  • lets play silent hunter 5

  • Это наша история,и ее нельзя просто выкинуть.Плохая она или хорошая.

  • they were all suite and tie frat boys, hitler roosevelt and churchill. and they were just paying the devil his due in human lives but in the end contributing to the ruin of europe. this process is still continuing to this day

  • Ugh just tell us about the damn u-boats. We learned the rest in high school history.

  • Thankfully Britain and the US had an ally in Germany who made certain the Nazi war effort would fail. Hitler had the emotional maturity of a spoiled, vicious twelve year old school girl. His constant interference in the business of war-fighting, his inability to follow any sort of strategic plan & his endless under estimating of the forces ranged against him doomed the Nazis as soon as the war began. Had he been a real leader the Nazis would have won. Fortunately he was a mediocrity.

  • This was the weapon that could've won the war for Hitler.

The Battle of the Atlantic was the most critical battle of WW2 because every other operation in Europe depended on the lifeline from America to England.

The Canadian Navy came of age fighting the U-Boats.

If Doenitz had been able to start the war with the 300 subs he wanted it woud've meant 99% chance German victory.

It must've drove Doenitz crazy after the war; he lived until 1980.

  • Those who deny documented history are practicing willful ignorance. You know who you are.

  • America declared war on Germany after Pearl Harbor.

  • The japanese were master submarine engineers....They have the fastest submarine during WW2

  • Generalmente los EEUU llevaban armas en barcos de pasajeros y luego se hacian los neutrales.

  • Nazi Germany never decleared war on the British or the US. Britian declared war on Nazi Germany. Read history.

  • @TheRandomSweed uhhh the Germans did declare war on the US?? after pearl harbour hitler for no reason declared war?? very stupid decision he made??

  • my Grandfather was in Hamburg when British dropped blockbusters int he U-boat pens their he said everyone avaliable hade to go help repair it

he has plenty of stories of him and his trusty Motorcycle during ww2 XD

it ran on Plane Fuel! once

  • @jasincl Lol a bike on plane fuel=???

  • *Water Pours in*

"Damn it Who Left Ve Hatch open Again!"

"Sorry i forgot to close it D:"

"Dont forget again! what if were 300m underwater and the hatch is open!"

"but we are 300m under water!"

"oh... hmmm okay then close the hatch!"

  • the british is sly bastards, they make it hard to distinct between civilian and military ships and cry to the world when the Germans make a mistake.

  • @vk45de

    You're an idiot

  • you no watching these tapes for the first time i never new how brave these guys were. also i didnt no they traveled so far its really something thanks for the vid

  • what version of U-boat lied is that

  • @MasterBattle2000 if you mean the one at 0:21, its a Kriegsmarine march called " Das Englandlied " or " Wir fahren gegen Engelland "

  • WOW!

  • what a deadly beauties...

  • very nice documental, what is the name of that song at 00:20 ?

  • German engineering paved the way for modern warfare

  • what an accomplishment for Admiral Doenitz to have done for his Vaterland. If only he'd of had his 300 u boats, He would have won the war on his u boat arm alone.

  • "The only thing I actually feared for during the war was the U-Boat threat"

    -Winston Churchill

  • @IvanBeSerious That s on the cover of Silent Hunter III :D

  • Typical German--shooting at an unarmed ship!!

  • @TheMuddyRiver

Whata fuck are you talking about retard! Your american, russian and british heroes did the same thing. That is why they had hard them even putting Dönitz and Raeder on trial in Nuremberg.

  • @TheMuddyRiver which is protected by 4-5-6 armed destroyers...

  • @TheMuddyRiver Suck a dick, German technology and Navy was the l3est the world has seen

  • @sheemsheem Who won? Best means nothing if lead by history's biggest dumbass.

  • Very nice docu, thanks for sharing!

  • in spite of its bloody past, the german uboat (especially the type 7c) looks really gorgeous. back in these years the uboat designs showed some class. a todays uboat simply looks like a torpedo. very efficient but just boring design

  • hiii do you know the backround song

  • Fear GOD who hath power to cast you into HELL(Luke 12:5)! Fear God and depart from evil(Proverbs 3:7)! God is ANGRY with the wicked everyday(Psalm 7:11)! Jesus Christ is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE, there is NO OTHER WAY to be saved(John 14:6)! For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved(John 3:17)! TURN FROM YOUR SINS AND SUBMIT 2 THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST NOW! DON'T BOAST OF HAVING TOMORROW! Proverbs 27:1

  • My grandfather died on one of this u-boats !

  • How would the world look like if Hitler would have stayed allied with Stalin.

  • @TheDentist09

Stalin did not even have any good navy. You better ask how world would have looked if Hitler had defeated the allies one at the time.

  • @ss90ss444 the problem with the ussr was that the supreme commander of all german forces was with rank corporal... but if britain had felt during 1940 the ussr would still have the power to defeat the germans

  • why was germany the only country focused for u-boat? didnt other nations make them as well?

  • Sure. The US and Japan made them by the dozens for the Pacific. Germany made them because it let them bypass Versailles, so a huge portion of their naval power was submarine. Also, the Allies made sure that German subs were called "U-boats" and Allied subs "submarines" to help with the us vs. them propaganda.

  • thanx for great info

  • Well, there is a difference between sea-based nations and continental-based ones. The latter did not depend that much on sea trade, so it was sufficient for them to threatend the sea power of the former. So they could conentrate on the indirect approach, like submarine warfare. The former could not afford that, they had to preserve their sea trade in order to survive. On top of that they also had to have enough warships for a decisive battle.

  • Another power that could concentrate on the same tactic in case of war would have been the Soviet Union in the Cold War. If war had broke out they surely would have went to the same approach. Neither the US nor the UK ever could concentrate on only that tactic. Only as a supplement.

  • hitler know nothing about sea naval war..as well even the most right hand man of hitler hermann goering..

  • Seems hitler threw everything into that battle for the atlantic,He must have well known that without sepremecy there.

  • Great machine, great design and eficiency!

  • "greatest threat to the allies?" Er, no...

  • @tkhushrenada Er, ya ha! You don't know about Churchill saying "The only thing that ever really frightened me during the war was the U-boat peril.", do you?

  • I do. It meant his brandy wasn't getting into the country as often. U-Boats were threatening, yes. Most threatening? Nah

  • Yes they were most threatening. They almost succeded in cutting of supplies to england. IF that happened forget d-day

  • there were never enough to do this, and even without the convoys, the Russians still would have won without d-day. Lend Leese to the soviets was primarily a political sign of unity for the communists, more than a physical gesture

  • OK dum dums all kidding aside the u-boats days were numbered because of technology being developed in leaps and bounds like asdic sonar radar mad detectors hedgehogs-not to say they would'nt of continued to wreak havoc just to say they would be destroyed faster than they could of been built or practically operated with an acceptable loss of life-make sense? O.K. because my dog went to harvard and studied ww2 and he barked me all of this.

  • You are all so so slow the first original u-boats were originally built as dutch-type ovens to be operated underwater to incinerate prisoners of war however the asshole germans quickly realized that the snorkel systems of the day could not deliver enough oxygen to fire the burners efficiently but the crews could breath ok so they started using these submersable floatings as weapons of war-also the torpedo was developed as a high pressure enima device-this is all true,my dog told me.

  • kinda annoying that the interpreter who translates the german tries to talk with an exaggerated german accent -.-

  • yeah, but it still sound exaggerated. and what did you wanna tell me with the rest you wrote?

  • What?What do you think?

    You are quite slow.

This stupid war was again an inter-germanic war.And again we others are suffered.Who are not a germanic.

    You are so slow.

  • ah, that was what you meant with "anglosucksons": Anglo-Saxons....could have said that earlier, then your reply would have been better to understand. "And again, we others are suffered"....i don't think that you have suffered that much.

Und ich bin nicht "langsam", wie du's bezeichnet hast, du musst demnächst nur n bisschen verständlicher schreiben

  • If the Japs built more submarines like the Germans,I believe they might won the Pacific War.Japanese submarines and torpedoes were better US.Somehow the Japanese Imperial Military planners overlooked this aspect and invest more on battleships

  • Just goes to show that you really shouldn't fuck with the Germans... At least that's what this British-born guy thinks...

  • AH needed more subs and less tanks and he would have won the war.

  • those guys are just following orders..... if not they be dead thats the rule no question ask... and any case they are respectible

  • I can definatly Fathom that concept , Thank you for the FYI * , aye-aye , Capt.

  • Great Doco !!!! U-Boats were Amazining weapons of their time !!!! I cant phathom how those men did that tho... O.G. Sea-Wolfs !!!

  • Pardon the pedantry Miss, though since "fathom" is also a unit of depth in naval measure, I believe, I thought I'd fix your otherwise clever double-entendre. :3 haha

  • cramped and squalid conditions you bet,44 men

    one head

  • there was 2 on a u boat .however, the first was stuffed with provisions which had to be eaten before there was space to use the second head.

  • I thank you for posting this but were is the rest of the series there's two more video's in this series. I've seen them before and I would like to see them again. If you have them could you please post them. I had them on VHS once but they were only copies and they are now old and don't work any more. If you can find the time and the video it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

  • Well, "merchant ships". You've got to take that with a grain of salt since those "merchant ships" often carried arms and war-relevant material like oil from the USA to Britain.

  • Bias: Depressing music, "Wreaking havoc and destruction," "cramped and squalid conditions," "what it really was was a struggle for the sea lanes between north america and britain." Oh, that's enough. U.S.A. and Britain, please get over yourselves!

  • Yes it is bias...all WW2 documentary's are

  • that's right, I need to see the History written by the U-boot Commanders!!

  • dont know if ur being sarcastic there..but im going to say ur not. i really find these storys from the german's point of view to be really interesting. its important to record the other side. it puts a face to the enemy.. really shows that ur not just fighting some nameless army. they had familys, they are people. they suffered loses of fathers and sons, brothers. really drives home that theres nothing glorious about war. no one really wins, no matter what propaganda is shoved down ur throat

  • yes, that's what i say

  • German Officers who I've seen interviewed seem honest. I think they seem like very respectable men.....

  • agreed, its so taboo to think that in todays society. like having a respect for a german soldiers life means you are a nazi supporter or something... i think the vast majority of the german people had no clue of the horrible things happening during the war. they were just fighting a war for their country, and what they thought to be the betterment of the world. men just like our side, fighting a war. people feel that thinking we werent so different detracts from their patriotism

  • Exactly, and I'm sure they were scared of Their Communist neighboors. I would be............

  • were U-boat crews (or at least the commanders) not all Nazis? I thought that in POW camps German paratroops and U-boat crew were kept apart from normal navy and army because they were such vehment followers of Hitler and Nazi ideology.

  • @ryko26 Hey Ryko.. as I understand, the Luftwaffe, the Kreigsmarine, and paricularly the Uboatwaffe, was much more pro-Nazi than the army. I haven't heard or read that (that they were kept apart), but I don't doubt it.

  • @lejink Oh please. The German people, even if they didn't know about the gas chambers, knew full well that people were being sent to camps just for being Jewish, that political dissent was suppressed, that they were living in an authoritarian state, and they allowed this to occur because of their own vanity and imperial pretensions. You can respect people like Donitz' qualities as a professional soldier; in terms of moral qualities, they were utterly bereft of any compulsion to do th right thing

  • @disamjisa hey man

sorry my english isnt that good

but yes , you are right my grandparents fought on the german side in ww2 , unfortunatly i was to young when my grandfather died , but i know he was in the ss , a tank driver

he was 18 when he joined the ss and had to earn money for his family

my grandmother told me he wasnt so much into the ss thing he just wanted to get money

actually i dont believe her , she even told me she were hiding jews in her basement

  • @disamjisa

    its funny

all the people that were living in these days claimed they have hidden jews in some way

im glad that this gneration slowly disappears ( sorry grandma) germany has changed

just visit us and try some bier and bratwurst lol

  • @schizzomirrormage Hey smi, I think its possible that your grandfather did join the SS for the money, but it is an unfortunate fact that most Germans, while not knowing about the gas chambers and extermination camps, obviously knew that Jews and other people were being sent to concentration camps.. and many Germans held an anti-semitism that was fairly common in all countries at that time. I think that many Germans from that generation do feel guilty, because they ignored all the warning signs

  • @schizzomirrormage Its possible your grandfather and my great-grandfather fought each other, if your grandfather was in north Africa. Its unfortunate the entire world had to suffer such terrible war and atrocities because of their greedy leaders... I know both my grandfathers, and my great grandfather, (British and Australian) signed up to defend the British Empire, and to bring down Hitler. Many Germans signed up for similar reasons; to defend their country. They didn't care about the politics.

  • @lejink i agree with you, people say good glad so many germans drowned in these u boats. But they just young men in 20s i respect the german soildiers as much as any brave young men who liost their lives in the war.

  • @paulhunter123 The best day of the battle of the atlantic was 6/5/1943 when 5 uboats were sunk with NO survivors and 258 dead like rats in a trap.Where were the news reels when we needed them?

  • @lejink if they did not support their country they would be send to the camps theirselves

  • Excellent docu.Thank you very much.I have subscribed to your channel.

  • Glad you enjoy the documentary GunnerGraham! tq..
