I've just started reading the book - and I must say this is dissapointing. They meet when (as someone above says) she is 8 and he is 12 - and he has just nearly drowned, getting out of his depth and dangerously close to a whirlpool and waterfall. The whole thing should be much more fraught, but at the sametime, innocent. Even as children, they are aware that they can be killed at any moment. This is just romantic mush.
I love the music too, but for some reason BBC does not release a lot of their soundtracks. They did the same thing with the North and South soundtrack which is also lovely. I think that it is really stupid that they won't release soundtracks for these movies, because I would be willing to pay a lot of money for them. :D

they actually do meet at that age....this clip is about half way through the movie. the movie is actually very loyal to the book.

There is a scene in the film where they meet as children. This is on DVD i think i have seen it in WH Smiths. Or there are a few scenes on YT

No Im sorry! as i said the soundtrack was never released. I suppose it would be something like Lorna and John's theme.

I dont think the soundtrack is available separately. i got this by cutting and editing a clip of the movie. Sorry!
