@Littleswamp1 That's because Channel 4 Racing had a seperate logo with the 4 inside a horse head, which was used in various forms even into the circle era.

@JASpiring I think they got the idea off CENTRAL as CENTRAL used blocks for their "Cake" Ident and CENTRAL was way ahead of its times both programming and visual idents

@MikeyManchester Channel 4 launched in November 1982, but Central didn't introduce the cake logo until a few years later. The idea didn't come from Central.

@MikeyManchester Alas Central CAKE never come in to effect until 1986, so Central would have gotten the idea of CH4, the idents come in 1982.

Fantastic! Strange that they chose the closedown theme music for the ident at o:42!

That's one of the themes which replaced the original fourscore in 1992. It was always used at closedown from late 1992 onwards, but sometimes was used at junctions with the other new themes.

In fact I remember this ident from my early youth and when these were shown for C4 at 25 my sis (who's 11) said 'Eh? whats that crap?'

I replied with, 'Channel 4's first logo. Better than the crap ones they show now' :P

Well done! You managed to get some nice clean C4 Idents, cuts without the announcer interrupting the id's. I have the same on my profile, but the announcers 'get in the way'. What egos they have!!!
