Mumford & Sons sound remotely similar. Mumford sounds like a packaged band; The Avett Brothers sound like the real hills of North Carolina with all the requisite 'shine and poor grammar. My two cents.

@dartanianlive I agree wholeheartedly, except for the poor grammar part... Probably one of the Boys' most definitive features is their outstanding articulation. Hearing Scott lecture is absolutely sublime. I totally get your exaggeration to prove your point though. I was just sayin'! Carolina born and bred!

@nayR557 The Avett Brothers had about 7 albums or so before Mumford and Sons even formed. I love them but HATE when people compare them to the Avetts. The Avetts have been releasiing records and touring and striving for years. I mean no disrespect or anything. Its just a pet peeve of mine. So many people always say "I heard this cool band that sounds like mumford and sons".. It just makes me cringe.

@justingarman I see where you're coming from, but the truth of the matter is they DO sound like Mumford & Sons. And Mumford & Sons sounds like The Avett Brothers--it goes both ways. (They have their differences, of course, but I haven't yet heard anyone more similar.) People are just happy they found a similar sound, no matter who came first. Either way, they've discovered the Avetts. Why not rejoice with them? :)
