  • how would you do this if you already have an amp hooked up?

  • @2dee11 hook the relay into the remote turn on wire ALSO. its a signaling wire not a power wire. Besides relays don't take much power anyway even if it was a power wire.

  • @mickblock thanks

  • Nm, found an blue striped amp turn on wire. The relay method shown works perfect and this was done in their new 1400 model. A+ Thank you very much.

  • @marykaywithmich is this the avh-p1400dvd?

  • @2dee11 yes.

  • What other way of power delay delivery can you use in that relay instead of that purple remote/amp and power att. turn on? I do not remember seeing one on my new AVH-P1400DVD.

  • ..Men, excellent video, you guys have just answers all my cuestions about this issue !!, I will do this trick to my pioner 3200 bt this afternoon after I buy the relay for that,..Thanks ,you dit a great Job!!.

  • would this work on the new avh-p4400bh?

The player works great with my ITOUCH and searching for a song, album or artist is easy with several ways to do it(including an ABC listing where you can touch a letter to list songs, albums or artist under that letter...very cool). I really like the feature of touching ..."

  • Hey, i just wantet you to know that it will work by just connectin the handbreak (green) cable to the case of the HU. I just installed my HU thi way and it works great.

  • Great Video! I have a question. I am moving this unit to a 2002 impreza wrx, if i do not want to by pass the break where would I plug the long green wire? This car is has manual transmission. If not i will just bypass this system too. Thanks!!

  • what about the 2300?

  • @FamousTeK this should work on any head unit that cant be just grounded

  • or just do it the easy way and connect the green wire (park break) directly to the CD/DVD player case itself, worked for me though :) I can drive and watch video at the same time which i guess is the point of this video.

  • @Johnyboyrofl Doesn't work with some AVH models because it'll "sense" that the wire is grounded at startup and will still cause the error. Which is why people use the toggle or relay method.

  • work great, big thanks. Picked up my 12v relay at radioshack. Im sure its cheaper somewhere else though.

  • would this work for any head unit that has a screen

  • thx for posting this up. just made my life a lot easier.

  • Hey my father was wondering how u can switch to the Rear view camera while driving forward. please let me know asap

  • @l3rand0n1 you have to connect the rear view to a constant power supply and just press the rear view button on the head unit and it will work

  • Hi, just a question

Do you have to splice the black wire from the relay into the stereo/car black wire?

    Thanks

  • when I connect my unit inside the car it dont work, nothing happens. I took it back guy tested it by wiring the red and yellow (ignition and constant) to the + terminal on battery and black (ground) to - terminal and it worked, switched on and everything. I tried again inside the car, nothing! any ideas? (95 sc4)

  • My dad installed the relay in today and it works great, the video works and everything. But i wanted to calibrate the screen but it needs to be shut off to do it and the relay turns off when the radio is off so then i cant switch to that. Is there a fix to that without taking the wires back out and trying to connect it to the ebrake. Its not that big of a deal cuz the touchscreen is pretty accurate. Also is there a way to have a different wallpaper for each source or name radio station presets

  • Hey soundman...bypass worked great but can find where to run the dimmer wire on a 04 chevy silverado...HELP!!!!!

  • @BrianBaker1981, thanks, but I checked all the wire, and made sure the mic was plugged in, it still doesn't work. It's not my phone because when I click on the phone icon before I even try to connect I get the error.

  • Comment removed

  • Did this on my AVH-3300BT, but it comes up with Error-10 when trying to open the phone menu, not sure if it's related, any idea on how to fix that?

  • @emazz104 not sure how this mod would effect bluetooth..Maybe it's your phone..I installed the 3300BT today and followed the directions here to a T and I have a working radio with video w/o parking break and bluetooth from my phone to the head unit is working flawlessly..Not questioning your skill or trying to offend you in any way but check all your wiring and make sure you have the mic plugged in.

  • For the people asking about the Reverse wire on the P3300BT... That is for a reverse camera. You run that to your reverse lights and it will automatically switch to the camera when you go into reverse.

  • Got the 2300 for xmas. I have everything apart need some help lol. Negative from relay to negative from radio. Connect those. Then what about black wire (negative) from car?

  • All seems good, only thing you connect negative from relay to back of harness... I get that. What about the negative from the car? Do u tie that in with it?

  • Hey man I've tried to message you, but I can't find the dumb button. I just installed a 3200bt with the navigation add-on. However, my bypass will not work. I have triple checked the wiring on the relay and I know they are correct. If anyone can help me out plz do so.

  • does this work for the pioneer avh-p5200dvd?

  • @elr3y1001 hmm idk read the tittle of the video maybe?

  • thanks for this video im about to find a new radio to buy and want a dvd function because my friends live all over my state mostly a hour from me and im always driving, so i drive 2 hours soemtimes. most the time they fall asleep because there aint shit else to do after talking for a little bit, i would like them to be able to watch movies while we drive. and i make dvds of my music career for friends so this video helps out alot!

  • I've successfully wired up the relay system for my 2300. Both DVD and iPod video works great.

The only thing not working is when the unit is powered off, holding down the menu button gives me a screen about not driving, rather than the menu that's supposed to come up.

    Any ideas on a fix?

  • JOHNNY KNOXVILLE!

  • Tried this bypass method on my AVH-P4200DVD and it worked great. I tried using the "toggle switch" method before, and it was just a lot easier with the relay, plus, the relay is hidden out of view. AWESOME!

  • does this work with the 5900dvd?

  • Trying to use this method on the 3300BT. I have the relay all wired up and just have the wire coming from the relay to go to a ground. When I had it ground to the chassis of the headunit, it seemed to work but there was a strange noise coming from the unit. What colour is the ground cable from the headunit? Is it ok to ground it on the chassis of the 3300BT itself?

  • was it a humming noise? if so find another ground. bad grounds can causing humming and all sorts of odd noises

  • Hey, thanks for the video, you know your shit dude :) got a question, I've got the Pioneer AVH-3300BT, (I know, should have bought the 4300 or higher because of the rear USB, but I thought mine had the rear USB as well) anyhow, my question is SUB WOOFER, it says that I can hook up a single sub thru my rear speakers without using an amp, the Pioneer has a 70w @2ohm for this, question is, how does that hook up in the chain? Do I hook up the rear speakers and "daisy chain" them to the sub? I don'

  • Will this work on the 4300dvd? I see a lot of posts saying the relays aren't working for the 4300dvd

  • I am not concerned about bypassing the parking brake. I actually attached the light green wire to my light green parking brake wire and I still receive the error like my car is in drive. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Is it true it want play video if I do your bypass if I have navigation hooked up

  • First off, great video, it helped tremendously. Thank you. Though I have a question that I'm not sure if you can help with or not...I recentely purchased the avh-3300bt and installed it myself, while installing I came across a reverse wire, in all my time dealing with car audio I have never seen this wire before. Well, I didnt attach this wire to anything and now Im getting a black screen that says "object may apear reversed" and no video works...how do I fix this? Is this because of that wire?

  • @nickcessna1 Did u figure out the problem? Im about to install a 3300 and im also unsure of this reverse wire, thanks

  • Comment removed

  • Will this work for the 2300 also?

  • If i use the remote wire for the relay, how would I use the remote wire if I wanted to install a subwoofer?

  • @bobocrazy2 you tap both wire to the remote wire of the deck.

  • i have the 3300bt and had it already installed by a shop.

now i want to do the relay but need some help. what type of wire do i use for relay and where do i ground the wires?

  • thought about doing the bypass, but then realized that watching a video while driving isn't the smartest thing in the world !!.

  • I'm getting sound but no video coming from my iPhone/Video/Netflix. What is wrong with the wiring?

  • @sirsmith If youre sure that you connected the bypass correctly, the cable youre using connecting the iphone to the head unit can possibly be wrong. Ive read that some people had an issue with using the wrong cable. You can also try reseting the head unit. I had a problem with mine not running dvds, reseting it fixed the problem with mine.

  • Excellent Video!

  • CAN YOU EXPLAIN ALL THE CONNECTIONS ON THE WIRING HARNESS? BESIDES THE SPEAKER CONNECTIONS (NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE SPEAKER WIRES NEED NOT BE EXPLAINED)

    THANKS COOL VIDEO!

  • good shit man! i used this method today and it worked with or without e-brake! i haven't driven my car yet but i will tomorrow when i go to work :))) i have 3300bt

  • Thanks for the vid! The bypass works perfectly, but I have an issue I'm hoping you can help with. I'm getting horrible radio reception with my AVH-3200DVD. I've read sources that suggest I need to power an antenna booster, but they all say to use the blue/white wire to do this. Since this is the same wire you're using to power the relay, what would you suggest I do so I can power both the relay and the antenna?

I appreciate any help you can give, but keep in mind I'm electrical dumb :(

  • Awesome vid...thanks!

  • great vid it helped me out

  • What size are the female connectors you use to connect the wire to the 12v relay?

  • thanks for all the help... it workked..

  • Thank you for explaining not just what to do, but also why to connect things in certain ways.

  • I first tried to connect the hand break wire directly to ground, but it worked only if I connected it to the ground after the player was turned on.

The method in the video worked like a charm on my Pioneer AVH-P6300BT. Thanks a million Mr. Bernard.

Is it possible to change the regional code on these players?

  • Just found out you cannont use the auto eq function with this set up. Why the hell did pioneer put this governor shit on their units? If I wanna break the law, thats my business. Really is gay as hell making us fuck with the wiring of our cars even more for that useless shit. btw FYI it wont work cause the source needs to be off(no amp wire power) in order for the auto eq function to work. again FUCK YOU PIONEER I do what I want you got my money suck my balls. thank you

  • @azrial4421 At least your given this option at all, by law all units sold in the US (and certain other countries) after a certain year that have video playback have to have this, with other companies (IE NOT Pioneer) units they actually have a gyroscope so it "feels" when the vehicle is moving, their units have no way to be bypassed in an easy manner or without breaking the warranty sticker. While it sucks, at least we can bypass more easily and keep the warranty. For autoeq you can use a switch

  • u can jus earth the green wire n it does the same thing...work on 98 percent of dvd players...the only ones that use the opposite hook up power instead of earth are sum of the new clarion n alpine units.......

  • does anyone know if we can just connect the ground wire to a metal piece in the car???

  • @2212pantera

I would like to know the answer to this question as well

  • @2212pantera Provided the "metal piece" is connected to the vehicle ground then yes.

  • Thanks for this... Worked a treat on the AVH-3300BT.

  • If you get lcd headrests and you have the bypass, would the dvd still play in all screens when not parked or just at the back??

  • just to let everybody know you can pick up a relay like this at the auto salvage yard...normally for free. great video man

  • @85stangster works on p9400 as well

  • Followed the tutorial, built my relay, and installed in my 2001 Jetta. Head unit is 4300DVD. Works perfectly. Excellent work - thanks so much for sharing.

  • @miketeezie same car here.

  • nevermind. got it

  • Ok. What if your wiring harness doesn't have a red wire like the one coming out of the radio's wiring. Where does the red "ignition" wire go? I have an 08 impala and i'm unsure where to connect the red wire

  • @KingN8Boogie

You WILL need a specialized harness to install the system in that. GM has everything tied into those radios. If you try and hook one up by just cutting the wires your gonna see all sorts of lights on your dash. I will warn you, they are not cheap, about $100-130 depending where you look. But once you have it, it will splice into your aftermarket radio harness. Good luck.

  • Great tutorial! Helped me a lot :)

  • would this install be applicable to p2300dvd as well?

  • @Soundman - (below comment) am not having a problem with the install, I was just curious. Good video by the way, thanks.

  • @Soundman. If I understand it, this is 2 create a delay 2 the handbrake earth wire (stereo side) wen U first turn on the radio 2 stop people permenanly grounding the handbrake wire? I was just wondering, if the stereo is wired in2 the handbrake switch as per the manufacturers instructions, & the handbrake is already on b4 u switch on the unit, do you have 2 release & reapply the handbrake b4 a DVD can be played 2 create a delay or is there something else in the handbrake circuit I am unaware of?

  • thank you very much for taking your time to make this video

  • Righteousness friend:) I just hooked up the AVH-3300BT using your video worked flawlessly. Local stereo shop stocked the relay and harness $10 bucks out the door.. Great video and thanks again brother.

  • ya'll rock, thanks for this tutorial.... just what I needed to get my swag on

  • so basicaly all you need to buy is a re-lay , no other wires , just the re-lay , and make the connections of the wires in the back of the unit , am i right ?

  • What would happen if someone tapped into the parking break wire to the parking break, like it was supposed to, but also tapped into the line to the 12 volt re-lay. Would the unit blow up?

  • READ my next 3 posts in reverse order to get the complete info on the FIX for: Auto EQ “Function unavailable while driving” message below:

  • Auto EQ function, or just remove the 12 constant source wire after you are done with Auto EQ setup.

I don’t know if the PRO’s have a better solution, but this will work.

  • know that "SOURCE OFF" has to be selected in order for the auto EQ menu to “un-grey” to be used. The problem is here: when selecting “SOURCE OFF” the system powers off the 12V power supplied to the blue remote amp turn on lead which goes to pin 85 of the relay, which in turn makes the relay stop working.

The FIX is to connect a constant 12V source to the blue remote turn on wire/ pin 85 but MAKE SURE TO PUT A SWITCH IN THIS LINE and DON’T FORGET TO TURN THIS SWITCH OFF AFTER setting up the

  • @allergypurifiers just encountered this problem, fucking annoying! Im thinking just run a wire directly from the battery instead of buying an external source. Im glad you had same problem, we are brothers in a way,lol anyways fuck governor shit on products I payed good money for fuck it! good day sir

  • @allergypurifiers On your fix for this stupid annoying feature, is there a way you can message me some more details. I didn't set the bypass on mine (had mine installed - they did it). What do you mean "make sure to put a switch in the line" and "don't forget to turn this switch off after"? Should I take the unit out and mess with the wire mentioned in this video? Or is there an easier way to do this?

  • FIX for: Auto EQ “Function unavailable while driving” message displayed even when the bypass relay is installed correctly. OKAY – I installed the bypass relay successfully with the AVH-P4300DVD and CD-BTB200 connecting to iPhone 4 with CD-IU200V. I can watch videos, and DVD’s when driving just fine. There is a PROBLEM when trying to set up or use the Auto EQ feature (have to use the Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ Microphone) where you get the “Function unavailable while driving” message. I already

  • I just installed a avh-3300bt and everything works fine until i turn my dimmer/headlights on. The audio will cut out but the display will remain constant. Tried re-wiring and nothing, any thoughts?

    thanks

  • what type of bypass is that and where can u get it?

  • @Soundmancaraudio what guage wire do you need to connect to the relay and back I have 16 but I'm shure it to big

  • Is my parking brake light on my dash suppose to be on all the time?

  • Don't buy the piece of shit P3300BT

  • so i can us this on a alpine iva-w205 to bypass or any other indash?

  • i have no idea about the backup camera , but the nav screws it up

  • I need help with my MVH-P8300BT.

  • Will this method work with the pioneer model AVH P6300BT?

  • @billiambarnett it works perfect .

  • @ub6ib96969 will this interfere with the back up camera system?

  • what about the p4000dvd? thanks

  • Thanks a lot! I just bypasses my avh-p4200. Had to go thru the video a couple ti

  • On the 4200dvd as far as I know

  • Works great. 3300BT

  • But then you have no electric aerial

  • Hey, I tried and follow your steps. I still get the same "prohibited screen". I have a avh3200bt and i have bypass fuse wires. So, I did as you showed it. i connected the blue wire to the pioneer blue wire that is coming out of the deck and then attached the vehicle blue wire. So, i have all blue wire coming all together. I did for the same as the black ground wire and the green wire as well. Can you tell me what i am doing wrong. Thanks.

  • @socrates008 i figured it out. Except your video that does not show, what to do with the parking brake wire from the vehicle. I just saw other clips what others have done. Thanks for the reply.

  • @socrates008 You don't do ANYTHING with your brake wire from your vehicle with this method. This method and the method illustrated in the owners manual are two completely separate things. Do one or the other, not both.

And the remote wire doesn't have to terminate at the relay. It can be pigtailed to be used for something else as well.

  • After bypassing, Does my brake lite gonna be on all the time?

  • @socrates008 This bypasses your brake wiring entirely, that's why its called a bypass. Your brake lights are unaffected.

  • Sadly this doesn't work if you have the navigation add on.

  • Comment removed

  • I used your guide on my AVH3300 BT and it worked !!!....thanks man !!

  • @anslemjohn I have a AVH3200bt. I tried what the video shows. So, for example. pioneer blue wire connects to the fuse blue wire and then connects to vehicle harness blue wire. I like to know if you did anything different. because i still getting same old "prohibited screen'. Would appreciate the help. thanks.

  • @socrates008 the only difference was the color of the amp wire...its blue and white so instead of the purple wire in soundman video use the blue and white . Hope this helps

  • Where are the black wires coming from ??

  • Hey guys, I was wondering what wire gauge I should use when making this bypass? Could anyone give me a specific gauge to me?

  • @Freth232 I like 14 or 16. 18 is a little too small for my liking.

  • @beatz02 Thanks man!

  • About to do this when I get home

  • @cashflow71 Sorry, typo. I got a 12volt, not 10 volt. I had hooked it up wrong.

It works like a dream. Thanks Soundman!

  • Just so everyone knows, I have a Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD and this method of a relay bypass worked perfectly for me.

Thank you SoundManCarAudio for putting a clear, easy to understand video about this elusive bypassing method online as no one else seems to wish to divulge this car audio secret, apparently.

  • thanks!

  • Thanks for the detailed instructions, a lot better than the other jackasses on here.

  • I used a 10vdc 30 amp relay and it did not work.

What was the amperage of the relay you used?

  • @seyfarth

Did you even watch the video?

At 2:21 to 2:27 he said "12 Volt Relay" twice.

  • @cashflow71 Yes I watched the video. Typo. 12vdc 30 amp works fine. I had a loose connection.

  • Ace man! Works perfect on 4300

  • thank you!

  • Thank you soooooo mutch. MVH-8200BT WORKSSSSSS.

  • Dude its the same bypass for avh-4100 dvd...???

  • TNX BRO works perfect on my AVH-3300BT :)

  • hey man great vid do you think you can make a vid to set up a game system in the car?

  • Perfect video bro

  • Worked great on my avh-p3100dvd in an 09 wrx.

    Thank you!

  • works perfect with my avh-p2300dvd. is there a way to edit the background art, or upload new art?

  • thanks,its work exellent on the avh-p6300

  • i did this on the 3200bt btw

  • I used a 20 amp i think maybe 30. Thanks for this video dude. It worked great. Good explaination of how it works also. at 2:31 the guy says "we're gonna hook up wires to the top pin and the side pin. It doesnt matter which side you use." I didnt hear that part but i just copied how he wired them together.

  • i have the by pass but every time i turn my ride off i have to mess with the harness(RELAY) ((DISCONNECTING THE PARKING BRAKE PLUG GO INTO THE 30 RELAY CONNECTION AND PUT IT BACK,,, JUST TAKE'S A SECOND BUT I HAVE TO REMOVE MY RADIO EVERYTIME,,,hut down every time i turn my truck off... Maybe a switch? the relay aint doing it THANKS

  • This is probably a dumb question but does anybody know what amps the relay should be?

  • Thanks bro , worked excellent, great video!

  • hello, i was wondering if i can bypass Clarion VX-401 and how?

  • Thanks this really works

  • Do you a diagram of how it would look like?

  • Thanks, worked perfectly in my AVH-P2300DVD

  • @TheJESSUP5150 Man I have the same head unit. I got the relay and wired it like this but I don't have the ends that just slide the wire in like he does. I ran the wires through the holes and taped them. Can you tell me how you did yours?

  • @WMskoalman2010 You can buy the ends at lowes for just over $1. That way you can be sure to have a secure connection. But if you have a relay and run the wires correctly you should be fine however you secure them.

  • @TheJESSUP5150 Oh okay thanks I'm gonna get some and try it with them instead of bare wire. Just to be sure.. yours just turns right on just like his does right?

  • @WMskoalman2010 Yeah, i followed this video wiring and my AVHP2300DVD reacts exactly the same way as soon as I insert any dvd

  • @TheJESSUP5150 Finally got it workin! Thanks for your help!

  • you said the avh 3200 doesn't have a dvd player but it does. the only difference is it's got bluetooth built in for phones only.

  • i was wondering how you wire the reverse camera? i have the positive and negitive from the the camera hooked to the reverse light on my truck and the rca wire pluged into the rc in. but it will not automatically pull up a the reverse cam when i put it in reverse, i have to go to the soruce every time that i want to view the rear
