  • Saw this guitar tonight at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando. I was seriously considering smashing the glass with a spoon and stealing this. I'd never go back to Florida again.

  • SIEMPRE SE DESTACARON POR SER INTELIGENTES,NO ERAN SOLO MUSICOS ERAN PERSONAS CON PERSONALIDADES BIEN MARCADAS Y CON MUCHA CULTURA SOCIAL,ES LO QUE LOS DIFERENCIO DEL RESTO EN ESA EPOCA,ERA UN PLACER ESCUCHARLOS POR SER PERSONAS TAN JOVENES Y TAN INSTRUIDAS,GENIALES

  • what does he say at the end?? anyone know

  • :22 onwards is that brilliant transition at 7 minutes in Echoes. Always sink in my seat when I hear that bit.

  • I grew up in the wrong generation.

  • oh amor esa boca tuya

  • But I'm not

  • I would also dislike this if i were deaf

  • @bigmanpigman uhm, excuse me? to look at him play is just as fascinating as hearing him play! or to just look at him in general... ;)

  • HAY 5 SORDOS

  • God is Gilmour

  • he looked like leonardo di caprio then!!!

  • @mantrisvyahoo you mean leonardo di caprio looks like a young david gilmour :P

  • no musical training required

  • Anybody who thinks David is the "best" is extremely close minded.

  • @FurbyParade226

Thats your opinion not ours!!!!!, so go and visit the videos of the person YOU think is the best and leave us to David!

  • @FurbyParade226 If you can give me an answer of a guitarist that has had such a great impact upon music, that can convey his emotions better through his guitar, please do so

  • @jmc2990 Is this a trick question? lol.. I believe anybody that's ever picked up an instrument with the intension of putting their hard work into it, has "conveyed their emotions". To better answer your question, I prefer Tolkki from ex; Stratovarius. He's a much better guitar player, composer, and song writer, IMO. Take "Liberty", off of Elements Part II for example.. lol

  • @FurbyParade226 hahahaha

  • @FurbyParade226 or has a different opinion. I wouldn't call him my biggest inspiration, but he is an incredible songwriter and guitarist.

  • It's like he's ripping a hole in the universe when he plays that solo part.

  • God I wished I had his looks and his guitar talent!

    DAVID GILMOUR BEST GUITARIST EVER!!!!

  • To me this is the best guitarist that ever lived!

  • Comment removed

the story will be based on the years before the succès of pink floyd.

  • Wow, he looks so YOUNG!

  • ECHOES!!

  • If they ever make a movie on Gilmour, please let Leornardo De Caprio play Gilmour.

  • lol always looks high :)

  • @prattboy10 actually its david gilmour. YOU get it right.

  • Godamn. That tone.

  • If they ever invent time travel I want to hear that sound while I'm teleporting.

  • thanks to this vid everytime i pick up a guitar i wona play what his playing here but then i remember i dont know how to:( douse anyone have a tab link to put my nerves to rest?

  • Ladies only (oh fine, ok and some men, you know who you are) ... if you could go back in time would you have your way with David Gilmour or the Golden God Robert Plant? I know you're thinking both would be heaven, but this ain't heaven ladies. We're talking about ecstasy. Now choose!

  • @canthemum hahaha lol! "but this ain't heaven ladies. We're talking about ecstasy".

  • Im guy but in here Im gay :-) I love you, Dave Gilmour!!

  • I have a man-crush... is that normal?

  • does this man ever make any mistakes? :)

  • che sguardo fattonico

  • the sound of that thing is huge, it brings back "Animals", "Final Cut" etc

  • watch dicaprio in catch me if you can when he is being taken away by hanks on the plane and he is a spitting image of gilmour.

  • this is better than sex

  • Check out Leo Dicaprio on Catch me if you can with long hair compared to David at this times of Floyd,,they look very similar.

  • That's what you call talent

  • Yeah he makes it look effortless,Well it is effortless to him.Your born with a gift like this I think.

Gilmour is a pure musical genius.

  • he looks like leo dicaprio... no homo

  • you are right...and roger waters looks now like richard gere...

  • @vm0nge XD XD

  • what song is he playing in this vid???

  • He`s playing Echoes.

  • that's all folks

  • how does he get the guitar to go from clean to distorded without touching the amp?

  • @JEFFMM71 channel pedal, enables you to change the amp channel from clean to overdrive

  • The best there is and the best there ever will be.....IMO.

  • one word /SEXXY

  • hahaha... i agree... but dude... "hogwarts09?"

    HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

    ...i'm so sorry.

  • @gathyman ha thats rich coming your username is gathyman

  • i'll take that.... but still... hogwarts09?

  • We're all from the same planet who cares what the country. We should focus on what we have in common instead of our differences and enjoy the beautiful music of Earth

  • 0:31 can anyone make out what he says at the end? "That's what they said to Berlioz . . " then he continues his sentences, laughing . . .? I'm just really curious

    thanks!

  • If you search you can find the full version of the footage this clip is from. He said Berlioz instead of Beethoven so they start making fun of him lol.

  • when he got all those im guessing hes talking about the musicians berlioz got to play together somtimes over 1000 people playing in an orchestra

  • Hey Mesquita019 settle down.

  • hey he looks like my old friend dulay

  • yeah gilmoure the best for me

  • He´s just a legend, if he dies, i comit suicide in the next second.

  • Hush, speak not of such things!

  • i bet you don't

  • i cry a lot when Rick dies,but suicide...over reaction,i think.Let this things to Jackson fans!

  • Why would you end your own life when a person who has lived a long and prosperous life passes?

Yea, I worship David Gilmour as much as the next guy, but you're being senseless...

  • Really? I`ve always thought he was better-looking than DiCaprio. :]

  • he's just perfect!

  • Hello everybody! I am from Bulgaria and a few weeks ago I read in one of the bulgarian newspapers that Leonardo Di Caprio is going to play the role of Frank Sinatra in a movie, dedicated to the singer. So, he wll not be able to play David Gilmour, for the present! But I do agree that Leo looks like David and I hope that some day he will play him! And the move will win Oscar!

  • Its the black strat while it was still a baby. Hadn't even gone through puberty yet

  • I wish I could get that tone XP

  • Bullet 150.

  • Dave is my god

  • so young

  • I think I've viewed this video about 400 times, and it gets better every time.

  • @Hogweed11 I feel sorry for you. I uploaded it in december 2006 and I think I've watched it about 700-750 times I'm sure. will never get old, even to me.

  • Wow, he talks about Berlioz . . . . I love berlioz! Great composer (Symphony Fantastique :D)

  • wow i didn't know that...thanks for the info man.

  • I you honestly think his solos, or just solo work is weak, have a listen again in a relaxed mindset. he will take you places. There is no one like Gilmour when it comes to expressing onself thru bends and vibroto.

  • 1 of the solos in pink floyd - echoes off meddle.. probably the best pink floyd song imo

  • without any effort at all, he has created the best mini solo i have ever heard, i love pink floyd, this guy would have to be the greatest guitarist to ever live, along side jimmy page

  • you son of a bitch you said it like it was meant to be said.

  • YEAH i love the overdriven mini solo it's a beauty

  • are you kidding me? you thought it was weak? well cause your totally in one of the most famous bands in the world. :P

  • better than page I think page was sloppy live

  • Anyone taken a shot at tabbing that solo (i guess you could call it a solo).

  • who is playing ?? gilmour ?? no way...

  • yes buey..........

  • Love this Band.

  • It's not fair to be that sexy AND that talented!

  • i know! lol

  • Gilmour is still inspiring millions of guitar players around the world, there's no question why.

  • He inspired me to play gutair again

  • please not again!!

  • Genius.

  • That's funny....maybe Dave would like it too!

  • "Echoes" LMAO funky part :)

  • Pink Floyd is the best band ever.

  • @Hogweed11 ....AMEN.

  • @Hogweed11 *are

  • @Hogweed11 Know what your saying, then there is RUSH.

  • @Hogweed11

    yes men!

  • That is just as cool as fuck!!!

  • WOW, the difference between the effects and the clean channel is severe.

  • Cool hey! Do you know the songs he was playing?

  • Yeah, it was a lick from the middle of "Echoes" off of Meddle.

  • lol

  • geat footage I never have seen it before thanks

  • david was one of the best guitarists way too underrated he's in my top 10 he plays with such feeling

  • Lol, you got it all wrong, my man. Beck is influenced by David. Dave probably appreciates Beck's playing, but Beck probably worships David for rienventing the way the guitar is played.

  • Who is it that he mentions at the end.

  • muy weno

  • riff is echoes

  • and thats a part in the echoes breakdown off of meddle a great album for rryking

  • gilmour isnt influenced by beck you crazy son of a bitch gilmour is way better and i cant believe youd compare them david gilmour is fucking crazy

  • WOW. Jeff Beck has always been one of my fave guitarists (25 years now), and Gilmour right behind him. It wasn't until now did I realize how much Gilmour is influenced by Beck!

Go back and listen to "Beck's Bolero" from the Truth album, for a good example (compare to this 40s clip).

This is not to say that, David's one of the finest guitarist and most original of all time. We all have our influences! But, this clip was an epiphany for me, thanks for posting.

  • makes it look SO easy

  • ShiiiT...makes it look so freakin' EASY! Great musician...then and now.

  • I just got 'Classic Albums: The Making of Dark Side of the Moon' DVD. I recommend it.

  • sounds like a Big Muff or Fuzz Face.

  • yeah its the fuzz face, this was filmed during live at pompeii..

  • Is that available on DVD? Have you noticed how his lead-guitar sound has slowly become 'cleaner' as time went on? I kinda like the raspier Dark Side Moon sound, although the newer Marooned still sounds great- great playing.

  • Yeah it is on DVD, although every part of it is up here on you tube just type pink floyd pompeii into the search bar.

I love all of his playing man, of course there are some albums where his playing is better than others but he is a damn fine guitarist, one of my biggest influences..

  • I just spent like $200 on dvds and songs today. I had the actual albums years ago, but I needed a David fix. Can't wait for his album to come out in September 2008

  • how does he get that static echoe type sound when he does that little solo

  • he's using an old maestro echoplex

  • what is that?

  • has anyone got the tabs for that bit???

  • It's just a jam based on a B maj - C# min riff. As for Gilmour's solo yer gonna have to figure that one out for yerself. Good friggin luck mate. :-)

  • The riff is simple enough - just make sure you don't sound the 3rd and 4th fret harmonics on the low E-string when you're muting it with your index finger; mute it dead centre between the 3rd and 4th fret.

(Or if you're really accurate, just don't hit the low E-string.)

  • Oh, yeah - watch out for the 2nd fret harmonic, as well. ; /

  • Mr Cool - shame it's not 40 minutes rather than seconds.

  • Absolutely legendary sound.

  • I can hear this all day long,Pink Floyd is THE best!!!

  • HAWTTTTtttttt!!

  • roger waters is pissed david stole the spotlight.

  • GILMOUR IS GOD!!!

  • yessss my fav snipit from live at pompeii

  • Fanfuckintastic!

  • This guitar sound is soooooo godly

  • Guitar music is the way forward.

    Always has been.

  • Criminally underrated...

No-one can bend a note like Gilmour.

  • man i love your comment. yeah he has different attack on the notes, different than jeff beck.

  • My favourite guitar-player beside Hendrix and Page

  • Whatever . . . Clapton and Hendrix would be lucky to deliver DAVID GILMOUR's newspaper on their bicycles each day.

(and let's face it, if there is a place that Hendrix's ghost hangs out, it's in Gilmour's recording studio)

  • thank you so much for posting this scene i as just about to do it my self. david gilmour is god

  • man fuck america, england had the best band of the 70's (excluding hendrix & the doors), led zeppelin, pink floyd, black sabbath MAN!!!!

  • agree! even hendrix was influenced by jeff beck.

  • Hendrix didn't make it in America as it was a time of Soul and Country. He made it in England and then American took him back, as if they hadn't ignored him in the first place.

  • Im british but without america there possibly wouldnt have been those bands, because alot of them were blues influenced, which comes from john lee hooker, B.B King, Robert Johnson and so on.

  • Yeah i know, but what you're saying is that england had the best bands of the 70's, but without the black american blues musicians we possibly would not have had clapton, led zeppelin and so on, and the doors were a 60's band pretty much, if you consider that jim morrison died in 71'. You know that Led zeppelin and clapton are hugely blues influenced right?

  • yes your right there were not without the influences

  • ok, i read ur comment very slowly, esp the fuck america part, n without the american blues influences none of those great english bands of the 70's wud be around. so as many times as u say to read the comment slowly n try to be a wise guy, ur statement has no validity.
