@FurbyParade226 If you can give me an answer of a guitarist that has had such a great impact upon music, that can convey his emotions better through his guitar, please do so
@jmc2990 Is this a trick question? lol.. I believe anybody that's ever picked up an instrument with the intension of putting their hard work into it, has "conveyed their emotions". To better answer your question, I prefer Tolkki from ex; Stratovarius. He's a much better guitar player, composer, and song writer, IMO. Take "Liberty", off of Elements Part II for example.. lol
thanks to this vid everytime i pick up a guitar i wona play what his playing here but then i remember i dont know how to:( douse anyone have a tab link to put my nerves to rest?
Ladies only (oh fine, ok and some men, you know who you are) ... if you could go back in time would you have your way with David Gilmour or the Golden God Robert Plant? I know you're thinking both would be heaven, but this ain't heaven ladies. We're talking about ecstasy. Now choose!
We're all from the same planet who cares what the country. We should focus on what we have in common instead of our differences and enjoy the beautiful music of Earth
0:31 can anyone make out what he says at the end? "That's what they said to Berlioz . . " then he continues his sentences, laughing . . .? I'm just really curious
If you search you can find the full version of the footage this clip is from. He said Berlioz instead of Beethoven so they start making fun of him lol.
Hello everybody! I am from Bulgaria and a few weeks ago I read in one of the bulgarian newspapers that Leonardo Di Caprio is going to play the role of Frank Sinatra in a movie, dedicated to the singer. So, he wll not be able to play David Gilmour, for the present! But I do agree that Leo looks like David and I hope that some day he will play him! And the move will win Oscar!
@Hogweed11 I feel sorry for you. I uploaded it in december 2006 and I think I've watched it about 700-750 times I'm sure. will never get old, even to me.
I you honestly think his solos, or just solo work is weak, have a listen again in a relaxed mindset. he will take you places. There is no one like Gilmour when it comes to expressing onself thru bends and vibroto.
without any effort at all, he has created the best mini solo i have ever heard, i love pink floyd, this guy would have to be the greatest guitarist to ever live, along side jimmy page
Lol, you got it all wrong, my man. Beck is influenced by David. Dave probably appreciates Beck's playing, but Beck probably worships David for rienventing the way the guitar is played.
WOW. Jeff Beck has always been one of my fave guitarists (25 years now), and Gilmour right behind him. It wasn't until now did I realize how much Gilmour is influenced by Beck!
Go back and listen to "Beck's Bolero" from the Truth album, for a good example (compare to this 40s clip).
This is not to say that, David's one of the finest guitarist and most original of all time. We all have our influences! But, this clip was an epiphany for me, thanks for posting.
Is that available on DVD? Have you noticed how his lead-guitar sound has slowly become 'cleaner' as time went on? I kinda like the raspier Dark Side Moon sound, although the newer Marooned still sounds great- great playing.
Yeah it is on DVD, although every part of it is up here on you tube just type pink floyd pompeii into the search bar.
I love all of his playing man, of course there are some albums where his playing is better than others but he is a damn fine guitarist, one of my biggest influences..
I just spent like $200 on dvds and songs today. I had the actual albums years ago, but I needed a David fix. Can't wait for his album to come out in September 2008
The riff is simple enough - just make sure you don't sound the 3rd and 4th fret harmonics on the low E-string when you're muting it with your index finger; mute it dead centre between the 3rd and 4th fret.
(Or if you're really accurate, just don't hit the low E-string.)
